interesting how heston's character blames humans, i guess, for their own extinction...
so where's the 2nd coming and all that jizz? guess it never happens, and charlie's just fine with all that? the end, LOL, was probably rooted in some gun control law... he he.
I always thought this was one of the most dramatic scenes ever made in a movie. Short, but powerful. Heston's genius was his ability to lend credibility to film plots that might otherwise have been ridiculous. Here he plays a man in a future earth run by apes and it plays very well. Doesn't come across as silly or stupid. I can't say the same for the remake.
Cornelius will explain everything : Manhattan was a paradise...your kind turned it into a wasteland. "Fear the beast man. Lo, let him not breed in great numbers - for he will make a desert of his home...and yours".
I think of that last line and this scene when I'm REALLY mad at someone. Sometimes it makes me feel better just to have THOUGHT about saying it to them!
will never beat Homer simpsons version

Heston is one on America's BEST actors, bar none.
The place where this scene was filmed is Zuma beach, California.

This is the ending of the orginal "Planet
Of The Apes!". Heston's C'ol.George Taylor"was cussing
out man's stupidly destroying Earth with an
atomic missle.
