This video would be a great help for those novice growers who have just started with aeroponics. With this kind of gardening method, it is imperative that a grower knows the proper ways on how to mix and add nutrients because the growth of the crops grown in this kind of technique depends on it.
i know in aquatic growing (fish tanks) you can use magnesium sulphate heptahydrate (epsom salt) and calcium carbonate (ie. most calcium pills or tums) to supplement gh (general hardness or measure of calcium and magnesium in water).
the price vs. quantity i think would be a good thing.
my question now: would it work? i know it makes a huge difference when watering the garden with waste water from my tanks.
thaaaaank you!!!!!!!! i am lazy exeptfor plants this totally answers my question& thats one worry off my mind! I modeled my aeroponic system close to yours! you should make these to sell believe me u will make alot compared to others! thanks again!=}
hi nice video i have a problem here in my country we don't have hydroponic nutrients .i bought for my plants , food plant which is like drops to pour in water and made for soil use . i wanted to buy the products you shown in video but will they ship to Kuwait or any other help full guide for nutrients thanks
great video..nice and simple..do you not use any ec/ph meters.i thought you said never mix nutrients?..im confused..a chart i seen similar which read 1ml grow per liter 1ml bloom per liter 2ml bioheaven per liter...i thought you put them in seperate bottles?.which would make 3 bottles 1 liter each..with 3 different nutes in...am i doing it all wrong?..can i put these 3 nutes in the 1 bottle??...anyone?.ty.
@bear24rock Hi ... About your confusion regarding "mixing nutrients". What he meant was you don't mix the bloom and micro and gro directly together. That's why he started with micro in water first then added the next (boom) and finally adding a bit of (gro) at the end. Then he swirled it all together. (So no you don't need 3 different bottles.)
FYI - 1 gallon equals 3.785411 liters per gallon (US) or 4.54609 liters per gallon (UK) this is per wikipedia info.
@totalybitchn Hi.. He uses Rolaids to as an easy and convenient way to add Calcium (especially good for tomato's) to the water. What he didn't say is whether he grinds it up or just adds it whole nor did he mention amounts, but I guess amounts would depend on what you are growing. Ta.

Try a 60ml syringe you can find them at most grocery stores as marinade injectors, add a little vinyl tubing and you can get to the bottom of the containers. If you leave the tube attached measure its volume. Why is the fogger on the low side of your setup?
I'm using the amature GH recirculating program with my flood and drain table, Its a beautiful thing, my flood and drain is on a timer, 3 times a day. I only have to change my resevoir once a week, it's basically zero maintenance.

Sigh.. gotta love the NooB trash talkers.. 7 foot isnt even half the size i have seen grown indoor. sorry bud please try all forms of growing before you think your smart enough to knock one.
Macro, lol. General Hydroponics makes really low grade, heavy chemical, high salt fertlizers. There are much better brands available including Botanicare and Technaflora (good if you are on a budget) or House & Garden and Advanced Nutrients if you want to grow some top quality fruits, veggies and/or buds.
Great Information. How often do you change out your res water if at all? How many rolaids per gallon, and how often. Does the rolaids work w/ all veggies and friuts?
Thanks, I change my res depending on the growth stage but anywere rom every 1 to 3 weeks. obvioulsy in the seedling stage it just needs to be topped with water every so often.
hi, you ADD Nut into your water for nurbilizer? or mist from nurbilizer is without Nut? Because it can be problem with ceramic disk in nurbilizer and Nutrients...thx for answer.i hope that Nut and nurbilizer is without problem:)
my system feeds the nut treated water into the nurb chamber. This does speed the life up o the disc sometimes. But usually only i you are lazy and don't remember to flush the og chamber out everytime you changes your nut.
hi,i have an aerogarden that has a 3.2 liter for a resevoir,im using a 3 part solution by advanced nutrients, micro, bloom, and grow,i was wondering if i had to change the water everytime i add nutrients, and also how often should i flush? any info would be great...thank you
Some would say you should. I usually don't chnge out or add nut to many times beore plants are past seedling stage. ater that it becomes more important and deinnatly during flowering or fruiting stages. I flush aout every 3 nut changes
Aerogrow garden waters are tapped off only as needed, unless your garden "catches" a fungus or other problem. In that case you can attempt a cleanse, a pouring out of the entire reservoir and refilling with clean water and new nutrients. However, some people choose, as a preventative measure, to do a cleanse every two weeks in conjuction with the normal course of nutrient application.
Nutrients are added every two weeks. The liquid nutrients last longer than the tablets.

Tried to look at your sywire site, which didn't give me any luck. I'm wondering if anyone has looked into the chems put into these Nutrients, seeing things like Monsanto and other companies who have very questionable practices makes me weary of using any additive other than perhaps a PH balancer.
I host syWire from my home machine and I have been moving alot over the last coupla months so if it goes up and down then just check back in a few days, it will be up ;)
Great info. I have been getting my toes wet in hydroponics with the Aerogarden I got last Xmas. It works really well, making more basil than I can use. When the starter kit ran out I tried putting my own seeds in the pods (with cotton balls) and using vigoro all purpose food, and the basil worked fine, but the tomato plants would never flower although they got huge and the lettuces looked limp and yellow. Was this a nutrient problem?
Hmm typically i would say it growing tall and never flowering could be one of 2 things. Not enough light and the plant reaches or most likely you hard your light on to long. if you want plants to flower (any plant) drop the light down to 12-14 hours a day.
when adjusting the ppm level with the meter, with a two or three part nutrient should raise use equal amounts of each when adjusting the ppm levels. PPM levels does not determine the npk does it. How do you determine the npk on three part nutrients. i have ghe 3 parts but am also going to try 1 part nurients to save hassle as they are pre mixed already. WIll hydro food grown under lights taste pretty good and not be harmfull if eaten as long as i only feed on water for the last two weeks of gro
I just try and keep mine as full as possible. It easly goes through 5 gallons in 3-4 days. I can hear my pump getting louder as the water drops, but isf I want to check i have 3 inch access hole in the lid of my 5g bucket resivior
how do you know when to add nutrient into this process? And how many months can you go just adding water and nute before the nutrient locks up? thanks for all the great info, very appreciated.
i do nutrient every other 5 gallons of water i fill it with. I flush my tubes and resevior every 2-3 weeks. Never had a nut lock but i have gone a 6-8 once with out a flush still adding the Nut in every other 5gallons of water. PLEASE don't forget to rate. and don't forget to subscribe.
I use 3 timers. 1 for lights 1 for fogger and one for sprayers. The fogger is a 96 step (can control on/off every 15min) the sprayers are on a 48 step (controll on/off every 30 min) Basic store bought timers. A repeat cycling timer is next when budget allows.
thank you for putting all of this info on youtube for new aero users like myself. My question is how can you measure EC (food) levels once it is turned into the "fog"? Would it be as simple as drilling a plugable tap at the end of the system where a EC meter can just be dropped into the tap for readings or would an ec meter meter not work because the micron size of the water?
if you want to be lazy, you wouldnt be using the 3 part flora series, and would be growing with a one part general hydro products like floranova or maxi series and as a side note gerneral hydro has more products for supplements than botanicare does, and also botanicare just came out with a new series called organicare its omri listed but the problem of it is that the base is in a solid form they recomend adding an inorganic diluted 50% along with it in hydroponics systems,I have not tried it yet
Lets just say they have a product for just about everything ;). good hydro formulas but a lot of them. I tend to try and keep things simple (lazy) and just use the 3 additives. BUT if you are trying to grow spacific things that need extra nutriets like sweet fruits or tomatoes they have a seperate mixture for just about every occasion ;)
I put about a 1/2 a tab (for a 5 gallon resivour) in every other week to every week depending on how heavy the plants are fruiting. I don't use any unless plant is fruiting.
how often do I need to add all these? I am using a deep water culture in 5 gallon buckets. DO I change the water every week, two weeks, a month? I'm new at this so any help would be great! I'll also check out hhydro for chemicals.

a good way to mix the nutrients in a bucket is to use a piece of pipe long enough to reach the bottom, and blow into the top.

Well all I can tell you is this: Smoke one for me.
And don't let anyone give you shit about it. Pot is cool, pot smokers are cool. Never met one I didn't like.

Yeah nice try... I get better results with advanced nutrients, and growing OUTDOORS. Seven foot plants check my videos.
Bluntsna40 2 years ago
Sigh.. gotta love the NooB trash talkers.. 7 foot isnt even half the size i have seen grown indoor. sorry bud please try all forms of growing before you think your smart enough to knock one.

You should look at using Ionic chemicals. much better.
Dakota1Rules 2 years ago
I will definantly thanks. inally a good suggestion for everyone.
Mefoo007 2 years ago
You need to shake the chemicals before you add them to your water.
Dakota1Rules 2 years ago
Yes this is true. I hope this would be obvious but mabye its not and i might not have mentioned it.
Mefoo007 2 years ago
Macro, lol. General Hydroponics makes really low grade, heavy chemical, high salt fertlizers. There are much better brands available including Botanicare and Technaflora (good if you are on a budget) or House & Garden and Advanced Nutrients if you want to grow some top quality fruits, veggies and/or buds.

Thank goodness none of my plants seemed to mind ;)

Now topping off your shit is the tricky part. Tutorial that please. Wouldn't mind hearing your take on that. That would get you sponsored lols

topping off? not sure what you mean. I just pour it in until the res is full.
Mefoo007 2 years ago
Yeah, thats topping your res off. But, Do you add plain water at a pH of 5.8?? or with mild nutes, ect.. ??
:-)
When do you know when to fill your res and what do you do to the water you use to refill it with?
Thats what i meant. thanks.

Great Information. How often do you change out your res water if at all? How many rolaids per gallon, and how often. Does the rolaids work w/ all veggies and friuts?
spitlife75 2 years ago
Thanks, I change my res depending on the growth stage but anywere rom every 1 to 3 weeks. obvioulsy in the seedling stage it just needs to be topped with water every so often.

hi, you ADD Nut into your water for nurbilizer? or mist from nurbilizer is without Nut? Because it can be problem with ceramic disk in nurbilizer and Nutrients...thx for answer.i hope that Nut and nurbilizer is without problem:)
DEVIATIO 3 years ago
my system feeds the nut treated water into the nurb chamber. This does speed the life up o the disc sometimes. But usually only i you are lazy and don't remember to flush the og chamber out everytime you changes your nut.

hi,i have an aerogarden that has a 3.2 liter for a resevoir,im using a 3 part solution by advanced nutrients, micro, bloom, and grow,i was wondering if i had to change the water everytime i add nutrients, and also how often should i flush? any info would be great...thank you
KevinInBeantown 3 years ago
Some would say you should. I usually don't chnge out or add nut to many times beore plants are past seedling stage. ater that it becomes more important and deinnatly during flowering or fruiting stages. I flush aout every 3 nut changes
Mefoo007 3 years ago
@KevinInBeantown

Meritous 3 years ago
I host syWire from my home machine and I have been moving alot over the last coupla months so if it goes up and down then just check back in a few days, it will be up ;)

Great info. I have been getting my toes wet in hydroponics with the Aerogarden I got last Xmas. It works really well, making more basil than I can use. When the starter kit ran out I tried putting my own seeds in the pods (with cotton balls) and using vigoro all purpose food, and the basil worked fine, but the tomato plants would never flower although they got huge and the lettuces looked limp and yellow. Was this a nutrient problem?
macrumpton 3 years ago
Hmm typically i would say it growing tall and never flowering could be one of 2 things. Not enough light and the plant reaches or most likely you hard your light on to long. if you want plants to flower (any plant) drop the light down to 12-14 hours a day.
Mefoo007 3 years ago
How do you pollanate your plants?
Nice video. :)
theinsane102 2 years ago 2
when adjusting the ppm level with the meter, with a two or three part nutrient should raise use equal amounts of each when adjusting the ppm levels. PPM levels does not determine the npk does it. How do you determine the npk on three part nutrients. i have ghe 3 parts but am also going to try 1 part nurients to save hassle as they are pre mixed already. WIll hydro food grown under lights taste pretty good and not be harmfull if eaten as long as i only feed on water for the last two weeks of gro
fayik123 3 years ago
How much water do you add and how do you know when you need to add more? How often do you need to completely change out the nutrient?
freerangechicken26 3 years ago
I just try and keep mine as full as possible. It easly goes through 5 gallons in 3-4 days. I can hear my pump getting louder as the water drops, but isf I want to check i have 3 inch access hole in the lid of my 5g bucket resivior
Mefoo007 3 years ago
how do you know when to add nutrient into this process? And how many months can you go just adding water and nute before the nutrient locks up? thanks for all the great info, very appreciated.
freerangechicken26 3 years ago
i do nutrient every other 5 gallons of water i fill it with. I flush my tubes and resevior every 2-3 weeks. Never had a nut lock but i have gone a 6-8 once with out a flush still adding the Nut in every other 5gallons of water. PLEASE don't forget to rate. and don't forget to subscribe.
Mefoo007 3 years ago
Do you just flush it with water and leave the plants in?
freerangechicken26 3 years ago
Yes.. I flush with about 2 gallons.. don't use tap water EVER it has to much floride.
Mefoo007 3 years ago
Does floride actually kill off the plant? What kind of filter system do you use? ok that's my last question, thanks again.
freerangechicken26 3 years ago
what timer do u use for your watering
tasha2sexi4u 3 years ago
I use 3 timers. 1 for lights 1 for fogger and one for sprayers. The fogger is a 96 step (can control on/off every 15min) the sprayers are on a 48 step (controll on/off every 30 min) Basic store bought timers. A repeat cycling timer is next when budget allows.
Mefoo007 3 years ago
thank you for putting all of this info on youtube for new aero users like myself. My question is how can you measure EC (food) levels once it is turned into the "fog"? Would it be as simple as drilling a plugable tap at the end of the system where a EC meter can just be dropped into the tap for readings or would an ec meter meter not work because the micron size of the water?

if you want to be lazy, you wouldnt be using the 3 part flora series, and would be growing with a one part general hydro products like floranova or maxi series and as a side note gerneral hydro has more products for supplements than botanicare does, and also botanicare just came out with a new series called organicare its omri listed but the problem of it is that the base is in a solid form they recomend adding an inorganic diluted 50% along with it in hydroponics systems,I have not tried it yet
readallen 3 years ago
what your opinion on botanicare products
readallen 3 years ago
Lets just say they have a product for just about everything ;). good hydro formulas but a lot of them. I tend to try and keep things simple (lazy) and just use the 3 additives. BUT if you are trying to grow spacific things that need extra nutriets like sweet fruits or tomatoes they have a seperate mixture for just about every occasion ;)
Mefoo007 3 years ago
what do u use for a ph down and is it safe to use diluted battery acid
tasha2sexi4u 3 years ago
BioBizz makes a great product also, no doubt!
Mefoo007 3 years ago
Great video! You mentioned about adding extra calcium, how many of those do you pop in per tomato plant and when?
trumpet12345 3 years ago
I put about a 1/2 a tab (for a 5 gallon resivour) in every other week to every week depending on how heavy the plants are fruiting. I don't use any unless plant is fruiting.
Mefoo007 3 years ago
Excellent videos..i´m using Biobizzz for my aeroponic system and works great and ....it´s biological
