From Dust is more like Sim City than Populous. The objective is to populate the islands and try to prevent their destruction from natural disasters, which is exactly what you do in Sim City. The difference is, in From Dust, the focus is on manipulating the elements and nature to accomplish that. It's very simple in principle but the way the elements interact can be pretty complex. Definitely try it if you like Sim City.

It's a crime that this GREAT game is gone (they never advanced the series because they company was bought out) and we're stuck with these shitty terrible online games like "Evony" (anyone reading this, DO NOT ever-ever play Evony. Terrible online game...and they'll rip you off too. It isn't "free").

I still own Populous the Beginning and I would play it over and over and over. No matter how many times you beat it, it always remained a fun game.

You can find a torrent on it somewhere. I also have a damaged disc (so it's not actually pirating if you have the disc). I can really recommend it, it's good fun, and remember F11 and type byrne to activate cheats :P
