  • Interesting concept. Web 2.0 did revolutionize the internet. I am sure that the internet hasn't peaked yet though. Web 2.0 is just the beginning.

  • zzzzzzzz!

  • yawn la de daa pile of crap buy people 'who think they know it all'.

  • cool

  • This was posted 4 years ago and it's time for an update

  • and you dare to be a video answer to "the machine is using us"?. Booorrring.

  • web 2.0 doesn't exist

    also, digg sucks

  • Thanks for the nice video , Also If educators want to learn about web 2.0 tools online and try to do things in real time then eZdia is best for you. I had learned the some great web2.0 tools from the experts online and how to use them

  • thanks, that is good work on the background of web 2.0

  • Nice Explanation. I think this video is for more than just educators. It's good for entrepreneurs as well. Anybody interested in starting their own social network should be savvy.

  • I thought Microsoft Invented Web. 2.0 under the guidance of Al Gore?

  • This is one of the most boring websites that I have ever seen. I had to watch it for school. I didn't learn a thing. A stunning example of technobabble. Pure torture to watch!

  • My god... one of my first college assignments is to create an A4 presentation on this - but I haven't got the faintest idea what it is. I got lost after the first word...

  • This guy is great! lol. Kinda boring though.

All I know is when I needed good design I went to designme . ws . Fast same day service.

    What about web 2.5? :P

  • web 2.0 is a load of plop

  • More like a load of php!

    ZIIIIING! :D

  • text

  • This was very informational - its much like what FabriQate does in the UK. They seem to be actively involved in this space working on a lot of new technologies. Has anyone worked with them?

  • The video is professional and informative and well organized. It promises the new user a new horizon to get into knowlege in a very intersting way.

  • 5:18 to say what anybody with half a brain already knew: "web 2.0" is a meaningless buzz word. This one is particularly painful in its idiocy on so many levels it makes my head spin. Amusing, though.

  • As a novice in the uses of 2.0 it helped me start to understand what it incompases. I am still a little foggy as to how I might be able to adapt its uses to my reaching but am open to learning more.

  • fail tube is fail

    moar interbutts

    hack the planet,

    etc

    POWER TO ANON!

  • Awesome video! You truly are a leader. The content you provide, are the same great techniques that have caused me to achieve massive success, all through free marketing. Keep up the good work, and look forward to future videos...

  • i enjoyed the over view and flow of developments put together in easy to understand commentary...great oration and voice...well done ..thanks ..

  • Very interesting -- I enjoy seeing new technology and hearing how it will change the world (and teaching.)

  • Hola

  • Cheap speech

  • depacco(dot)com / pages / index(dot)php?refid=v1llu

  • OH MY GOD THAT VIDEO IS AMAZING!

  • so it's this big deal sort of thing, that's only based on a phrase that was brough up in a brainstorming session? geez, i can't wait.

  • This video is bullshit....

Web 2.0 is just a term used by the non-programmer who try to identify what the programmer can do.

But If you're a programmer, you will know...

theres no limit or any boundary to cap your website development potential.

(Eg you can even call yours web 4.0 or web 1337)

  • Spoken like a true programmer. It's not about the technology or the cap on it; Web 2.0 describes how people mash technolgoy together to make it work in their world.

  • Good assessment.

For a programmer who actually needs to eat and prefers a roof under which to live, the definition is easy: "The shit that clients are prepared to pay for at this point in time."

    :)

  • my webmaster skills are "web double whammy 4.9 version 3 ... XXL" lol!

  • The price of freedom is vigilance. Beware the slow creep of control.

  • pograming languages is what makes web pages interactive illustrated or what ever they are today, web 2 is a technology that corporations and profit want to market and is full manipulation of the net.the freedom in the net exists so why to look elsewhere?take some time and think or even beter learn what web 2 is about. The corporations found a better way to market web 2 than the first atempt that was to stop anonymity and file sharing or the possibility that every one of us can post a page.

  • this is uncommonly good nonsense

  • ... was it absolutely necessary to finish this in one take, or do you always stumble over words that much?

  • excellent intro to web 2.0. it would be even better without the lame "dum dum dum" music in the background.

  • The internet was for communication and transfer of information.

2.0 aims to eliminate that aspect and replace it with 'business models'.

Corporation over information is what Web 2.0 is about. Beware. This is not a good thing.

Watch alternate videos to this propaganda piece.

  • too bad everything is going to hell because of the lack of net neutrality.

  • what web 2.0? web 2.0 is fake!

  • you are fake.

  • and you're a snit

  • web 2.0 about the facility, and its all about us (peaple), users and how to bring what you

want inside network with out administrator.

    web 2.0 = power + peaple + space + tools + adeaptive = full suscess result.

  • yeah, too bad in your case scenario, you have to go back to the elementary school, Mr. "Peaple"...

  • And you'll bet that there are companies using the information for their benefit and against us. The more information can be structured and associated, the more in-depth information will be at hand for people exploiting it. You just all believe greatly in information technologies without even thinking of the fact, that the personal information you give away for free is actually worth a lot of money.

  • right. i guess that's why a 46-year-old African-American is the leading candidate for President of the U.S. Yup, those fascist authorities you refer to are really tightening their grip on our powers and our freedom of expression. lol

  • Need some idea on that. Pl educate!

  • Web2.0 means nothing. The Web is a collection of HTML websites. Web is not a technology. HTML, for example is, so it can be upgraded. The web cannot.

  • Please go to study please!!!!!!You the one is correct about Web 2.0 and one world is wrong about web 2.0.LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Funny!!!!!!

  • Great video. Thank you very much!

  • Web 2.0 is simply the parts of the web that are interactive with its users instead of the parts of the web that simply allow users to read a published page. Web 2.0 allows users to interactive, edit, and even create their own content. For example, YouTube is part of Web 2.0.

  • thanks!

  • thanks! i've got an exam on that!!

  • @larahharrison thanks, now I know what it means :-)

  • @larahharrison as facebook and my space?

but i think if you want to earn money on Web2.0 you have to risk a lot?

  • So, is he saying that programming technology has evolved naturally by way of invention or perhaps it is driven by commerce?

  • web 2.0 means nothing. when you take away peoples internet they will revolt, surround you on all sides and kill you.

  • Sounds like an Internet Comunism. Perfect utopia and bad future. Some guy is waking up with something he believs it's a new ideea. Well, think again! We love the internet the way it is, Mr Clever !

  • Your so right...

  • salak

  • Thanks for the information..5+

  • ROLO dot COM dot BR

  • If it's still HTML (15-year old stuff) and Javascript (12-year old stuff), it will never fly.

Microsoft, Adobe and Java people are pushing out SilverLight, Flex and JavaFX. Those things are more a like a good start for Web 2.0

  • Its all AJAX. nothing else.

  • exactly

  • that explained something i didnt understand

  • un video perfetto per comprendere le logiche del web 2.0

  • Well I'm a Computer Science graduated and Web2.0 means nothing to technicians. It's a marketing stuff, not technological improvement (at most it's an application improvement).

BUT. The Semantic Web (which is depicted by the annotated graph) is indeed a new technology. But nobody of you ever saw it presubably. Nor market people did!

So Web2.0 is a buzz word but it's among us.

Semantic Web is what Tim Berners Lee envisioned, it's the next Web, but it's still far from arriving.

  • I suppose. Language structure has improves since it's comeuppance though.

  • huh?

  • You said "nobody of you;" you must mean "none of you." Just thought I'd let you know

  • You said "nobody of you;" you must mean "none of you." Just thought I'd let you know

  • that's exatly what i said.

  • it is a bit long in the tooth...

  • The narrator couldn't get any more boring. It's like a one-time try at narrating, he made a few errors and seemed like he couldn't bother to do them again.

On the positive, at least I learned something here which could be of help in my report.

  • I wish pendantic was a word, but it's not.

  • Actually, it is. It means "picky". fool.

  • That would be pedantic, fool, not pendantic.

I know how to operate a dictionary.

  • Sorry, my mistake! I misread the post :(

  • What does sematic mean?.. haha lol.

  • Are you being serious or are you being funny?

  • Have a guess?

  • I have the same problem. In fact I'm a bit in a hurry, I heard Web 3.0 already appeared.

  • I <3 web 2.0

    I'm 2.0

  • video quality is shitty

  • This is great knowledge, but the music is distracting. It should be lowered so as not to override the speaker's voice.

  • Web 2.0 is a marketing term for a new dotcom bubble that dosen't do anything new.

It's meaningless for someone in IT.

Web forums and free personal web pages have been around since the Web was born, it has always been a medium where everyone could contribute - what this is about is how marketing companies want to make their clients perceive the Web.

  • Web 2.0 is a marketing term but not only a marketing term. In the Web 1.0 era, you don't even think about doing sites like Digg or Geni, they simple weren't made , and why cause the tecnology involved was focus on gathering all the Information spread all over the place, in organizations, in peoples home etc, and put it online. That's Web 1.0 Era , put everything online, You, Me, Companies everything.

  • Web 2.0 is not only a new step in technology and it's not seen in foruns or free personal web pages, it's seen in iGoogle Page where the layout changes dinamically acording to the time of day of where you are, or if you not impressed yet, it's on most Google Web Apps, or every type of social software, it's Dinamic Transparent Collaboration.

  • Well done.

  • bad or good, Web 2.0 is a must! :)

  • "My main problem with web 2.0 is that it allows ANYONE to post stuff. Which is it's biggest problem really. You end up with every jackass out there blogging."

why shouldnt they, the internet is a resource for everyone alike, communication and connectivity allows us to grow as a society

no point having it as some kind of elite in the know, it wouldnt grow

  • The Web 2.0 is a social newtork. So the rules of society should hold true.

  • What are the rules of society? I think 2.0 will do wonderfully...the possibilities are endless :)

  • Call me a misanthropist, but there are just some people who shouldn't be allowed to add "content" to the internet. :P

  • Lets hope web 3.0 will be better

  • My main problem with web 2.0 is that it allows ANYONE to post stuff. Which is it's biggest problem really. You end up with every jackass out there blogging.

  • Nicely done.

  • It will all be bought out by commercial interests, so who cares?

  • This explains very nicely, technologies and terms that have been long confused.

  • The guy should work on sounding more excited!

  • wow this must really scare the elite ruling class of the world. For they are fast working on the "Internet 2" that will more resemble the television than it will the internet we know today, controlled and regulated by a handful of powerfully corrupt people.

  • what is our purpose.....?

  • why should we have a purpose.....?

  • life purpose is not end but stay exist by reproduction.

  • very cool and informative.

  • how can i delete my second comment.. i posted it by mistake.... shit....

  • very cool video, very well made. especially the music, cool music too...

  • hahahaha music in the background is freaking awesome

  • PS Web 2.0= over-hyped rubbish hailed as the second coming by some, but boils down to little more than 16-year old girls complaining about their boyfriends on youtube.

  • True as that may be (and sometimes those vids are fun), being negative about web 2.0 isnt going to help strengthen the maturity of the information age.

  • Did you just read this verbatim from the wikipedia page? Your voice is as boring as the article itself. Shape up!

  • lol

  • anyone have any no-doze?

  • There is NO consensus on what Web 2.0 means because there Web 2.0 does NOT EXIST. It is purely MARKETING RHETORIC.

  • I thought Web 2.0 is an upgrade for the internet.

  • Kinda sorta. It's like an upgrade on the new possibilities with the internet, and most of all, user contribution.

If you're talking more about a software upgrade, the internet has already been upgraded with the introductions of XML, Flash, JavaScript, etc.

  • Oh crud, I frogot to hit the reply button on that comment. Whatever.

  • Of academic/historic interest, but way too dry and droll and poor script reading. You lost me when you started describing Web 2 as "sematic" (sic) more than once. As for "so called web designers", what exactly are you trying to say?

  • @openuniverse2003 - P2P is an internet technology like chat, FTP or newsgroups, not a web (ie. browser-based) technology.

  • P2P isn't mentioned? Why not? Isn't P2P THE dominant use of the Internet? Downloading music and movies = 75% of the data streaming through the fibrox cables. In understand the main point of this vid clip, but P2P can't be ignored. The web is really turning into everyone's communal library of knowledge.

  • well the thing about web 2.0 is that it is a lot more about user contribution. sure, p2p filesharing is about user contribution too. But I believe the focus in web 2.0 lies in the user generated content. Movies, music, tv series are all things produced. Blogs, pictures, comments rely on user contribution, thus making the user a contributor instead of a consumer.

  • can't we just jump to Web3.0? I'd rather have reliable standards implementation and use than interactivity; most of which relies of javascript - something you can't actually rely on being available.

  • viral marketing... yeah!

  • Boring! He sounds soooo unexcited - try this one: watch?v=NLlGopyXT_g (copy this and paste it after the dot com in the adress bar above)

  • it s good video but I sure dont like the music :P ^^

  • this is shit and i think that youtube could explain the motive of bush governement

  • can u send me the codec that u used in this video ? ;-|

ps - have you heard about snagit ?
