Vanuatu always has earthquakes because they have volcanoes on the island. The people of that island are used to it.

Ok,

"checkers1245" the best thing to remember about Tsunami's is that they lose a least a little bit of their strength when they do come ashore (considering that they run into immovable objects like trees and concrete walls). And since there are probably some mountains on some tropical islands, the best thing to do is GO UP as high as you can.

If there had been a Tsunami and any of these people had seen it coming, heading into the hills would have saved at least some of them.
