Gillick's fault. His pass on Torrence was fair but why did he cut back to the inside? Foolish move, he should have stayed to the outside and used his momentum to swing wide. He just tried to bump Jackson out of the way (who wasnt that wide). Gillick has no one to blame but himself for allowing himself to be in such a bad position.

CROOKED lane draw. David was 2nd seed & given the 3rd worst lane. On a low bank like this, top seeds should get 5-6

His move on Jamaal was hardnosed, but I've seen worse. Bershawn was high on the lane, and there was room. David pulled the same move at AVIVA a couple weeks before when he was given space.

Contact was incidental at worst. This isn't ballroom dancing. If anything, it was Bershawn's fault (went to go wide, tried to come back in after David took the rail)

@palestine517 Other way around! Bershawn was running on the line then cut and leaned in (taking advantage of the banked turns) as Ireland was passing. The officials screwed this one up or it could just be a technicality.

gillick looked to be carrying the most speed and even after he had to kick again he still seemed fresher that the rest so i think he would have won had he gone wide and taken the safer route. we will have to see how he does in Barca.

thats very funny, if he didnt get DQed for ruining jacksons run he would have been for cutting off torrance, When overtaking you have to be 2 metres clear, not half a foot. Any contact made when overtaking on the inside in solely the fault of the man overtaking on the inside. I think what you meant to say was "gillick doesnt know how to run without lanes and should learn to give himself a chance for 2012"

@mrcatohead... I agree that Gillick cut up the two Americans in the last 100m. It was sweet revenge for Torrance that he came through to take bronze after DG cutting across him with 90m left. But that's indoor running - dog eat dog; and as Gillick said after the race on RTE radio 1 "i'm an aggressive type runner & have no interest in second place".

Had Bershawn not been in the way, it would have been a two horse race on the basis of Davids momentum coming into the home straight. But I still think Chris would have won coz he looked so relaxed. Unfortunate but not the end of the world, Davids improved an awful lot & looks good for Barca in August. Well done Chris & big congrats to the Cuban & Torrance for coming through on the outside.

@packieenright are you being serious. Did you see the same race I did. This guy bumped into two people. He was side by side with the other american and saw that he would not give up the inside so he elbowed him back to get the inside(3:57). Then he tries to get in the inside of batman and push him back too...He was not being sandwiched, and he had the chance to get the outside lane--but of course, he wanted the easy way out and I'm glad he didnt win. I hate dirty runners.

There was no gap on the inside to go for so David ended up bumping into a fatigued Bershawn. Maybe David should have gone outside Bershawn but panicked when he heard the Cuban coming through, thinking hed get sandwiched.

Thanks Losseveter coz I know how long these take to upload. David shouldnt have been DQ not that it matters anyway. Unfortunate on him how Bershawn had tightened up in lane 1 on the last bend (blocking the lane) & Bershawn had no interest in medalling at that stage, he was in survival mode. This quenched all of Davids momentum & youre never going to restart with 350m gone coz of lactic acid build up in the legs.

theres no such thing as blocking a lane, you have to make your own position and you cant make contact when passing on the inside. Jackson showed his experience of running without lanes indoors as most top americans do, gillick showed his inexperience in the way he ran

because he ran this race like dick head, he ruined 2 races in process. He tried to make postitions that werent there, you can see that the americans had more knowledge because they found good positions right from the break unlike gillick

horrendous race thats a full second off the standard. one of the worst champ finals ive seen. Gillick should be spewing- he's only got himself to blame. you cant come off with 250 to go in 4th spot and expect to get past 3 guys in an indoor final. you have to be leading or in second place...or at least leave your surge to the very last straight...absolutely horrible.
