Kanon was very tragic, sad. It was magnificent. Though the last episode deflated...wtf massive deus ex machina. Clannad/After Story was awe-strikingly beautiful. And they even pulled off the ending very impressively.

Oh thx but i was wishing for making new anime as good as those mentioned, i should have said that I'm romance sucker and that's why I think I've already seen almost any worthwhile anime romance aired between 1999-2011. Currently I can count of 314(233 TV aired) romance an. Of course I've seen Ef tales, that was awesome anime, also huge impact, it's my second top romance anime , right after Clannads.

Just lately I'm in pitch, not much left to watch, so I'm waiting for new ones.

I just finished watching Kanon for the first time and when it was over I felt so cheated. I was so vested in the story of all these unique characters that were at that pivotal moment that define our lives. I wanted to know that they were all okay and that were able find happiness. I was so angry that it ended but then I reflected back in my life about all those people that I loved before and never knew what really happened to them. Kanon was like life and made me reflect. Beautiful story!

@LOLLEET133764 Originally Toei made a Kanon anime. They also did Air's movie as well as Clannad's movie. KyoAni on the other hand made Air, then remade Kanon and later did Clannad S1 and S2.

@LOLLEET133764 Visual Arts treated 2 of Key's games the same way: 1 TV adaptation + 1 Movie. The only exception was Kanon that was remade in TV rather than getting a movie. Another peculiarity is that Toei makes the movies and KyoAni the series, and both studios have used the same directors for almost all titles so I guess that's just how they do things.

Also, I'm quite sure Clannad's movie is S1 and S2 together. The fact they released it before Clannad's After Story was a horrendous decision.

@LOLLEET133764 The whole last part of the movie is basically After Story up to his first real acceptance of Ushio so no, it isn't just S1. It just ignored the unimportant secondary arcs and ended the story right at the start of the Ushio arc. Let's not forget everything but the Nagisa route is not depicted. So it's not even close to being a recap of S1. More like a re-imagining of the game's Nagisa route and After Story.

Spoiler Alert. Clannad was all about the hidden dimensions of the world, when nagisa and ushio die in the end, they don't come back to life, the anime simply takes us through another dimension to tell us that maybe in another life things would have been better, that's the biggest tragedy of all! i love both

And yeah what you said about nagisa and ushio is true but if you think about it they used the other dimention for an ending to give the anime a good ending. + Neither 1 of them are sadder then Air-TV.

i haven't seen this anime yet, but will watch now. I too am a manly man, but when i watched "FUSHIGI YUGI," & ".Hack//Sign," i cried like a baby and wish someone was there to hug me, lol. i highly recomend the anime's i listed for serious anime fans. also for t.v. dramas, i recomend: "WINTER SONATA (korean drama..english subtitle version, with original korean language), & GOD GIVE ME MORE TIME (japanese drama), these dramas will have you crying to sleep.

well (JUST in my opinion) Kanon is my favorite anime of all time. AND THAT IS IN MY OPINION, NOBODY ELSES. i am watching Clannad AS and its pretty good. i'd say that the AS is bettr then Clannad itself, but Clannad is crucial to see in order to get the AS. so I'D rate it, Kanon>Clannad AS>Clannad>and THEN AFTER ALL THAT IM GONNA WATCH AIR, ...well actually no iwas gonna watch sola first, THEN air, but watevr
