Apparently, CBS wouldn't allow the full title of Arlene's play to be mentioned on the air because it was "too suggestive" (NO ONE had an illicit lover in prime-time back then- even on a late Sunday evening).
There was no "WHAT'S MY LINE?" on "October 1, 1965"- that fell on a FRIDAY. This episode was originally telecast live (even though the word "live" was eliminated from Johnny Olsen's opening announcement on this kinescope copy) on Sunday, October 17, 1965.
@ClassicShowbiz Jesse looks pained, doesn't he? I think it's just because he's got kind of a small mouth and a big chin though, and thick eyebrows that naturally slope upwards towards the center. It gives him a permanent "I'm hating this" expression.
at the height of her sophisticate / Woman-of-the-World period -- journalist Dorothy Kilgallen.
CBS broadcast this episode a month and a week before her stunningly premature death from -- in the words of Wikipedia -- "a fatal combination of alcohol and Seconal, possibly concurrent with a heart attack." She looks wonderful on this night.
1:25 -- In the mid 1960s, Milton Berle made a comeback. He appeared in all sorts of television programs. This eventually lead to the resurrection -- resuscitation may be the better word -- on ABC of his TV variety show. It lasted 13 weeks. This appearance is part of that comeback. He is not quite as funny as Groucho Marx in his two panel appearances, but Berle gets his laughs anyway. So far as I can tell, this is Berle's only Sunday night guest panelist appearance.
Bennett's oh-oh-oh comment refers to Sandy Koufax' performance in the World Series, which concluded three days before this.

When Milton Berle dressed as a woman he always reminded me of my grandmother.
