I remember this clearly from 1967, when I was six years old. I thought it was pretty cool then, and I sang along (though I don't think I quite got all the words right). We had just moved to Montréal, just in time for Expo 67.
I remember hearing this, and I must say, it creates a really bad pain in me ears. It has a really cheesy, marching sound to it. It reminds me of that Canadian Centennial sound that was released in 1967. I remember hearing that song in school, I was six years of age at the time. I am very surprised that hearing, and learning to sing that song in school did not turn me off of music. It brought great pain to me ears. I do have to respect muusic because, music is a very personal thing so, I a
As you may know, Dolores Claman, who composed this, also composed the similarly iconic (and beloved [though now defunct] "insititution" Hockey Night in Canada theme). This song originally accompanied Michael Chapman's 16 minute multi-image (and Oscar winning) film "A Place to Stand" in the Ontario pavilion at expo '67. There once was a time when almost every Canadian child had some knowledge of this song, Gimby's "Canada", and "Something to Sing About", such was the national fervor of the time.
@Bradat26 Being from Quebec City, I would trade off poutine anytime for this song. Way much enjoyable than overrated bullshit from Gilles ViIgneault...
@sailormatlac I actually love you. I find it lovely to meet a person from Quebec who appreciates Anglophone culture. Although, while your entitled to your opinion, remember that French Canada and poutine are still extremely badass.
I am not big on patriotism, but I LOVE this country. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Maybe Quebec had poutine at the time. Always loved this song. We sang it in school in 1967, but who didn't back then?
