@TSGInspector , here are some FACTS that you may like to google "Deaths in police custody since 1998: 333; officers convicted: none" according to IPCC study published Dec 2010. Out of the total of 333 deaths, 87 people had been restrained, most commonly being physically held down by officers. In 16 of those cases, restraint was linked directly to the death, and four were classed as "positional asphyxia". IPCC says juries are unwilling to convict police officers. Thank you for your comments.
@TSGInspector , thanks once again for taking the time to write your comments. A total of 333 people have murdered in or following police custody since 2000, but why no officer has ever been successfully prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned over the murders since 2000? Is that a graceful record to be proud of? Where does the buck stop for no evidence "found" to convict, and no intervention to stop murders of 2.5 unarmed civilians every month since 2000? Is the rotten apples FELL like Tomlinson?
@TSGInspector , thanks for taking the time to write your comments. Are you implying the British court is wrong? Are you implying the cameras lied? Why 15 other law enforcement officers failed to intervene, and protect Ian Tomlinson? What about murder of Mark Duggan in Tottenham on Thursday 04 August 2011? What about the murder of that Brazilian in Stockwell in July 2005? In all three cases and many others, other police officers standby as a civilian is mudered. Are police officers above the law?
dsyk did you not understand he was walking home he had nothing to hide he was not apart of anything so why should he have to run what these police did was distgusting they can kill inocent members of the public but one of there officers gets killed in a riot and the person responcible gets more than one life sentence sorry but i know whats fair and what isnt and thats not
and police forces want us to show them respect these officers are just bullys, bullys at school then everyone went to college and they went no where so they thought how could i still be a cunt ill join the police force news flash 99% of you are a fuckign joke
im british and im joining the US army to fight and be an amercain citizen then if i survive ill join the US police its been my dream and no matter what people say im fighting and living in america
@xXxcollectorxXx Go U.S. Marines, preferably infantry. The quality of the training is in a league of its own and pay grades are the same across the branches. The Army just gives you more benefits and incentives, but you do receive poorer training and discipline. Marines however, are cocky as hell and tend to be a little crazier but trust me they are the way to go.
Newsflash update: British court ruled Tue 24 May 2011 that PC Simon Harwood to face manslaughter charges over the death of Ian Tomlinson, proving the police is not above the law. 15 other police officers at the scene failed to intervene/protect Tomlinson and stoodby as he was attacked by Harwood.
I don't mean to sound disrespectful with Ian Tomlinson (RIP) but you don't just walk by at demostration of that kind so full of tension and surrounded by all those police officers ready for the action, like if you were invisible to them.. anybody who'e been in one on either side knows what am talking about
@dsysk , thanks for your feedback. However, on 22 July 2005, Jean Charles de Menezes was not near any demonstration of any kind. But he was also killed as other police officers stoodby, closed ranks to cover up, British subverting justice.
@spsyed the British manage to do something about this stuff to get the truth out. The Americans would just sit back and take what the government has told them. Hell, the officers would probably be rewarded like for example, the officer that stopped a paramedic from doing his job, he was given paid vacation and the paramedic was fired and charged with assault. Another policeman attacked an 84 year old man and broke his neck when he put his hand on him; the old man was charged with assault.
@dsysk dude i was in Belgium once with my g/f on a little jolly we came out of a bar and walked 2 streets to find ourselves in the middlle of major football violence ,,people do live and work in these streets
In April 2011, British court ruled that Ian Tomlinson was killed unlawfully by the police officer who pushed Ian during the G20 protests in 2009 London. Some 15 police officers stoodby; did not stop the fatal attack on Ian, and failed to protect and help/aid Ian. Are other police officers just as guilty as the officer who killed Ian Tomlinson?
its cool man awesome... i love the officials beating the hell out of britishers and americans...coz thats what you think is crime (coz it happened in your contries not iraq or afghanistan) otherwise it is justified
@Macsgrafs that's a ridiculously ignorant comment. Though he has turned out to have bullshitted and is ripping the country to shreds. He's doing it now in the hope that people won't remember at the next election.
@2:11 this is messed up. the man was just walking home and he died just cause he was passing by the protesting crowd? thats crap!!!!! i think id shoot one of those cop and not feel remorse. sorry.
Police brutality is a problem that, if I myself become a police officer, intend to root out. No wonder everyone hates them when there are badge wearing criminals like these on the street.
Good uk police should get tougher cause people walk all over them. They can't help it tho cause the punishments the courts give are weak and stupid. But I think the Cop how draws his baton and hits the lady with it is ok cause there was tons of protestors getting nasty and it was self defence if he thought he was gonna get attacked. They couldn't prove the push actually killed the man. But it was wrong and ott to do that. Proberly lose of temper.
@TallAlexFrancis Agreed. I think the guy who pushed Thomlinson was an exception in that he probably either, like you say, lost his temper, or he could have been abusing his position as a police officer by using it as an excuse to act the hard man. Either way, I think the police should be given more powers. It gets me annoyed when I see people abusing police officers and they can't do anything for fear of being punished.
