  • how long did the cams last

  • minus the heat obviously i bet the vibrations of the sprink would be cool to feel at that speed :D

  • Its astonishing to think this is all going on inside a lump of metal, right between your legs, its like sitting on a hand grenade!

  • I was nervous for my own life just watching that....

  • This was AWESOME! I think everyone who revs the #@%& out of their engines should watch this to see what they go through. Thanks heaps

  • see if we all went to 2 strokes we would never worry about our cam failing and could rev right by the 14200 redline point :p

  • I wouldn't have been surprised if a black hole appeared. that was insane. Do BMW use pneumatic valve springs to combat valve float? Or some other method. There's no way traditional valve/rocker/spring tech can cope with that high of RPM. I'm curious.

  • ITS OVER 9000!!!!!

  • The springs rotating means its not good right?

  • @netmatrix75 because of the way a spring is made it is going to spin as it goes up and down. shocks and forks are this way too. youll notice they put a bearing at the top of shock to help with the rotational force it exurts (spelling) so to answer your question no its not bad its what its supposed to do.

  • @RacerDude78 does the valves spins as well?? i was told before, but ain't sure about the statements credibility. thanks

  • @revmesh Yes the valves spin as well. totally normal. im pretty sure there is a video somewhere of this same motor but looking at the combustion chamber so you can see the valves slamming into the seat 14500 times a minute. pretty awesome! but they put a red line on em so you can see it spin

  • @RacerDude78 thanks a lot for the info dude. i saw in another video of the combustion in slow motion. but aint too sure if its the same motor. if u can, please give me the links for the 14krpm combustion..

  • Why waste tyres when you can do a Cam burnout

  • 2-stroke engines are better :o)

  • uber cool

  • Damn! I was afraid my monitor was gonna blow up in my face.

  • @nosajsmas hahaha me too i was flinching back

  • thats the most amazeing thing I seen in a long time

  • I will never take my valve springs for granted ever again

  • the only thing I can say is WOW!!

  • would be nice to have had a little pop up saying what revs where where.

  • BOOOOM!

  • So 14200:60=236,66 =>237:2=118,3 rps (s for second)

Correct because a 4 stroke has 2 cycles of crank to complete a period. As a result, cam's have half ratio of crank speed _1:0,5_

  • @ej20daZe or 2:1 :P

  • This video scares me idk why? :S

  • cams wear out, right?

  • @suprahmed everything wears out.

  • How did that motor not just disappear?!

  • If it looks like they are not moving does that mean you can stick your finger in there??

  • The Vtec kicked in YO!!

  • @midgetmayo be my guest

  • Hahaha @ stephen8899

    Super trooper reference ftw

  • Mother of God...

  • that is sooo bad ass. what a great video. never seen anything like this before. very very cool. sounds sooo good too. awesome.

  • Very cool to see inside! Thanks!

  • OMG!! STOP IT.!!! it's bleeding.

Thumbs up if u see it.

  • I FEEL BAD NOW REVVING MY ENGINE!!! LoL

  • Hopefully this makes people realise how important those springs are :P

  • Wow. Just WOW!

  • this is a fucking stargate

  • Can't here the amazing sound, but it is an amazing sight

  • Press 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, Have fun. You can fell like organist ! :D

  • weeeeeeeeee!

  • Look at the valve spring float at high RPM. Not good. Awesome video tho

  • Isnt the cam actualy only turning at 7200? It is a 4 stroke engine isnt it?

  • @justanotheroldperv hence in his description "A cam and valvetrain at 118 cycles per second is an amazing sight (and sound)" 118 x 60 = 7080 RPM

  • @jezwah and a camshaft rotates at half the speed of a crankshaft, therefore = 14180 rpm

  • @bears0man54 14160*

  • valves getting bitch slapped

  • VTEC just kicked in yo!

  • I HAVE LOOKED 4 VID LIKE THAT FOR 5 YEARS

  • Explains why my bike sounds like that

  • stick your finger in there

  • Dude your engines bleeding :O

  • IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I think the comments about the cbr250 are valid but the irony is, 250s aint making no f'n power. this is 193bhp. Let it soak.

  • how can the cams take that abuse

  • @Thakiid101

Because it's a tiny, lightweight engine with very little reciprocating mass and inertia (titanium parts). It's much more like F1 engines of yore than any production street car engine. It makes 193bhp @ 13,000rpm.

  • @Pube83 rhetorical question sry.. but thanks for the response for people that don't know that... it justt seems hard to believe that any material can put up with that for extended periods you know? my kawasaki runs up that high but i dont believe theres any titanium in the cam..i could be wrong..whatever it is ...it works!

  • Excellent video. Thanks

  • Dare ya to stick ur fingers in there. =D

  • @memadmax69 dare you to stick your dick in there...

  • @memadmax69 That's what she said.

  • @memadmax69 my fingers would disappear

  • Can someone show me a desmodromic valve system doing this? If any of you are willing to cut a rocker cover in half on your ducati lol. Seriously though, that would be an awesome video.

  • That's awesome. Thanks for the vid!

  • Dont even look like their moving going that fast

  • Motors really are an incredible piece of work.

  • I want to see it in slow motion :)

  • fuck the valves... i want to see the piston moving that fast

  • @BAMITsJACOB There are a few websites on the internet that can make your right hand move that fast :-)

  • @BAMITsJACOB the pistion would look like this, where it looks like its not even moving haha.

  • get the marsmellows

  • Great, now stick your hand in there

  • Superbike engines are baby F1 motors in many ways.. Notice slight rotation of valve spring..

  • The real heroes of this video are the valve springs. I've heard of valves that float off the cam because the spring couldn't rebound fast enough or the valves were too heavy for the spring.

  • @gmax876 , titanium is good..

  • damn

  • the oil was burning...

  • now lets see a crap box push rod engine turn that fast

  • @wapitiman100 , We built NA Chevy small blocks in the 80s that revved just over 10k rpm.. Roller cam and lots of valve train tidbits, girdles and rollers ..Methanol and 14/1 compression too. 327+ cid..

  • ..is the valve spring supposed to rotate? lol

  • @xanderrr521 yes, it is. valves, too.

  • gonna need to be relubed now ...

  • if only you could get blow jobs at that speed !

  • Stick your tongue in that shit!!

  • I thought shit was gonna hit the fan

  • Typical 4 stroke JUNK, a 2 stroke can sustain HIGH-RPM's unlike a 4 stroke.

The motor is COOKED, 2 strokes can rev to 20,000 RPM's and not melt down.

4 strokes = Ticking time bombs

  • @merkal90000

Yeah and 4 stroke is 10 times cleaner and more efficient. Burning oil is never good. a DIRECT INJECTION 2 stroke might slightly be more efficient but still burning oil. But a 2 stroke will pop WAY before a 4 stroke will. If it was so perfect why isn't it in every car out there? Its ok ill wait mr I think Rotaries are the best engine ever made.

  • @merkal90000 Not sure if troll or just stupid....

  • @merkal90000 are you high bro? 2 strokes have their applications but if you were right then Formula 1 would be running 2 strokes

  • @merkal90000 haha you tool ive owner many 2 stroke and 4 stroke mx bikes they are both reliable if maintained correctly

  • Next step is to get the engine orbiting earth at 65 000 mph. Oh, it already is.

  • The valves are still going, just too fast for the camera

  • Imagine f1 car = 20k rpm

  • i love how the springs turn...

  • My 1992 CBR250RR will do 20,000RPM, with tiny little valves and four pistons like sewing bobbins, i'd love to see what that looks like full noise.

  • touch it hold it lick it :D

  • 1:47 the motherfucking valve is motherfucking bleeding !!!

  • Valve float like a mother fucker. lol.

  • BURNOUT

  • 1:27 They weren't going anywhere. :)

  • Jesus Christ! O-O

  • The camshafts spin at half the crankshaft RPM. I see you got that right. :)

  • I think it's cuming.

  • is that sperm shooting out?

  • wonder what would happend if i stuck my girlfriends finger in there?

  • Heh, it sounds like a desiel

  • what does the 14k mean

  • @300Dnikon 14000

  • I would like to see a CBR250's Cams now, 19k RPM!

  • very cool !!!!

  • that is crazy shit

  • -Apparently is a test being conducted by BMW-engineers, using an electric-driven valve-train; --very impressive indeed to see each camshaft turning at 7,100-rpm,.!!!

  • valve floating!

  • Comment removed

  • is that the oil smoking or condensation from the heat.

  • Thats 59 explosions in 1 second! 1!

  • @eddohan Nah, it's exactly double that! 14,200 rpm = 236.666 crank revs per sec = 118.333 cam revs (or explosions) per sec. Dang!

  • @Circlotron

hmm I was thinking 4 stroke=4 turns of crank, but no its 4 piston movements. Even more impressive!

  • dude this is freakin awsome haha, so many rpms, lol

  • Sounds like my girfriends vibrator so now i know why she loves it so much

  • @MongooseFreeRider she needs a vibrator because you are watching videos like this

  • It sounds to me like the exhaust valve is 0.0003 in slack, it needs a shim.....

  • Put you`r finger on it!

  • 999 569 569 888 769 569

  • but... wil it blend?

  • Excellent vid, thanks. What oil were you using?

  • Comment removed

  • I dare you lol

  • I love how as it gets faster it goes slow motion then it reverses then it just looks like the springs are spinning in their place. Impressive mechanics surround us everyday and most don't stop to appreciate it.

  • Sweet.....I want to lick it :)

  • bounce bounce bounce, SPIIIIIIIIIIIN ! lol

  • How the hell those valves can go that fast.... How the... spring... le fuuuuu

  • i couldn´t stop watching :-)

  • the magnitude of these revolutions has blown my cranium

  • i don't understand how physics and nature can let this be possible...

  • @Shvenkey Imagine a F1 valvetrain!

  • So tempted to touch it.

  • You should ughhh stick your finger in there.

  • What I want to know is, who is the manufacturer of those valve springs?? bmw?

  • 786 8777 888 777 786 8777 788 786....

    Baaaaaaaah

  • @akosimiggy dude tats mind bogling lol

  • they spinnin nigga they spinnin

  • This is way into its redline. Was it complete with all the pistons conrods crankshaft everything? Makes me wondering...

  • i love how the springs start rotating. hahaha

  • and you would think 'How the heck does this still intake proper fuel/air mixtures?

  • Nice video!

  • 2 greenpeace guys disliked this!

  • TOUCH IT !!!!

  • I wouldn't put my tongue in there!

  • wow notice the springs slowly rotate around 1:37

  • THE VALVES ARE BLEEDING LOL.

  • Watching this really make you think about an engine, its pretty impressive shit when you think about it. Even the oil been able to handle this for hours on end is a feat of engineering.

  • its only moving at 7,100rpm as 4cycle valve train components only move 1/2 the speed of crankshaft speed(indicated engine rpm)

  • @theblackmech daaa

  • @theblackmech ONLY 7100 rpm. Yeah...That's nothing.

  • put your finger in it

  • It's amazing the valve springs can snap the valve shut at that rate.

  • I DARE YOU TO STICK YOU FINGER IN THERE!

  • engine porn

  • bad a

  • anyone else start pressing numbers seeing what song they could create lol

  • @jrfan07 yes. hahaha

  • OMG 2:20 I thought it will explode :DD

  • all i see are the springs rotating in there seats and 2 cylinder circles... lol

  • So if the piston is moving at 14,200 RPM the cams are only moving at about 7,100 RPM. Misleading video title. :D

  • @XHyperxNovaX rpm is not piston its is cam speed

  • @came5201 Wrong again. It's crank speed. It's how many times the crank rotates per minute.

  • @came5201 No you imbecile. The cam will rotate once every 2 RPM. A camshaft rotates 360º every time the crank rotates 720º... Do you know ho an engine runs? 4 strokes = 720º of the crank...

  • @bdover290 Two stroker advantages are it's dimensions and simplicity. Two strokers usually don't even have valves, just a free flow intake and exhaust. And they use mixtured oil which allows lack of sump

  • @5ky5tr1d3r two strokers are hindered by valving ie// piston port and or reeds and or rotary as well as tuning the flame front.

  • this is why i use synthetic in everything i have

  • I think it just went plaid

  • thats bloody quick!! cant even tell if its moving @ 2:15
