@andybassman67 Both. He was supposedly the first Strat player in the UK. The band found a Fender catalog, figured the Tele was a rhythm guitar, and bought a red/pink Strat with gold hardware for the Hank's lead. Hank's why Mark Knopfler painted his Strat red. One secret to Hank's tone is the Vox AC15, same amp Lennon used. Chimey, midrangey. Opposite of the Fender amp sound, so it's a good compliment to a Mosrite or Fender guitar.
@ninebreaker21 The Shadows teamed up with Burns for a short while thus made the Burns Hank Marvin model. Hank's Strat, I believe, was bought by Cliff as a present for him and was apparently the first one imported into the UK at the time. In the US, The Ventures were using Mosrite guitars, if I recall rightly.

I don't think it's as late as 1965 as Bruce says in his intro that its from their second album which was "Out of the Shadows" released in 1963. Also, you are right about Rostill being there, but he joined after Locking left in October 1963.

@ninebreaker21 My mistake, those aren't Mosrites, they're Burns.

This wasn't 1962, but 1964.
I'm quite sure, because I was there in Brussels, Palais des Beaux Arts.

@john441220 Thank you. And I can add that this footage was filmed on 8 May 1964 in Liege.

It cant be 1962 because the shadows are playing Burns guitars and John Rostil is on Bass so its 1964 or later

It's funny the Paul McCartney introduced songs the same way during The Beatles live act in the 1960's.

I reckon this is their Paris concert in Feb 1964.
