Does anybody else out there hear more than a hint of Charlie Christian from "Live at Minton's"? Always knew this guy was good, but this is flat out smokin'
@ThankGodForCountry My username come from the first two tracks of Nine Inch Nails Halo 2: Head Like a Hole, and Terrible Lie.
No, I live less than an hour from Clinch Mountain in Tennessee (Jacksboro, if you're into specifics.) My grandfather and his family (the Byrges) were 'washed over from Luttrell in the great flood', to have heard him tell it. He was a distant cousin of Chet's, but my grandmother was his niece, and I met him at my grandmother's funeral.
@thebytegrill I don't know if it is the camera but Brent's sound has too much presence and treble and not much bottom end. For bebob that isn't the best sound and this performance left me feeling bit cold although brent plays very good(as always). Check some other Brent Mason videos and you know what I'm talking about.
@peelopuu My apologies for freaking out but I actually find it refreshing, kind of sick of that blunt big box tone. It's not 'traditional' by my ears are tired of tradition, the only tradition that's important is folks enjoying themselves and not getting ahead of themselves.
@peelopuu I didn't know there is a specific amp and guitar to play bebop and swing XDXD. Brent could play bebop with a Gibson Flying V and a rectifier and it would still sound great ;-)
@MalcaratMartinez You didn't know but now you do XD Well I mean more like that with mellow and dark sound bebob sounds right. Sure brent mason can still play the right notes but the sound isn't as full sounding as you would like it to be :p Mr. Trolololol ;)

This man is incredible. Him and Scotty Anderson are the two guitarists more than any others that make me want to just hang it up.

smokin' but fender amp and telecaster isn't the best choice when playing bebob and swing.
