  • @california342

OSHA was taking the video. They shut the job down due to wind speed and as they were leaving the crew tried to set the structure anyways. The OSHA reps were taking the video as evidence of non compliance, never expecting this.

  • made in chinese

  • oo fuck!

  • holy shit

  • No disrespect to anyone who got hurt or died but imagine the superintendent when this happened uh oh lol

  • zerwały się prawdopodobnie śruby na obrocie

  • where was this? what state ( i know it was in USA)

  • @dtremzo hahaha funny

  • I hope the people who died r ok

  • @dtremzo wtfk

  • that crane is not 45 million dollars like Tampaslice said ....im sorry but its more like 450000-plus but no where near 45 million that building wasnt that much

  • 日ごろの点検がきちんとされてないから事故は起きる

  • Uh oh, better get maaco.

  • 壊す時は一瞬だ!!(^_-)-☆

  • check the white flag at top right of building @ 0:20 it's ripping in the wind. @ 0:59 the men are struck in the smaller crane holding their basket. God Bless Those Men.

  • ale urwał

  • Now THAT is a bad day at work.

  • This kind of thing happens all too often. Any of my brothers out there who work around cranes, be careful. As you can see, it happens fast. Don't take safety for granted...

  • i just learned about this in my OSHA class. out of all the comments i have read about it, not one mentions the fact that the first operator of that crane refused to work in the dangerous winds and they got someone else to do it. 400 tons of steel in the air and high winds dont mix. its called common sense! i wish more people had it!

  • @sma0485 Not always a matter of common sense. Problem is idiots higher up who crunch numbers and demand things get done no matter what. Sad, but true.

  • fuck. I'd have been heads up as soon as it started making that nasty screeching noise. The steel support on that crane bent like hot plastic. Shit.

  • oh shit!

  • hahahaha is done!!!

  • hahahahha

    cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow some more asshats on here that no shit about cranes.... go play your xbox and eat your cherios kiddies leave the big iron to the big boys

3 lives lost yes but the 4th was the operator this type of accident wouldnt sit litley on anyones shoulders and would ruin a man in a second

  • hey man, don't be bashin' on Cheerios.

and are you REALLY proud of being a construction guy? REALLY?

  • Man that was unreal.

  • what is the jar at 0:30 ?

  • 3 minutes ago I saw this crash on Discovery. It happened becasue of the wind(70km\h) and this roof had 400t.

  • hardcore.

  • TERRORIST

There was weapons of mass destruction at the base of the crane that you cant see from this angle .

Lets figure out which country has something we need and lets get them bastards .

  • fukin afghans lol

  • $45 million dollar crane turned into scarp metal in 20 seconds. Glad to see the crane operators running away after ground supports popped out. As soon as the screeching started the 3 guys that perished had to have known they were gonna die. If crane fell to the right cameraman would be 6 ft under as well. Wnd was out of limits, defy regulations....pay the price.

  • i doubt she cost 45 million.if a 8800 double only cost 32 mill how can this pittance cost more?

  • Its almost like the camera man knew this was about to happen

  • that is bad!!

  • the screeching you heard was the brakes failing that hold the cranes cargo in place due to the wind at that height. the pops u heard was the bolts that held the mast shooting into the ground. you can see as the camera panns towards the crane the dust from some.

  • wow ok first those werent the brakes.those were the workers grinding on the structure.and second the crane was bolted as a permanent structure to the ground.and third NO bolts hold the mast on.WTF is a mast anyway?

  • to bad it wasnt 2000 i hear in 1999 it was 1% more chance that this would of happen.

  • like that will help

  • there was a man standing on the top of the building..did he die too ?

  • i work on a building site i seen some stuff happen with the crane 2 not like tho!!!!

  • Dont you just love watchin shit like this..

  • Go listen to your stupid rap music and dont come back.

  • @theoriginalmcsquare yes i do, i love cranecrashes :p the bad thing about this for me is i'm actually a towercraneoperator :D

  • @theoriginalmcsquare Three men lost their lives, people who lived on this earth just like you, remember that...

  • what is the screeching sound? I imagine the loud pop are bolts and metal breaking.

  • The screeching is probably the frame and supports / counterbalance at the base bending before it breaks

  • it was workers grinding on the structure.you people act like you have no brain at all..and yeha bending after so many heavier lifts hahhahha

  • Very sad. But the best in catagory hands down, could use follow up with walk around crash site.

  • omg....

  • holy *hi*

  • OMG WTF I HOPE I NEVER SEEN THAT

  • жесть...

  • z przeznaczeniem nie wygrasz ....jestem operatorem .....zegnam sie z zona co rano ale to moje zycie

  • OMG Terrable...

  • Damn that is sad and tragic.

  • OMG poor people and their familys me crying

  • OMG..

  • I Gotta admit that this Crane was so big! Poor people died. You never might know this might happen again! :(

  • Amazing video. The Godzilla scratching his nails on a chalkboard sound was a pretty good sign something bad was about to happen. When the right side supports gave way it sounded like CDI was involved. Shame 3 guys had to die just to rush the job!

  • WOW!!!

  • You can see them being it on 1:01 in the bottom middle left of the screen

  • What show is this?

  • THIS IS REAL RETART

  • Then why is there a narrator?!

  • Also, I didn't say it was fake - I've seen this before. So think before you call someone a retard.

  • SORRY AND WHY DID YOU SAY IT WAS A SHOW

  • I asked what show is this because there is a guy saying at the begining that the crane killed 3 people in July 1999.

  • I'm a retired Ironworker . This is typical of bosses who want to do more than is possible. Probably high winds. I never set a whole section of roof puttogether like that before

  • I know squat about construction, but I was kinda thinking the same thing. I know cranes are supposed to be extremely sturdy for obvious reasons, but that section it was lowering just appeared too massive to NOT set off some type of mishap.

  • see thats your problem, nothing is impossible after all america is said to have put the first man on the moon yet they cant even put a roof truss on a stadium lol...only pple with small minds think things are impossible,if everyone was like you nothing would get done lol

  • As soon as i heard them huge "gong" sounds my stomach started to turn. Imagine what the poor men would have been thinking during the last few seconds of their lives..

Was the company sued by any of the families?

  • The crane in the background, w/3men in the bucket w/2 way communications guiding the frame downward,God bless.

  • Thats some serious loading to cause the king pin to shear off...i understand that the additional wind loading on the structure caused this. very sad.

  • jesus

  • OOOOOOOOOOOMFG!! thatsss fucked uppp..

LOL? your just a stupid fuck for saying lol

  • lol? thats not funny there was people that was killed! that is no laughing matter!

  • It's not funny when something like that happens! ya know people get killed because of that and thats nothing to laugh about

  • Yeah, they must have been Americans. If they were irish, there would have been a drop in the price of wisky and spousal abuse claims.

  • how right you are lol

  • That wasn't funny. This was a serious tragedy not some comedy crane crash!

  • added a year today, sad sad sad..

  • The shreaking sounds like friction brakes on the works. Was it a hydraulic or friction crane? The "booms" escape me. My safety engineer told me he heard bolts fail(?) some where on the crane. I don't think its in the base section of the lattice because thats still attached after the crash. It almost looks like the boom hit the front girder. Can you get the Discovery chan. version of this anywhere? At any rate,3 men lost their lives. Dangerous job, but preventable.

  • it was a friction crane the booms are the tunn table blots sheering off u can clearly see that he was not levled very very very sad im a crane opperater and that scared the shit out of me

  • Man...as soon as I heard creaking, I was like, "Oh fuck...". That sucks that the crane crash demolished half the building, which probably took months to build...

  • The rule is, when around a large crane, If you hear scraping creaking metal and a big boom, you should probably start running.

  • wow

  • the crane named the big blue

  • .... D:

  • OMFG. its scary. if crane falls this side operator would be dead.

Crash is cool, but its sad, coz 3 ppl lost their lifes.

  • that fucking sucks that they died and that the crane went crunch

  • The guys filming are lucky they were on the right side of this. Pretty intense!!

  • wow the best crane collapse video!!!

    incredible!!!

  • OMFG

  • dude that was horrible but man those things were benier than taffy

  • YAAA TRICK YAAA

  • oh shit!

  • Is there a memorial for the three men outside this stadium?

  • How far away did people hear this horrible crash?

  • ...incredibile...

  • i saw a documentary on how it happenend before and wow!!!!!!!!?????

  • OMFG

  • omg!

  • I'll never forget the day after I first saw this video a few years ago. I was rigging for a lift with two 1400's the next day (nothing nearly as big) and had to be right between the two. This video is the reason I've refused to rig a few times on windy days. Being safe is a lot smarter than being dead or causing someone else harm.

  • 2 people from my union died in this accident.....it had nothing to do with the weight of the load, infact that crane "big blue" is designed to handle almost a third more than the weight being lifted....it was a windy day and all wind tests were taken but one.....the outside winds were just under legal limit of operation.....

  • We watched this video in our certification training. Is it tru that the operator that normally operated the crane would not make the lift, and they got someone else. We were told that the someone else was a backhoe operator?

  • im sorry for your loss i cant imagine,, that was serious shit,,

    Sean

    I.W. local 7 boston

  • This is why we have regulations in place for cranes and the loads they can carry. Every thing that is added to ASTM standards is written in blood. I'm sorry for the families of these poor men.

  • is anyone die

  • yeah i think 4 died

its been on TV quite often and is a moment why buildup in the US sucks... no security

    same with healthcare system

  • there is a lot of security standards in the us, if we follow the rules, a lot of accidents wouldnt happen, the problem here was that it was a very windy day, the general contractor roushed the project because time was a enemy to them, the sub refused to continue with the project because of the strong winds and the hired somebody else to do the thing, and the results, there they are!@

  • oh nasty.. those are some bad sounds.

  • F**k me janet, that ain't no way to go,somebody's gonna pay for that, that's for sure , wtf was the lift supervisor doing, tossing it off? probably....

  • wow!!

  • The People Who Work On Dat R N JAIL CAUSE DAY WASNT SAPOSE 2 WORK ON DAT. DATZ SAD REAL TALK

  • say what youngsnoophuslin??? do ou speak english?i didnt understand a word you typed. run that through microsoft word spell check

  • i know where this place is

  • Well..that sucks..poor bastards...

  • omg :o

  • very sad.

  • thats awful

  • that is sad .. c

  • Money and deadline obsessed morons cause this kind of accident.

  • Actually, the crane was the biggest in North America. They unwisely decided to move a 450 ton roof segment in winds that reached 26 miles per hour, and the thing collapsed.

  • what a shitty crane

  • LOL...yeah it must have been made in China...

  • rip

  • HOW?

  • a stupid crane operator and a job super that didnt pay attention to the weather report...there were very high winds about 60 feet off the ground and that crane was pushed to it's limits with the load it was bearing so just the slightest breeze blew it over..

  • very sad.
