Veganism is not a cult. However people have made this life style as well as the vegetarian lifestyle near dogmatic, there are instances where dictators have murdered people who didn't follow their veg diet. The problem is that the reason people are assholes to vegs, is because 1: they have counter arguments to the arguments of vegs, and the vegs' counter arguments are the arguments they started with and so on, and 2: because many vegs are themselves assholes so people have "given up" be for you.

The original inventor of the term, Donald Watson used it to describe vegetarians who did not eat dairy. Simple enough dietary choice there.

Then came H. Jay Dinshah in 1960 who started the cultist Vegans by adding the religions of Jainism and Buddhism. That is why PETA is often strongly associated with Veganism. They both use the religious doctrine of Ahimsa.

PETA has found that facts affect some small number of people. Others need graphic video to be reached. Still others need to be disarmed through humor or sensuality. The sexy ads are a great way to get attention when the media otherwise ignores PR issues. If you can come up with another way to get people to pay attention, well... do it. As for bad taste, the left wing has it's own subculture of joyless prudes. The US has echos of puritantism still ringing, unlike most of Europe, who are better adjusted to the nude form.

This ignoramus I work with was whispering to another girl (who i think was just homouring her) about how they don't like Asians, particularly those that speak their native language in public. Then she goes on to say that people should have to abandon their culture when they arrive in Australia, after all "we would have to if we went to Iraq" (what Iraq has to do with Chinese, Vietnamese or Japanese people I have no idea). Then the other girl said "but you'll eat their food tho" and she said yes.

Yeah that is true :) But there are also very many diffrences beetwen them in core culture :) Linguisticaly Japanese and Mandarin,Cartonese are very diffrent from each other if you take away loean words they are veryy diffrent from each other in structure just for an example :P And yeah I love Japanese and Chinese food the world is much richer for it :)
