Not BETTER than shawn (buckethead would never consider himself better either, Im sure of that) but Bucket is a very different kind of guitarist. They are both shredders, and play like freakin psychos, but in the end Shawn is more fusion based, while bucket does more genres.

I think Shawn is technically better, but I really love Buckethead too, in the end he seems more diverse.

But off course, in the end, its a matter of taste. :)

Shawn lane is a guitar player who also plays piano very good. Hes not really like buckethead. He is very very good tho. I heard Buckethead was a fan of Lane (just like Paul Gilbert). Just search Shawn Lane here on youtube, therese some really cool footage of him here (including some lessons he did).

Buckethead thinks greatly of Shawn. They were good friends and they also did a stage performance or two together. I personally prefer Buckethead over Lane, but that's just me i guess. Rock on!

You my friend obviously underestimate shawn lanes ability. Personally i don't know why people think BUckethead is better than Lane. Its a completely perposturous claim. Also, people PLEASE stop saying Buckethead is more diverse than Lane. You OBVIOUSLY have no idea what Lane played. So please do your research before you say this guy is more "diverse". His phrasing lacks in many areas, hes EXTREMELY repetitive and sounds like a gilbert clone, but that would be an understatement to gilbert.

Lol, I have heard most of his albums. And i am not impressed. I do my research before posting something like that. And even after listening to a load of his stuff i am still unimpressed and with a bland taste in my mouth. Are you a musician yourself? and if so of how many years? Because its not hard to tell a good composition from a tasteless one.

Yeah, I really wish Buckethead would play in Norway, or Europe in general. But, outside of the really big gigs he never travels outside of the US it seems. Real shame. Think he'd love Rockefeller in Oslo!

But it's understandable why. He got a family and being the kind of artist he is he can just pick and choose the gigs and places he wants to play.

And at this point I'd guess it's more just to have fun and play infront of a die hard crowd who love the musc, than to make lots of money :P
