Also, I should have mentioned that we played the Trooper on 2 different days - plus, I think you may have seen some rehearsal footage as there is some of that somewhere on Youtube I think.
I have no Idea if Steve listens to Maiden but I do know that he had heard 'The Trooper' before we played it and he liked that for sure....We had a lot of fun.
In answer to your questions stitcha 123 - this and 'Little Wing' were the only 2 tracks as I recall that I had stereo mixing desk audio of and so I was able to sort out the levels a bit. There was nothing overdubbed after the fact by me or anyone else either!
Also, if Steve didn't want to play Maiden we wouldn't have played that track would we?
BTW, a lot of the other videos on here were from phones etc and sound suitably lo-fi as a result. Hope this clears it up for you........
@philhilborne ah cheers! but vais solo sound a lot more shred-rastic on the lo-fi....... :p nevertheless, cool. i mention steve digging maiden in a kinda 'i wonder if he ever listens to them?' kinda way. I recall he mentioned hes not a massive fan of smoke on the water, yet played it live for a g3 tour, just wondered...
oh, whilst im here, anyway of volunteering on getting in on the LIMS for upcoming years? i missed 09 :( because it clashed with download. sorrrry, but u know - motley crue ;)
@philhilborne and i hope you realise you tough a decision that was.....steve vai......fave guitar player..nicko me fave drummer........but u know, who cud turn down mick mars 20m from my house?!
i know this is a little weird, but check out the other videos of vai playing this exact gig, he sounds completely different, his solo is waydifferent. has philborne overdubbed this after the fact? seriously people?
Watching Steve play the The Trooper is a dream come true for me. Many thanks for the upload.
