@Zy9dot5 You do realize that if one were talking about a timeless being, a 'day' could mean ANYTHING. A 'day' is a measurement of time imposed by humans, and a 'day' is completely subjective. A 'day' on Mars is about 30 hours long. What am I? I'm an atheist who doesn't care about other people's faith so long as they aren't hurting anyone with it. Christian faith CAN be used to justify awful things, but not all of them are like that, especially outside of the USA.

How can you claim to have no belief in god(s) or deities and say: "You can choose to believe that God created DNA..." Somehow that doesn't quite square in my book.

@Zy9dot5 Um, supposedly according the bible God made the earth in 'seven days', but it never says 7 earth days, or 7 24 hour days. God could measure a 'day' in any damn way he wanted to, as the bible states that God made THE HEAVENS and the earth, so he would have made mars too. A 'day' back then was measured by ignorant people who didn't even know that a 'day' could be different on another planet. ITS A CREATION STORY just like MANY other cultures have.

@Zy9dot5 How EXACTLY you get that I must believe in a God simply for my statement that those who do can choose to believe he made DNA is beyond me? There is actually a religious theory called 'The Watch Maker', in which religious people think that God set up the universe and all the laws of physics, and then simply sits back and watches as the cogs turn, and sees what develops. SOME RELIGIOUS PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT GOD MADE EVERYTHING THAT SCIENCE IS DISCOVERING and the bible is not LITERAL.

@plumespixie God is described as all knowing, omnipitent. If this is true, then god would already know the outcome. There would be no development, as he already would know the outcome. Seems god has an awful lot of time on his hands. The only problem with the "watchmaker" theory is that there is absolutely no evidence of said watchmaker. Not...one.... bit. I would be fully able to accept this theory if there was some sort of evidence to support it.

Plenty of SANE people believe in a higher power and take the bible to be a parable, and certainly do NOT take anything it says as LITERAL truth. I love these videos, and I know evolution is true... as far as what's feasible through natural selection. But mutations aren't feasible to me to be able to account for something in advance. Ergo, the ability to hear. Sound waves are not something accidental mutations would be able to account for would they? Its not feasible that mutation could have lead to hearing... or vision... or smell.. is it? A connection between the brain and ear organs to decode sound waves by chance mutations?

@AClRCLEOFLlGHT Read: "The greatest show on earth" by R. Dawkins. Explaining the evolution of senses is a bit too much to explain in this puny text space. But remember 1) the accidental mutations that are beneficial are preserved over time, 2) Even single-celled organisms have primitive senses that detect gravitation, light and chemicals that have survival relevance. To be very very too simple: Our senses are just elaborations and of basic structures...but it's a bit more complicated.
