I recall a chick tried to sing this song on Showtime At The Apollo, she didn't make it past the first verse, the audience yelled "You time is up!" The sandman got her butt up off the stage!
These girl's were DOPE!!! and they were FINE ASS FUNK!!!! This kind of music was the SH#T!!! None of the garbage like today's music, cash, hos and bling nonsense. Artists back then had voices and producers had talent....DAMN I miss the 90's. ;-)
I like how she roll her body at 1:25.This brings back memories. What happened to our r&b music?I was in college when this came out and this jammed at the club on the weekends. We used to have alot of fun back in the days.Keep them memories alive!!!!
Tonya looks like Maya in this vid lol.....but you can't find groups like this anymore the era of girl groups where each member could SANG died out in the 90's
There was a show on Fox in the 90's called New York Undercover, where the played a lot of 90's Urban (Golden Age) hip hop music like this. It's being rerun on TVOne for people who have Comcast every night at 10. I really miss Arsenio Hall too.
As I mentioned before one of the former members personal profession is a interior decorator and designer, but how she is doing now epescially in this current economic conditions?.
I truely loved JADE. They had voices, talent and songs. They also had great natural beauty. I would love to see them in concert again. If they ever decided to re unite
1994 was the best year for both hip-hop AND R&B! Now, I'm so jaded with both genres, all I listen to is old school jazz and blues. In R&B, it's no longer about talent, but stage presence and crossover appeal; in hip-hop, it's no longer about the TRUE essence of the urban culture that created it, but the exploitability of gimmicky styles by corporate America, who then packages and feeds that shit to clueless suburbanites; thus, fueling their laughable misconceptions about inner city life.
The funny thing is back in the day Groups like Jade and Escape would be the Bomb(90's term) now. But you gotta remember competion was too stiff. They had to compete with groups like, TLC, Envouge, SWV. I mean radio couldn't handle Jade, Eternal, Kut Klose, Shades, Black Girl, The Good Girlz, Nutin Nyce, etc. They all had hits and if you listen to each one's cds now you would purchase then B4 any of this current crap.
@artis104 ....I usually dont like to get into the nostalgia fueled, my era was better than the current era shit, but this is real talk. There is no comparison between the current state of R n b and today's music....Ur right, Jade was a tight group, but with all the great groups out at the time they didnt really stand out. There were mad female groups droppin crazy heat.
Where are they now? I missTotal,Zhane,Jade and the list goes on and on. The late 80's and early to mid 90's had some of the best music. I miss those days. Sighs...
this is hott...i miss jade...and tha 90's man...every decade seems to be so different lol...weird!...i experience the 80s, 90s, 00's now upon us the...10s and i'm almost 30 d**n near lol...i don't care what no one says, but the 90s was the best era of my lifetime by far!...very dramatic lol i must say!!!...
they were the best of the best in 92 and 93, remember dem on 90210 yo, this is the shizzle, mary j. blige, swv, tlc, jodeci, escape, en voge, shanice i think why they faded away in my books its hard to reinvent yourself, they were one of the hottest things since sliced bread, and when they were a big hit, its so hard to benchmark yourself, rip left eye.
@MrJpswagz ;,you right ,i feel the same, sometime i tryed to listen some new rnb (electro) track but nothing happening ,no vibe for me ,it's different ,but this is my choice i prefere old school sound ,it smell soul, funk ... hope you check my blog ;-)
@MrJpswagz dis was the best music of our times, jade, swv, mary j. blige, mariah carey, jodeci, bbd, boyz ii men, en vogue, mokkenstef, tony-toni-tone, the aforementioned raised the bar so high, its almost impossible to benchmark.
They had some good tunes, Jade. I like this one more than 'Don't Walk Away'. I would have done anything to have a belly like their's too, when I was a kid. I remember seeing them play a live radio roadshow in 1993, Crystal Palace London. Good musical times. Sad to hear that rumour has it they split because of poor personal relations.
this lead off single from their 2nd effort Mind Body and Song did not get the recognition it deserved cos this joint was TIGHT!!!! always loved Jade...Tonya was always my fav (light skinned chika)
