  • what is your audio interface friend?

  • @brunito1992xd Hey it's an m-audio profire 2626.

  • Ignore my previous comment. I removed the (fairly new) strings i had on it. Oiled the fretboard, put on some fresh strings and set it up completely. This shit is awesome now.

  • When i use the exact same plugins, settings, impulse etc, and record something (emg81) it sounds fizzy and muddy and absoute horseshit compared to this :S

  • Catharsis Impulse site is blocked by AVG, and it pops up malicious site warning when i try to ignore it? Any chance you could upload the impulses and provide the link, or email them to me?

  • what kick and snare? nice!!

  • @ACLeftyGuitar Hey, I haven't access to the project files at the moment so can't be sure but the snare is pretty much the same deal as what I did in my Superior Drummer - snare layering video (on my channel) except I think I used a slate snare instead of one of the superior samples. Lots of superior's "mid" distance room mics mixed in. The kick is a mix of superior's default kick, slate kick 15 and 10 and some random sample I found. The kick and snare are all layers, no eq.

  • Sounds great. No reverb on the solo, just the soundtoys echoboy delay?

  • @MetalArcade Yep that's right, just the delay.

  • hey man great videos

what guitar and pickups do you use?

  • @alperr307 Thank you! I use an esp eclipse with emg 81 pickup.

  • @fearcomplexmusic thanks for the reply. i learned a lot from your videos

    keep up the great work

  • @alperr307 Good to hear!

  • how do you pan wih cab impulses? I can't double track with cab impulses

  • @Metallica1554 2 separate tracks panned 100% L&R. When I record 4 tracks I'll usually pan the other 2 80% L&R.

  • @fearcomplexmusic

Isn't that very CPU intensive? Isn't there a way to create group track for rhythm guitars, etc?

  • @Metallica1554 It sure is, you probably can do that with Revalver but I haven't tried. I've done it with the free impulse loaders. I usually just render my tracks to stems when I'm happy with the tone. I'll keep the clean DI tracks so I can change things later if needed.

  • That snare is incredible 0_o is it a blend of your own samples? amazing video as usual man.

  • @idreamtofflight Thanks for the comment. It's a blend of a bunch of samples. I'll be doing a video on sample blending shortly!

  • what DAW are you using?? very nice all of your videos btw...

  • @Tharladyn7 He uses Reaper, not sure which version, but it's definately

  • @Tharladyn7 Hey I'm using Reaper.

  • 70th up! so like ur channel. subscribed many times ago. and i had started use "kefir" after ur tutorial. also - ur "orange cab impulse" is my fav. thx man!

  • @RavesevenRavenholm Thanks a lot! Good to hear you like the Orange impulse. Great cabs, sold mine and of course regret it lol.

  • Did you use any stereo widening on the guitar track or master bus?

  • @mkmorrison04 I did, just on the guitar bus using the SPL Vitalizer VST. That thing is an amazing plugin, I should do a video showing it on the mix bus.

  • @fearcomplexmusic stereo widening tutorial would be awesome, before widening and after, also guitar sound with no vst enabled would be great. Appreciate your posts, thanks.

  • Congrats man! Nice to hear N.Y.Avatar sounding so good! I wasn't able to achieve such a good drum tone with this preset. Reaper 4.13?

  • Hey man, which plugin do you use as trigger device for the snare and kick?

  • @simonpvo2 Hey Simon I use Drumagog 5

  • @fearcomplexmusic Awesome! I use that myself :D But how do you manage to layer multiple samples at the same time?

  • @simonpvo2 I'll just use one instance of Drumagog and select a gog to be triggered from midi, right click the track in Reaper and render to stem track. Then choose another gog and render that and so on. When I've 5 or 6 of my go-to kicks rendered I'll remove drumagog. It brings my old dual core pc to it's knees!

  • @fearcomplexmusic Ahh, splendid!

  • You're the master of tones! Good job :)

  • @ridi, @MrSpamBen Good to hear thanks!

  • excellent soloing on this one! love it ^^

  • How many channel do you use on solo?

  • @gitarjam How many tracks? Just 1.

  • Is there a reason you use the TS808 vst instead of just using full gain on the X50 vst ?

  • @megahurtz30 Hey megahurtz, the tse808 is there to just tighten up the low end and low mids a bit. It's not there to provide any additional gain although sometimes I'll use it to do that with a sim of an Orange amp or some of the Marshalls that could do with more gain.

  • @fearcomplexmusic Hmm ok thx. Yes some amps do need an aditional gain, no doubt. How do you find the TS808 VST? (since you have or have tested the real deal)

  • @megahurtz30 I don't have a real TS so I can't say but I have compared the TSE808 with the TS emulations in Revalver and Amplitube, and found it just as good.

  • This is great FCM. Are u still planning on releasing an album with tutorials on how u put it together? I think a lot of people would part with money for that.

  • @betacorpse Cheers BC! I'm going to start uploading videos of what I compress and eq and how.

  • What song is this? I think I've heard it before

  • @ktxdgqtx It's an old song of mine, my brother who does the lead has a video of it up here somewhere. Maybe it was that?

  • @fearcomplexmusic I think you're right, Its an insane song btw, you guys should release an ep or album of some sort

  • @ktxdgqtx Yeah should have something out in the not too distant future. Hopefully!

  • Also, could you do a video on how to route all the kit pieces in SD2 in individual tracks in Reaper? I tried doing it with Addictive Drums and it worked, but I used the same method on SD2 and nothing. Also, maybe a tutorial for using drum samples?

  • @DirtyFuckingStudent In Reaper go to Insert - Virtual instrument on new track - Superior. It will then give you the option to add about 20 tracks to the project. You can then route any drum to any of those tracks within the Superior interface. Go the mixer tab in Superior and say if you wanted to send all the snare tracks to their own track in reaper you simply change the output from the snare tracks from 1/2 to 3/4. Route the kicks to 5/6, toms to 7/8 etc...

  • Why are you using ReValver to load the impulses?

  • @DirtyFuckingStudent Reaper wasn't finding my regular impulse loaders for some reason so just used Revalver.

  • Don't expect to be able to have two different tracks each with these three VST's while on a computer with no more than a 2ghz CPU.

  • Man you really have talent. Great rythm and great lead tone.

  • @Dimeist Thanks Dimeist!

  • that is some good sounding fake guitar tone. I have tried to do some of the impulses like you have explained in other videos but I don't think logic supports them. need those au units...

  • Awesome lead playing

  • fucken awesome dude! could you share the tse x50 please!! (Y)

  • @ricardolobatos Hey the settings are in the pics.

  • sounds kinda plastic to me.

  • Great tutorial dude, I don't close to the tones you get from Amp Sims so its awesome to see what they are capable of

  • @drawnacrol Thanks man appreciate it.

  • @fearcomplexmusic No prob dude, I spent the last few hours tweaking Lecto + Legion and I'm finally getting some good rhythm tones. The Catharsis impulses really make a big difference. Do you do much EQing besides High?Low Pass

  • i think x50 needs a lot of work yet. tse x30 and legion are sounding better. i don't know it just has a vibe that i dont like very much.

  • What's the second song you played? I swore ive heard that before

  • Good Tone As usual, Do you find that revalver Impluse Loader better than other?

  • @crabbabuzz Thanks crabbabuzz, it's quick but I mainly used it because reaper couldn't find my regular impulse loader (lecab)

  • Good sound.

  • the rythm is doubled tracked isn't it?

  • @metalrhoads Hey metalrhoads yeah just double tracked in this case.

  • <3

  • And what do you choice for the kick and snare?

  • @GvTorck There's 3 kicks blended and 4 snares. With superior I find it's snare either have too much crack or too much dull thud. So I've got better results combining 2 drums with those qualities than simply boosting the lows on the cracky snare or the top end of the chunky snare. Same goes for the kicks, although they're much harder to work with and having good samples from another library like Slate drums will make your job a lot easier.

  • do you really set pregain on 8? its sounds very muddy if i do it with the same settings

  • @Heretic123456

the settings on the screen won't work for you, this because there many factor (for example: different pick up and soundcard) that affect your input signal. I suggest you never use presets, but use your ear. You can use this preset as a starting point to create your sound

  • @JeffHanneman82 well i have my own settings....i just kinda wondered because ia have a ton more gain when i used the settings. and i dont think it has something to do with the soundcard.

  • @Heretic123456 I have the gain set high because I keep the signal going to my interface fairly low.

  • @fearcomplexmusic Hey man! Fantastic tone!

Do you know if there's a way to reduce the signal going into a Line 6 UX2?

  • @jaunzim I couldn't adjust the instrument level on my UX1. I think the only way around that is to use a D.I box in to the mic pre, which can be controlled. I never had an issue with the toneport's instrument level though.

  • Especially impressed with what the Echoboy adds to the sweetness of the lead. Too bad it's so expensive :l

  • @iSometimesWriteMusic Yeah man Echoboy is great. Best delay plug out there IMO.

  • Whenever I watch your videos I get depressed cause I just keep struggling on...been trying to get superior drummer to sound good for the last month with no luck.. :( and lets not even get started on guitar tone! ha ha Nice one man!!

  • @jacquesokes Thanks! Stick at it with Superior Drummer, the overheads are decent, snares are ok. It's the kicks that are lacking and need most work. The room mics are great. Especially the 'mid' distance mics.

  • @fearcomplexmusic Thanks man, I will just stick it out, when I have enough confidence and start getting a decent hang of things I will post a video comment and you can hear my either "success" or "failure"...haha What samples do you use to replace the snare and bass drum if I may ask?

  • @jacquesokes Cool post a video response and I'll check it out! The kick is a mix of Slate drums kick 15, 10 and some random sample I downloaded somewhere, of a Tama kick I think. The is Superior's default snare & whichever one has the most low end ( can't think of the name ) & a Slate snare and another no name sample I found somewhere. I also have the 'mid' distance room mics in Superior picking up only the snare and it's high in the mix. Thanks to those mics I didn't have to use reverb.
