The reason for somewhat more women than men singing in the choir is that these singers are volunteers, singing for the thrill of being on-stage at a big concert, and this seems a bit more interesting to women than to men in Sweden.

Magnifique prestation des choristes ,  des musiciens et du chef d'orchestre .

Il n'y a pas assez de choristes. Cette oeuvre prend tout son sens lorsque le choeur a un effectif de 22,469 chanteurs. Voilà tout de même une version de chambre bien sentie. J'ai eu la chance (ou le bonheur) d'être parmi le choeur de répétition (pas le concert). Je dois dire que la climatisation n'avait pas à rougir. Mesures 163-199 léger tremblant des cordes. Les voix s'élancent vers le ciel ou le 2' balcon, c'est une question de point de vue. Le chef d'orchestre avait le sens du dos.

Holy shit - splendid performance. First of all, hats off for the tempo. This is how it should be played. And to get the chorus AND the orchestra to such a high level of precision ... thats a great achievement from the conductor. Second, the solo trumpets were really great. Not a single tone off - excellent performance. And then to read that this has been performed by amateurs ... again: HATS OFF!

Pale and genteel. I would have liked to hear a Russian choir of the same size show us what this glorius music really sounds like.

First of all I have to admit my sound recording in the first place does not do this choir justice. Live it was a splendid.

On top of that the data compression used by YouTube is particularly harsh on really complex sounds, such as a chior.

Thirdly, almost all of the singers in this chior are enthusiasts singing for the fun of it, rather than professional artists, so a Russian professional chior _should_ sound better. (And yes, I too am impressed with the Red Army Chior).

The orchestral sound is much more compex than the choir sound - by the way.

I think it doesn´t do the music justice to perform this peace with such an oversized choir. Sorry - this is more like a show act.

@DavidLundSweden The slavic langiages use entire different alveolars. They cannot sound the same. It is like a Strings concerto versus a Drum and Bass.
