for those of you who want to know what the difference is... A gun is a weapon that has no rifleing or grooves inside the barrel to make the projectile spin..a shotgun has a mirror polish inside the barrel and does not impart a spin on the projectile.. A rifle on the other hand, has these grooves that impart a spin on the bullet thereby making it more stable in flight and more accurate much like a thrown football All firearms are referred to as guns... but a gun is NOT a rifle
