That is called a pop filter. Cut's down on the pop noises from the P's and B's pronounced when singing.

I absolutely agree: this is one of Elton's best. You MORE than do this song justice. In fact, I have yet to hear ANYONE other than EJ do it this well. Great performance and excellent sound quality on the vid. Good luck!
