As a Christian who is active on the internet, I've certainly been called a lot of names in place of actual argument.
Still, I doubt that atheists are deeply more aggressive than Christians (sadly). I think a better explanation for the difference in numbers is that atheists seem greatly over represented on blogging sites.
Either way, I'm not ultimately bothered by atheist incivility, regardless of whether or not it is greater. I am bothered by Christian incivility.
The atheistic community on youtube serves a very important purpose.
They demonstrate to rational, balanced, free-thinking individuals how weak the atheistic position is, and convince these individuals away from like-minded association with so-called "new atheism".
It's also somewhat alarming when select elements of the scientific community adopts similar attitudes to the latter. Historically such things have portended an imminent collapse of such creedal orthodoxies.

I agree that name calling accomplishes nothing. Unfortunately I, as an atheist, get called names directly or by innuendo constantly, including threats of hell. The general attitude of theists seems to be that they are are on a higher moral ground because they have an invisible friend. The statements in this video are as fair and balanced as Fox News Both sides are guilty. Stop it!
@eutahbear1952 it isn't so much the both sides guilty thing as, craig doesn't use ad hominem attacks on people in debates or when he does things, but most people i have seen him debate do against him, and then of course the internet community hates on him as wellf or no reason it seems, and the "going to hell thing" a lot of us say that but we use it as more of a warning rather than an insult.

If one does not have evidence for 'X' then one should not believe 'X' exists nor should one believe that 'X' does not exist. To assert that 'X' does not exist one needs evidence and argument to show that either 'X' is logically incoherent or that 'X' likely does not exist.
I agree with this, athiests can be very hateful. When I was studying evolution at college, the professors would mock whoever believes in intelligent design, and especially the Christians. Of course the comments on the internet prove this point as well. It used to irritate me when I was new in the faith, but I'm getting used to it now. It doesn't do much for their case anyway.

It really saddens me to watch a video like this, and then look over to the suggestion videos and see a video called "Christian death threats to atheists on fox news FB page." I think that those who lash out at their opponents ether A) annoyed, B) worried, or C) lied to. As followers of Jesus, knowing the Truth, let's be teachers and not hostile attackers.
Not only by words, but also by "Like and Dislike" bar, they show more dislikes if the video is about Faith or God debate. Those who are Christian are not supposed to hate anyone, they have to love their neighbor and enemy. Basically, there is not enemy for Christians. But for an atheist, there is no base other than moral relativistic base that is from their own experience. Hence, they show hate. Christians may know: Follow Christ and try t become like Him. Do not confirm to this world.
Have to agree with most of the comments here. Have had a few debates here with athiests and the level of personal abuse is staggering. They get very upset on any creation/evolution vids. They still put up all their now outdated evidence , finch beaks etc. Even when you purposely debate them soley from a scientific POV they get real nasty.
Now, let's not all go on about the actions of atheists lest we start displaying the traits that we despise (namely the unnecessary, inflammatory name calling). It's nice to bring the issue to light, but let's keep things civil when we engage them. Some just slink away, embarassed about their actions. Others continue on; ignore them. Others still actually begin to say something meaningful and can give a mentally stimulating conversation. It's quite nice to be honest.

if you continually insult someone it's SO telling about your disposition. you have a problem with self-hatred if you need to continually insult people. imperfection complains about imperfection. the wiser you become, the less critical of others you are because you realize how imperfect and ignorant that YOU are. the person who learns humility has taken the first step in aqcuiring wisdom.

As one who came from the perspective of atheism I can tell you, they are angry for the same reason(s) a Muslim would be angry. No one ENJOYS having their worldview jolted. Christianity claims to be, "the truth." This is the rub, in my opinion.
I've actually never heard of Frank Turek but watching this I kept thinking.. man he nailed this. I cant tell you how many times i've come across a christian/debate video and made the mistake of looking at the comment section afterwards to see some guy usernamed somewhere along the lines of IWANTU2KNOWIMATHEIST666 getting 56 thumbs up for saying "Oh man that christian guy, he got "PWNED" so hard. I hate everything he says!" Just seeing people like that makes you feel sour towards the whole crowd.
People calling other people names only do so because they don't have anything worthwhile and/or meaningful to say. Children call each other names because they aren't strong enough mentally to separate emotion from logical debate. Maturity should eliminate that. Unfortunately, physical maturity and mental maturity doesn't always come to fruition in humans equally.
Simply outrageous, Dr. Craig is one of the most intelligent and honorable scholars/debaters I know. He goes to such great lengths to make sure he is representing the opposite side on its own terms and in the best possible light (I am a Roman Catholic and his Reasonable Faith podcast "What About Catholicism" was very fair even if I disagree with his conclusions). What a shame. What can we expect though? When Truth came into the world, He was crucified. Keep up the excellent work Dr. Craig!

Atheists are angry because they are rebelling against God. Few, if any rebellions are born from other than anger or willfulness. Anger, willfulness, denial, guilt, sadness, frustration and confusion are what come of rebellion against God and this is how the majority of atheists act.
Why are they so angry? Easy, because they don't have the truth and they're angry because they know their wrong about God. They don't like the idea of judgement day and they don't like the idea of heaven and hell. They just refuse to accept it, and the reason there's ad hominem is because most atheists don't have real arguments so they resort to that.
Angry atheists are common. You see it everywhere; from angry atheists mad at how a street is named "Seven in Heaven" to protesting the 9/11 Museum displaying a cross. They attack Christianity but not Islam or Hindus, Buddhists, etc....

While many of the atheists on YouTube get out of hand, you should see some of the comments from Muslims on any video attacking them. They tend to only look at videos directly related to Islam. Just look at a Zakir Naik video.
I've considered making a video on Islam, but many YouTube Muslims have no interest in reasonable dialogue. They just regurgitate what they are told.

Bit off advice from me, never trust their translations or references from the bible and or koran. Always ask to see the references and then you must carefully read. This is so true. I've viewed hundreds of atheist/evolution videos as well as theist/creation videos and have noticed that about 95% of all cowardly name calling is done by atheists. Christians simply have better moral values and courtesy than atheists. Creation videos by far have the most vicious name calling of all. The anger displayed on Craig's videos pale in comparison with the anger displayed on creation videos by angry and hateful atheists/evolutionists.
I have had the same experience with atheists in my debates with them, they ALWAYS resort to name calling. I have been told to go F Jesus and myself without provocation. I noticed though alot of atheists if you respond with the Love of Jesus inspite of their attacks, it seems to calm them down and maybe gets them to start thinking that the Love of Jesus is real. I reminded him of the morality argument, I didn't know if he was a Christian so I linked a verse about humility. He blocked me with the words: ¨Nobody asked you, and you are incorrect anyway.¨ He didn't elaborate more than that.
1GodOnlyOne is an odd character. He blocked me because I have a video condemning a group of extremist Muslims who broke the two minute silence on Remembrance Day over here by chanting such things as "British soldiers go to Hell" and "British Soldiers are terrorists". For some reason he thought my video was hate speech against Muslims. He uploaded a mirror of another Christian without stating the video was not by him, and he didn't like it when I pointed out that he should.
I think blocking is something one shouldn't take to lightly, throwing blocks all around.
I also think blocking over all is a bad thing, so what if a bunch of atheists and trolls come in and slander, swear etc. Isn't that a good thing? Doesn't that give us a opportunity to display Christlikeness? Surely if Christians held this philosophy, people would see more clearly who we are, and most importantly Atheists the people we're trying to reach.

There is anger on both sides. From the theist side is the audacity to question what seems to them to be an open and shut case in their mind. IFrom the atheist side it is the audacity of theists to insist that they KNOW they are correct as to believe they are right that God exists and their God is certainly the correct one as well as their concept of it. Either way it's exasperating for both sides because they're not speaking TO eachother but AT eachother.

Not only by words, but also by "Like and Dislike" bar, they show more dislikes if the video is about Faith or God debate. Those who are Christian are not supposed to hate anyone, they have to love their neighbor and enemy. Basically, there is not enemy for Christians. But for an atheist, there is no base other than moral relativistic base that is from their own experience. Hence, they show hate. Christians may know: Follow Christ and try t become like Him. Have to agree with most of the comments here. Have had a few debates here with athiests and the level of personal abuse is staggering. They get very upset on any creation/evolution vids. They still put up all their now outdated evidence , finch beaks etc. Even when you purposely debate them soley from a scientific POV they get real nasty.

Now, let's not all go on about the actions of atheists lest we start displaying the traits that we despise (namely the unnecessary, inflammatory name calling). It's nice to bring the issue to light, but let's keep things civil when we engage them. Some just slink away, embarassed about their actions. Others continue on; ignore them. Others still actually begin to say something meaningful and can give a mentally stimulating conversation. It's quite nice to be honest.

I've actually never heard of Frank Turek but watching this I kept thinking.. man he nailed this. I cant tell you how many times i've come across a christian/debate video and made the mistake of looking at the comment section afterwards to see some guy usernamed somewhere along the lines of IWANTU2KNOWIMATHEIST666 getting 56 thumbs up for saying "Oh man that christian guy, he got "PWNED" so hard. I hate everything he says!" Just seeing people like that makes you feel sour towards the whole crowd.

People calling other people names only do so because they don't have anything worthwhile and/or meaningful to say. Children call each other names because they aren't strong enough mentally to separate emotion from logical debate. Maturity should eliminate that. Simply outrageous, Dr. Craig is one of the most intelligent and honorable scholars/debaters I know. He goes to such great lengths to make sure he is representing the opposite side on its own terms and in the best possible light (I am a Roman Catholic and his Reasonable Faith podcast "What About Catholicism" was very fair even if I disagree with his conclusions). What a shame. What can we expect though? When Truth came into the world, He was crucified. Keep up the excellent work Dr. Craig!

Why are they so angry? Easy, because they don't have the truth and they're angry because they know their wrong about God. They don't like the idea of judgement day and they don't like the idea of heaven and hell. They just refuse to accept it, and the reason there's ad hominem is because most atheists don't have real arguments so they resort to that.

While many of the atheists on YouTube get out of hand, you should see some of the comments from Muslims on any video attacking them. They tend to only look at videos directly related to Islam. Just look at a Zakir Naik video.
I've considered making a video on Islam, but many YouTube Muslims have no interest in reasonable dialogue. They just regurgitate what they are told.
Islamic scholarship is a joke. Naik, who many Muslims consider their best, is a 9/11 Truther, enough said.

This is so true. I've viewed hundreds of atheist/evolution videos as well as theist/creation videos and have noticed that about 95% of all cowardly name calling is done by atheists. Christians simply have better moral values and courtesy than atheists. Creation videos by far have the most vicious name calling of all. The anger displayed on Craig's videos pale in comparison with the anger displayed on creation videos by angry and hateful atheists/evolutionists.

I have had the same experience with atheists in my debates with them, they ALWAYS resort to name calling. I have been told to go F Jesus and myself without provocation. I noticed though alot of atheists if you respond with the Love of Jesus inspite of their attacks, it seems to calm them down and maybe gets them to start thinking that the Love of Jesus is real. (i.e. those people that were directly responsible for the most despotic, capricious, and murderous historical forces ever recorded), post it as a comment, and then laugh as I quickly get 20+ thumbs up. There is anger on both sides. From the theist side is the audacity to question what seems to them to be an open and shut case in their mind. IFrom the atheist side it is the audacity of theists to insist that they KNOW they are correct as to believe they are right that God exists and their God is certainly the correct one as well as their concept of it. Dr. Craig has mentioned several times that none of the arguments that he brings forward "prove" that God exists.
Yet atheist continue to assert that Dr. Craig is trying to "prove" God's existence.
So if atheists are angry because they think that theists "KNOW" they are correct about God, then that is the fault of the atheist, not the theist.
Moreover, from what I have seen Dr. Craig gives most lectures about God in general and not necessarily the God of the Bible.
