  • If they made a semi auto version of the saw for civilian consumers. We would deck that thing out to the max. FN makes the 249 and it just happens John Moses Browning went to FN with his ideas before his death. Its a great little gun I liked em when I was in the military.

  • I have some PMAGs and they're awesome. I don't know why the US military doesn't just license them and supply them in massive numbers. The ground forces always get screwed when it comes to new equipment.

  • @Nater245689 Yeah and I bet that the PMAG is cheaper than the mags they are buying now. I can get 1 PMAG now for 14.20 shipped. Think if I wanted 100,000 units.

  • THE M-249 DOES HAVE A MAG PORT TO ACCEPT M-16/AR-15 MAGS BUT THE SPRING IN THE MAG IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP UP WITH THE M-249'S CYCLIC RATE AND THAT IS WHY IT WILL JAM WHEN FIRING FROM A MAGAZINE.

  • correct me if im wrong but i thought the m249 SAW was chambered for 30 cal ?

  • @MariusInk

M249 is chambered in 5.56x45. The M240 GPMG is chambered in 7.62x51 (30 cal.)

  • @scollins1868 the 7.62 nato is different from the 30 cal... they are similar but the 7.62 nato was made to replace the 30 cal...

    7.62x51 nato

    7.62x63 .30-06

  • @TheDynoSoar Wow, really? In all the years I've been an avid shooter, reloader and firearms dealer, I never knew that (rolling my eyes obviously.) To those of us not older than dirt, ".30 cal" references a bore diameter, not a particular cartridge. So the following are ".30 cal" class cartridges: 308 Winchester, 7.62x51, .30-'06, .300 Win Mag, etc. etc. Even my M1 Garands don't say ".30 cal" on them, they say "Cal .30 M1".

  • @scollins1868 wow dont be such a prick, i was just putting down the facts. relax dude.

  • @MariusInk there is a version that fires 7.62 NATO, actually. However the standard version uses 5.56 NATO, as you already know.

  • @MariusInk correction, it is a 5.56mm Nato round, along with the big momma saw, the original one, ur mistakin with the M240B which is 7.62mm nato round but in civilian terms, its is a 30 cal round, i think it may be a 30.6 round.

  • Where is this video being shot? Nevada? Also is that saw a privately owned firearm or a government issued one?

  • why would u want to fire a SAW with a 30 mag

  • It was intended as a backup in case the SAW gunner ran out of belted ammo. He could then use the 30 round magazines from his squadmates M16s and M4s. The Navy variants (Mk46 Mod 0 or Mod 1) have removed the magazine well, so they no longer have this capability (weight reduction measure.)

  • if you run out of belt ammo then you can just ask anybody that has an M4 or 16 for a magazine

  • OMG muticam!!!!!!!

  • i have been a grunt for 5 years and 2 tours and have never seen a saw fire all 30 rounds out of a mag

  • You didn't just watch the Video?

  • i was complementing the magazine

  • wtf no it dosent

  • Soldiers can't choose what they want to use (unless you're in SF or SOF) because the government chooses for them... Civilians don't affect what they can & can't have.

  • SOF can't choose what they want either, it's up to the Squad Leader to decide.

  • We get a certain allowance to order things unit specific. This was on our wishlist because USGI mags are junk.

You would be surprised how much of our gear comes from out of pocket because of poor quality products that are issued.

    Fucking gear queer weekend warriors.

  • bullshit!!!!!!! ur wrong pal

  • @samtaekwondo123 solder have a list of acceptable items to chose from they many time have to carry minimum combat load-outs but there are more than on kind of most items that are permitted if your in the military you have probably taken the time to look into it and know far more than i do whether you have looked into it or not just putting this out there not attacking anyone at all

  • shanghaiwolf, are you saying that Uncle Sam doesn't supply you with enough magazines?

  • damn talk about the sound in this vid is bad due to the wind :S

  • Are you trying to show off that the PMAG functions better in the GI mags?

  • it was obviously so?

and thats besides the more basic point.

if you're going to get a beta type .223/5.56 NATO standard mag, pmags are the way to go.

    they are the best.

  • Anyone in the military knows that the 249 is a bear to keep it firing from the steel mags. You must have made a winner here if he was able to fire all 30 rounds.

  • Not quite. FN is a Belgian company, not French.

And, this particular weapon (and all the M249's and variants in the US military) are made in FN's manufactring plant in South Carolina USA.

  • Hehe. This really looks like the future. I'm from germany and was a MG3-gunner last year. The MG3 of the Bundeswehr is based on the MG42 (WWII MG) - not real new, but reliable. I wish we can get one like these now.

  • im sold

  • Next gen weapons coming through. What they need to do is make a full auto that can be mag or belt fed randomly, cutting out a lot of middle men while still having the firepower of a standerd m249 but having the ability to go move faster like lighter infantry would.

  • ARES Shrike!!! the closet thing to that.

  • Did you double spring it or is that stock ?

  • That is a complete "stock" PMAG (no modifications.)

  • Then all have to say is; WOW.

  • he needs to get a beta c-mag to match his magazine adaptor

  • that would surely defy the point. Im guessing this was developed so automatic riflemen could use m16 mags when the boxes were empty. if he could carry a c-mag, the gunner would just carry another box, they arent that much different in size.

  • really want ak47 over any gun in the world!!!

  • no man you should get a masada.

  • hells yeah! MASADA's rock!

  • how does one obtain a weapon as such?

  • Easy! Join the military! If that isn't an option, then have rich friends who own one (a transferable M249 is about $200,000) or know a weapons manufacturer with one. One last option is to become a LE/MIL machine gun dealer.

  • Joining the Army is a great start, I carried the SAW for 6 years and 1 in Iraq, absolutley fell in love with my weapon.

  • Good Stuff.

  • now thats megaforce ;)
