I can afford diamonds, but I refuse to wear them (see comments by jws2 and zaphraud). I wear cz, and will continue to do so. Love of gemstones is not superficial...it`s science and my hobby. Are geologists superficial?

Diamonds are not a scarce commodity they're value is falsly held up by companies like DeBeers that buys and hords them. Do some research on the diamond trade and you will see. If diamonds were let loose freely on the market the value would plummet! There is a couple of companies that are making REAL man made diamonds. One company is called Apollo and the process is a fast version of how mother nature makes them.

When the DeBeers Cartel finally collapses, it will be a great day for the human race. Not only will the era of "blood diamonds" come to an end, but advanced materials based on diamond will no longer be held off the market because of the limitless greed of a very small number of very evil people!

Let us not rest until diamond is every bit as uninteresting as pyrex.
