DUDE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CASE OF YOUR PC

It makes the problem of overheating much worse, you need the airflow fo the fans to keep ti cool, you dont have this without the case.

Um... if you take the case off, the ventilation is much bigger, which means you have more cooling... But then you do run the risk of more dust/general rubbish getting jammed in your PC...

If you take the case off the hot air isnt taken away, it just heats up the air around it, fans suck in cool air and expel hot air, keeping the inside relatively cool. I know it sounds stupid but its true.

If that is the case, how come my old PC ran 5-10 degrees centigrade cooler with the case off?

because clearly that wasnt a very high performance PC at all. Plus it is the case the majority of the time, in winter when the air is cooler, case off or on makes little difference, in a warm room in summer it makes alot of difference.

That works, seeing as modern CPUs are more efficient and run at cooler temperatures... My current one is two-three times faster than it, and runs at temperatures of 60 degrees less... Go figure..

its not my xbox, its my pc -.- i put my case off so the CPUCooler und CaseCooler sounds 1000% more ;/ its very anoying, but my cpu runs to hot if i close the case -.-

or just the opposite of what u said becouse if u have 2 fans, 1 to push the air and one to pull out, than your airflow will be better when the case is on, try some cases. I know what it means couse i have GF9600GT passive and it was like i could make a fried egg on my case
