A vivid and amazing portrayal of LIFE. I've never fallen in love the way I did with these characters. Rosamund Pike is spectacular, as I've come to expect, and Paul Giamatti broke my heart all the way through with his uncanny ability to be loved wholeheartedly.

i watched it last night. I went to the cinema with my girlfriend because we wanted to see Steve Carell´s but all the tickets were sold out, so we decided to watch this one. I dont know if it was destiny or what, but by far this is one the greatest movies i have seen in the last few years. It mixes everything, comedy, romanticism, affairs, tregedy, drama...We were only 20 people watching it, but believe me, all of us laughed and cried like babies. Excellent movie! go watch it!

Looks and sounds like a Canadian made-for-television movie complete with two plus hours of torturous flatline dialogue that would have a passive village idiot demanding to know why there are no commercials. I'm still not convinced that movies about whiny, jobless rich people who are as spiritually attuned to life as a fire hydrant, is a good thing. Kudos to Minnie Driver who avoided being gang tackled by the rest of these bloodless thesbians. They were offside when the play started anyway.

I haven't seen the movie but if it's 1/2 as funny as the book, it musn't be missed. Richler was a genious. The book won numerous awards as both a comedic and dramatic novel. Also, from what I know of Richler, the Barney character has a lot of Mordecai in him. Scotch & cigars, baby - the only way to self medicate!
