@fatturdburger the water helps composting. a pile with not enough water (about the consistency of a wet sponge) will not compost, just sit there looking bored. I'm guessing the smell problem is from not enough carbon to balance out the nitrogen in the poo. I think if they added more sawdust they'd get rid of that issue
i have a suggestion for the rake tines to prevent the grooves... either have them rake through the poo at an angle(instead of being directly at 90degrees to the axle) or bend a "L" onto the ends so it sweeps under with each rotation.
,I have a suggestion for funnel problem. the .Place a screw on each door 4 or 5 inched from and even with the knob you use to open the door so you can wrap a coat hanger around it.place another screw2-3 inches away from the first screw on on both barrel bodies.rotate lower barrel so it is directly face up,open the lower door ,attach the coathanger on lower door screw to body screw on top barrel. top door should be facing directly down now,drop top door open(slowly) and hook secondwire in place
The water will make it smell more.
