  • I am not big on patriotism, but I LOVE this country. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

  • I remember this clearly from 1967, when I was six years old. I thought it was pretty cool then, and I sang along (though I don't think I quite got all the words right). We had just moved to Montréal, just in time for Expo 67.

  • I remember hearing this, and I must say, it creates a really bad pain in me ears. It has a really cheesy, marching sound to it. It reminds me of that Canadian Centennial sound that was released in 1967. I remember hearing that song in school, I was six years of age at the time. I am very surprised that hearing, and learning to sing that song in school did not turn me off of music. It brought great pain to me ears. I do have to respect muusic because, music is a very personal thing so, I a

  • Or my god, farmer2win, PLEASE tell me that song you use in your brief intro! It's so catchy, and I KNOW I've heard it somewhere before!

    Thanks,

    -MacLean

  • @prodiddler hello my friend, the song at the start of this song is ashes to ashes -by David Bowie

  • @farmer2win Thanks a ton man!

    The best from Montreal!

  • farmer2win, do you own the actual album? I've always wondered if there's more than one song on the record?

  • One person hates being Canadian.

  • I'm performing this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember this song so well!

  • i leaned this song in music

  • This song totally channels elements of Elmer Bernstein's "The Magnificent Seven" - go, Dolores - you rock, girl!

  • my first grade teacher sing that song when I was young.

  • As you may know, Dolores Claman, who composed this, also composed the similarly iconic (and beloved [though now defunct] "insititution" Hockey Night in Canada theme). This song originally accompanied Michael Chapman's 16 minute multi-image (and Oscar winning) film "A Place to Stand" in the Ontario pavilion at expo '67. There once was a time when almost every Canadian child had some knowledge of this song, Gimby's "Canada", and "Something to Sing About", such was the national fervor of the time.

  • I really need to download this to my mp3 player!! I wish Indiana had a song like this!

  • Ever hear Jim Carrey sing this.....absolutely hilarious...Think he did it on Conan when he was in Terranna

  • I remember this so well... the centenial year! What an exciting time.. Expo 67,,, and many others!

  • ontario boy here...love it....

  • Maybe Quebec had poutine at the time. Always loved this song. We sang it in school in 1967, but who didn't back then?

  • @Bradat26 Being from Quebec City, I would trade off poutine anytime for this song. Way much enjoyable than overrated bullshit from Gilles ViIgneault...

  • @sailormatlac I actually love you. I find it lovely to meet a person from Quebec who appreciates Anglophone culture. Although, while your entitled to your opinion, remember that French Canada and poutine are still extremely badass.

  • @sailormatlac I really like this Ontario piece. But, I also like Vigneault's songs.

  • When Ontario was proud.

  • A place to stand, a place to grow, while we stand knee-deep in snow, ONTARI-AIRY-AIRY-AIR-E-O ! ! !

wow, gee, gosh. Who wouldn't JUMP at a chance to live there............and not one word about that freeflowing gravy for those fries!

  • so so sadly we didn't have Poutine back then!!!!

  • REALLY?! there was no poutine in 1967?
