@ajferet Not true about the elemental vs Mechwarrior. The Elemental will be alone if he is stupid enough to let himself get into a trial of any sort with a mechwarrior. The idea of wast is one of the worst crimes among the clan, to potential waste an entire point of 5 elementals for one warrior is just that. Plus in the Books there are plenty of situations where a lone elemental fights a mech. In "Test of Vengence" a lone elemental took out a fresh Atlas single handedly.

@gribae Elementals are physically tough but Phelan Kell and Draconis warriors have beaten Clan elementals in hand to hand...... Lincoln Osis Clan Smoke Jaguars Khan is the most notable to have lost a battle with a Draconis assassin and only survived when fellow elementals saved him.

This came to a head in 3051, when the Ghost Bear clan attacked the planet Sheliak; the defenders, outnumbered and overpowered, tried to be clever and announced their challenge as football. Imagine their surprise to lose their planet, 84 points to 3.

@gribae Nuh uh. Elementals outside of armor are big and intimidating yes but htye can be taken down. plenty of times elementals have been beaten by smaller soldiers. The entire novel "Test of Vengence" is about a Ghost Bear elemental obsesed with finding and beating an innersphere warrior who repeatedly beat him in single combat both in and out of armor. and the IS warrior was not a mechwarrior. I think she Beat the elemental 4 or 5 times before Jake Kabrinski finaly beat her.

From various novels ive read it appears that Clanners take a very liberal approach to sex, they treat it as simply a recreational actiivity to relieve tension and increase efficiency, love is taboo among the Warrior Caste as is raising children the "Freebirth" way. The Warrior Caste is genetically modified to biologically prevent pregnancy, so if she was asked for a shag she probably would be up for it, doesn't necessarily mean she would enjoy it but she'd do it anyway.

Meh, I put it down to this series portrayal of the Clans, in which they are blind to the fact that many of their own acts are exceedingly cowardly. Like the time Malthus was chasing a freaking farmer with a bloody Thor. Plus Phelan, even when he was starting to get used to the Clans way of life kept questioning if what he was doing was right, which is more than what Ciro did. Plus I was being sarcastic. I like the Clans, especially the Star Adders.

The -9M is fairly fast for an IS assault mech at 64km/h. Its heat management is actually pretty good all things considered, at least in CBT. Many other mechs with much worse heat (or more difficult to manage) Atlas -K variant, Mauler, Hauptmann -OB, Banshee -5S all come to mind. Awesome can sustain 80% of its firepower indefinitely, which is pretty damned good at the end of the day.

I was talking just about the speed, but overall of course there are. But, for a 3025/3050 IS 80-90t mech, its much better than the Thug, Zeus. I mean of course the Devastator or Fafnir are better.. I'm simply speaking of that tech level.

I did managed to get an Awesome with full armor and weapons up to 90kph. Awesome + clan weaponry - a good many heat sinks + increased engine size = 90 kph and tricky heat management. Watching terrified light mechs reacting to a 90 ton war machine with full armor keeping up with them, priceless.

To the typical Clan warrior, everything is fair in battle - the point is to win with WHATEVER you have at your disposal, even if it's just a hunting knife
