  • カッコイイなぁ

  • Pretty tight :]

  • Cool.

  • please post a photo of the open hull showing all part layouts and may I suggest you send a copy to RC Boater for an article on it.

    Quite impressive engineering

  • AWESOME! Great model!

I went to SCAD, and this looks like Lake Mayer! There was never a Nautilus there when I did my cardboard boat race!(I won mine BTW). But this is amazing! Must go see this one in person some time!

  • Whenever you can make it to Savannah let me know and we can plan for Lake Mayer. Tom Triplett Park is good too.

  • thats a gr8 idea XD

  • i got it all together speed controllers and stuff batterys 12 v and 6 v ballast tank water pump driving shafts

all i nee to do next is put it all together

  • ok i have boght pars and stuff but wtf is a futaba conection system and j/r???

  • i agree with radiator0 this is a LEGENDARY bautifull sub does it have ballast tanks?

  • Thanks

The sub is a "dynamic" diver, no ballast tanks, it always floats but it has to be moving forward in order to dive. However it will always come to the surface unless it gets snagged on some bottom debris. It can be set up as a static diver but it is hard to judge how deep it is. When the tail goes under I release the down control and the sub automatically levels. If forward movement stops while underwater, the sub comes to the surface.

  • :) ok i get it but just need to say agan its great :)

  • how did u make the steel thing that connects ur propeller and your engine watertight??,

cus i want to build my own 1 and i got it al scetched out( at school while in the history class) XD but the only problem is how to get that bit watertight?? help..?

  • Only the radio electrics are water proof in a sealed pvc pipe. There is no propeller, the sub is entirely jet propelled. Bilge pumps commonly available at your local marina are in effect miniature turbines. They provide thrust to provide all direction to the submarine.

  • top job ,give yourself a pat on the back for building this one...

  • fast for a model

  • Patrickol2, I sent you some info.

  • now do you make the molds for this because this is awesome

  • It was nice to meet you today in the park. I enjoyed learning about the submarine. I like the video and music. See you around.

  • I enjoyed meeting you and "Big", glad you liked the sub.

  • did u make it or buy it

  • The sub was scratch built and is made of fiberglass. This sub was built specifically for pond use and has had many encounters with submerged objects including the bottom. It was built especially thick and is much sturdier than commercial model submarine kits.

  • looks like an evil fish when its just below the surface, its cool i like it

  • have you killed someone with that? or does it have a spike on the tip like in the book?

  • The ram or "spike" is removable. At full speed weighing in excess of 260lbs(wet)it could have a significant impact, but it is never out of my control.

  • if i was swimmin, and saw that shit, id piss myself, it looks pretty creepy

  • Thanks, but it is scratch built both 7ft and 4ft versions.

  • wow... shes a beauty.... my regards and compliments tor your artistic abilities... i wish someone like you lived here... you could help me out alot... i kinda want an rc sub

  • did he really make it? or did he buy it because it looks like it was made by a pro

  • if its diving on its own (because of speed) put a small wind on each side in the front to plane it up a little, just like on real subs.

  • Only when it's set up to run with 24 volts (increased speed) will it automatically dive. Otherwise it runs on 12 V and it won't automatically dive, but it's slower.

  • Wow very Cool. It really looks like a sea monster there in parts just like in the movie. Fantastic work You should be very proud!

  • Yes, I agree. I would love to have one myself. What material did you make it from?

  • That is so cool...

  • very well done, i am impressed with your moddelling skills as that is incredibly accurate to the film model!

  • hey how much was this and where did you guy it?

  • About 500 for the bilge pumps and another 500 for the radio and fiberglass. Estimate approximately a thousand.

The sub is scratch built, unique one-of-a-kind. Lots of labor and lots of time spent perfecting the system which controls the sub without any external moving parts.

see 7ft web page for more information

  • WOW... no moving parts. That's a challenge.

  • Well its a very nice sub. Mine is a Triton class nuclear submarine. Its powersupply is a single jetcat p-80 et turbine which connects to the main powershaft

  • Sounds cool, any video ?

  • Ye, i am trying to get my vid cam too work

  • FANTASTIC! what a still lake, we dont get that where i live so i am building a more powerful variant with a verrrrry unique power system, one qestion how do u get such an unstreamlined hull to cut into the water so quickly

  • 7ft Jet Nautilus, forward thrust is 2 pumps 2,000 gph and 2 pumps 1,100 gph. So that's 6,200 gph, or 1.72 gallons per second or .23 cubic ft per second, or 14.35 lbs (fresh water) per sec. at 12 volts. At 24 volts maybe twice that.

  • lake monster! great!

  • wats the music!!

  • Graciosa by Moby

  • nice sub...but this one looks so familiar to me!! just like the one in a movie

  • you can check at SubCommittee dot com to see if someome is still make there kit. there was one being made about 3' long.

while yours scratch built, it's not the only one out there. I have seen them as I onc belonged to the SubCommittee - I have a 8' long Japanese I-19 sitting in the kitchen (waiting for work int he basement to be done and the display case to be built)

  • how you control it when it is under water and you cant see it?

  • A radio signal will penetrate freshwater. I've had this sub down at least 30 feet and probably more where it will still receive the signal. I can judge where the submarine is underwater even though I can't see it by the angle of the dive and how long I leave the down control on. The sub will revert to a horizontal position at any depth.

  • very nice!! would like to see other projects along this line. perhaps an rc porpoise or whale? that would be interesting.

  • its great but how do you know were it is when its under water

  • I have enough experience controlling the sub to know approximately where it is when it goes under.

If I'm going to send it out very far or very deep I may put a fishing line on it or attach a trailing buoy or small float.

The sub is always buoyant and will rise to the surface if no forward control or down control is applied. This is a safety feature in case of unintentional signal loss.

  • very nice model

  • THAT IS CLASSY! everyone has an airplane, u rock man!

  • Thanks

  • thang2005, you're not alone, many people think its a shark untill they come up and realize that it's an RC Sub. It was scratch built only one (a 4ft version and a 7ft).

  • Nice at first glance I thought it was a fish but when I read the title it's a submarine. Where can I buy this unique sub?

  • Sinister!!.

  • Magnetohydrodynamics, well no, just bilge pumps.

  • no prop is that it accelerates ions of water along the sides by the magnetic field? like one of these top secret silent real subs?

  • geisun, yes it runs like a jet ski and it is soundless. However, I observed that ducks, apparently can detect the slight motor vibrations (I think) and fly away several seconds before it surfaces if they are near.

  • Now I see why this model was so expensive in the shops.

  • geisun, this model is just a few inches short of 8 feet. It is entirely scratch built one-of-a-kind. There are no other models like it in the world. There are no external moving parts, no diveplanes, no movable rudder, and no propeller. For some this is a departure from the original but in practical terms for an RC model submarine, no propeller means no weeds too entangle the prop.

However, even the static display models as you mention are expensive.

  • I would find what you say hard to believe if I did not know a few things about models. Such as the fact that you can build many things like this. But I am guessing then that instead of the propella Die cast one that your unique Nautilus runs like a jet ski. Am I right?...If so then it would be very hard to detect by Sound, fue to it sounding like a whale if it were the real thing.

  • My dearm is to make a boat like the nautilus in real life size, how many mill that will cost god knows? lol U have website by any chance?
