  • Truth be told, ninjitsu teaches you how to use your environment to your advantage. You don't have to take the course, but just make sure you stay alert to what's around you, what you are standing on, how many people are around you in case the fight goes bad. You can use obstacles to get in the way, or keep from getting them used on you. To be honest, I love all marital arts, I attempted to start a tournament, but I was 15 and it didn't last hahah.

  • Thought I understood the ground game at least a fair bit, 3:30 in and i already feel like a mug. Subscribed.

  • ufc 111... 111 likes.

    coincidence, I think not!

  • Glad they point out the areas of modern grappling that ignore street survival concerns.

  • amazing. would be nice if there was a striking version

  • watch?v=lk0G3NV9xaA this is the same that that happend to fabor doom

  • If he has buddies you might go to the ground?

  • so now you know?? why don't you use double unders not an over under on the back. That seems really obvious..you have hooks that act like a cow catcher keeping you from slipping or riding too high leaving your head exposed. Am i missing something? Really dig your breakdowns and level of detail..keeping it real!!! lol

  • In a street fight, if you are on the ground trying to pull guard, won't his buddies just try to stomp you? lol.. In a street fight it will be better to know more boxing or kickboxing.

  • @JACKOTACO Actually most BJJ schools teach you a lot on how to deal with stomps while on the ground. In a street fight I can honestly say 2-3 boxers vs 1 black belt in BJJ will have the advantage of the black belt. It only takes a fraction of a second to throw someone, and not to mention 2-3 buddies being tossed around. Not to mention the plethora of other locks, etc. that can occur very quickly. When someone knows BJJ effectively, they can last a street fight with a few people.

  • @Audiofalcon7

how are you going to stop 2-3 stomping on you? You may have 1 in guard what about the other? You do not have 8 hands and feet.

  • @JACKOTACO That's if, and only if, you really think BJJ is about pulling guard. Remember that BJJ has its origins in a modified, more practical and realistic form of older judo. It's not just about guard - especially when someone does not know how to break their fall properly, the throws, joint locks, and fast submissions along with pragmatic thinking during the situation is enough to definitely take care of 2-3 people trying to rob you or your friend.

  • I love the ground game but my main ground game like strangely came from the wwe and shows like that where people like stone cold would do the ground n pound then i saw real MMA it changed my eyes of grappling for ever cause i figured striking is cool and submissions are okay but ground n pound was where it was at but seeing MMA i love ground n pound submission fighting the most efficient style in my eyes but whatever works for others its all cool thanks guys for showing

  • yu lads look so peaceful sitting there hahah awsome job!

  • thanks guys a i used the belly down version on one of my instructors .. he was gutted to submit to me .. but second time around he had managed to counter the belly down ....

  • Wow, my thanks to these guys, I always enjoyed watching the ground game but didn't understand it fully.

  • I absolutely love bjj and the ground game in general. i appreciate and respect fighters who take fights to the ground and go for sub after sub. Its the lay n prey wrestlers who piss me off the most. Just like Clay Guida vs Anthony Pettis. If Guida would have fought like anthony, it wouldve been a very technical and exciting ground match but laying on top of a guy and only defending his submission attempts is unacceptable.

  • very excellent videos, i'm aware of most MMA techniques anyway since being a fan since the beginning of ufc, but you guys get down to the nitty gritty haha, good shit

  • lol yess i saw a video of these actually happening where the guy gets his head smashed against the ground from both hooks tripod he got ktfod brutal

  • so hecticccc,!!

  • it makes me feel very humble to be one of the small percentage of people with a rudemantary understanding of the ground, i cant believe so many people choose to remain ignorant

  • @sharkfinnigan Im with you on that on it annoys me when idiots boo while watching an amazing ground game

  • These guys explain really well , I wished i were one of their students.

  • Awesome breakdown as always. Does anyone know where to see good footage of a straight armlock actually being carried out and breaking someone's arm? Or a straight armlock succeeding against a much larger more aggressive opponent? I like visual evidence

  • u guys forgot the KIMURA ESCAPE!!

  • if see his head im gonna go BOOM!!

  • LOVE THE GROUND GAME!!! 10% CLUB THUMBS UP!

  • Great job guys, keep up the good work!

    GSP by TKO round 2

  • @GracieBreakdown hey guys break down the kimura failed attempt of GSP against Hardy, explain the correct leg positioning so he could have had better leverage on the shoulder. YOU FREAKIN MISSED IT R U SERIOUS? CMON!

  • Go watch boxing if your want just stand up game. I think the most interesting part about MMA is the Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the struggle for the more dominant positiotns and how the fighters are always prepared to defend against something they know their opponent will attempt

  • i've noticed that the more i have been watching the more i can tolerate the ground battles, i actually enjoyed BJ vs Fitch and it seemed that quite a lot of MMA fans didn't haha

  • @1608Nikolai Trust me, that is just a phase and it will pass. The sport will come to an era where 90% of its fans will have an understanding and appreciation for the ground battles. Boxing for example has many fans, but not every single fan really understands the intricacies of the "Sweet Science" as they call it. I think in many sports, the portion of those who do not understand exactly what they are watching usually outnumber the ones that Actually do understand.

  • @kanguesso agreed.right now much fans dont respect most of the ground battles n they just like to see ppl stand n bang

  • @jas108 It's because of the years of watching too many gladiator movies, too many hollywood karate movies that makes them think that fighting is just standing and banging like a fool. It wasn't until the introduction of BJJ by the Gracies that people began to realize that those flying karate kicks we saw in movies growing up don't work in real life. At least not when your opponent can take you to the ground and choke you.

  • @kanguesso yea ur right.ppl dont realize that ur opponent dont have to stand with u.in a real fight half the stuff seen in these karate movies and whats not dont work at all.bjj was the most effective ground grappling type now u have wrestlers coming up that learn bjj and are able to nullify ppl's bjj on the ground, which most ppl today now call "lay n prey".and i think thats y most fans are starting to not like the ground game as much.too many wrestlers are fighting to decisions n stuff

  • @jas108 I agree. If you're a great wrestler and you learn the submission game, you're going to put a Pure BJJ guy in a world of trouble. There is this high school one legged wrestler named "Anthony Robles" that is just fucking insane with top control. The reason i know of him is because he's been all over ESPN highlights. You teach that kid some BJJ and he'd be a monster.

  • 2:50

    I think Dan Hardy tapped

  • Yea can you guys breakdown the Kimura too?

  • i was hoping you would breakdown the kimura attempt too :-(

  • haha I subscribed too

  • awesome videos, i just subscribed :D

  • Fantastic vidoes.

Thank you very much for posting!

  • I was part of the 90% that didnt understand the ground game. I've been a committed MMA fan since watching UFC100 and now love the ground game now i have a basic understanding. Your videos are brilliant, and im off to my first bjj lesson tomorrow!

  • @helmwang Cool man, now give BJJ a shot and try it out :)

  • @helmwang I was in the same boat man, these guys helped so much with how detailed they explain things.

  • @HeroCasey and @somesaiyanguy41 the vid was originally posted on the "GracieAcademy" channel back in April, so I'm asuming that the contest is over, I'm as bummed about it as you. You should be able to see the link in the side bar for the original posting on the other channel.

  • @HeroCasey guess so, this was added like some days ago.

  • Remove the ".mp4" from the title :)

  • I'm a 100x smarter MMA fan thanks to these 2 guys. The intricacies are unbelievable.
