This is a raster image. Illustrator uses vector this is photoshop. And this would be so much easier in Illustrator too. This dude clearly doesnt know what hes talking about.

Thank you for that! I'm a Photoshop man it seems, and to be ablr to do vectors in PS is nice, cause I don't much care for Illustrator. I sort of stumbled on this technique one day, but you have clarified how to get some actual use out of it.

Personally, I think I'd just posterise the picture first- then perhaps go from there- but there's always more than one way to do these things!!

Not to be rude, but if you're using a photo as a base, you dont really need any talent, other than the ability to trace. Hell, you could just put it in PS and use a filter to save yourself the time and trouble.

I DO use Vector programs, and yes, they do take forever, but they're one "hard as hell" if you can't grasp the concept. Tracing is still tracing no matter how hard it is, how long it takes, or what fancy program you're using.
