No disrespect to you Americans or nothing but don`t you`s think you should be worried more about mother nature than terrorists, you seem to get it in everyway specially with them tornado`s recently. I really feel for you`s love your country
an the people are great but DAM when the worlds motha calls it`s not the best place to be. Wicked video by the way !
lol, I live in Florida and I remember my window kept flashing with light and I couldn't sleep for days. So I looked outside and somewhere in the distance, prolly in another city, lightning shooting as like your video without the time lapses was happening. It was quite pretty actually.
the closest encounter with lightning that happened to me was when i was in my room watching TV while it was raining and for some reason i looked out the large window that i have in my room and at that moment a huge lightning bolt hit a tree three feet away and its scared the crap out of me and the good thing is that the bolt for some reason did not travel and sped out and shock me .this happened in Pasco FL.
I know what kind of storms you get there in Tampa, Dan. When I was 16, my parents, sister and I were traveling through downtown Tampa on our way to Sanibel Island when a violent thunderstorm opened up on us. So much lightning that the thunder never paused!
A huge bolt of lightning struck a transformer on a pole right in front of us. It exploded and a ball of plasma came rolling up the street towards us. Only time in my life I've ever seen ball lightning. I'm 58 now and still remember it!
Thank you for the cool story. That sounds amazing. I would love to see ball lightning. Not up close though. The day I posted this video, a life long friend of the family was struck by lightning while inside a structure at a flea market and died. Thought it was a weird coincident. Really sad too:-(
I saw an article about an experiment using a flash steam boiler powered by lightning strikes. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw the article on the web.
That is an interesting concept. Just think if someone figured out a way to suck it into the grid every time it got hit by lightning. Central Florida would have Green Fuel for a few hours every time there was a storm.
maybe the instant heat from a single huge electrical spike could be used to liquify a vat of salt - and that heat can then be slowly run through a Stirling or Steam engine for hours worth of electricity.
:-) I actually have 2 ideas. Fulgurite production. Was thinking of using a tree protection system. Insulated 70' 1/2" cable to a the ground. But in between have a 5' x 5' cube of dry sand with a thin copper wire completing the ground. Because of the high voltage, it should work. Also the sand box would have wire fencing to prevent ground scatter since we would be within 150' of the strike.
I would Love to see lightning like that

All that untapped energy, can I hear a GREENPOWERSCIENCE project approaching or was that just the thunder ?
