This must be among the best performances in any of the disciplines, in the history of figure skating.
It is too bad that they weren't able to deliver this at the Olympics in 92...although they won. I would have loved for them to win w/ this kind of performance there...
I'm still seething that the powers that be on Youtube took down so many of the M&D videos (among others) that some fans had so lovingly put up. I remember there used to be the 1992 worlds performance and the US feed of the 1992 Olympics as well as some other competitions and interviews of this couple. I absolutely adore them and am happy to see at least some of their work here. This team was so incredibly gifted and were just a pure joy to watch.
Agree with ShaefDawg. This team should've won gold in Norway. Such a blatant case of favoritsm with the judges who were SO IN LOVE with the fact that 'lil Katia was coming back to skate as an amateur again. No knock on GG but there was moving off the spot in G&G's side by side spins OP-several bobbles towards the end of their LP in '94. Towards the end it appeared they phoned it in.Didn't appreciate Scott Hamiltons' obvious bias and it was VERY obvious toward G&G in his CBS commentating.
wouldn't it be nice to see this side by side with g&g's liebestraum modified to LP quality? ;) g&g skated to this piece as an exhibition only. i'm more of a g&g fan, but i do have to say m&d look so flowing and radiant here, especially natalia.
M&D were really in their prime in 1991 - their best year ever. Everyone made a big deal about Natalia's weight gain, but Artur was the one who had noticably gotten out of shape by 1994. If they were in this shape in 1994, G&G would have been in serious trouble.
Makes me practically cry every time.

Another one of the great pair teams of all time. Personally my favorite. And this performance was their best.

This program would beat any team in the world! I still haven't seen one that tops it...

G&G shouldn't have won gold in Lillihammer. It was a clear case of favoritism amongst the judges.
