You could find the MC-909 on Ebay for less than a grand. The set up I have is the MC-909, SP-555 and the Boss 1600 create some good samples and crush skulls.
I can't picture anybody getting down to this, with the acception of a really akward revenge of the nerds style robot dance. Good effort :) Maybe put a little swing shuffle up in there.
They say the difference between dance and electronica is that dance is for dancing to and electronica is for listening. This is pretty good for just an impromptu jam session, that's why it's fun... just start up your gear and have at it, see what comes out.
