@BastardRevolver U could just build a new face cover . Just a circular trim big enough to screw around d old hole . Imagine a circle Covering a smaller circle.
@BastardRevolver U could just build a new face cover . Just a circular trim big enough to screw around d old hole . Imagine a circle Covering a smaller circle. jus saying
@masterwood. Plywood is not bits of wood compressed. That's called osb ( oriented strand board ) plywood is thin sheets ( ply ) usually 1/8 in each that are compressed together. Osb is cheaper an a little not stronger. Doesnt flex as much as plywood
so i think you have to put damping material if you make a custom box ? and leave original boxes like that otherwise it will fuck up the bass quality ?
Look man i have one Jbl original box with slipstream port in it. i already tried putting damping material in it. it sounded like the port was closed or something very shity bass! than i pulled everything out it sounds like Beast !!
That box is gonna sound like shit can already tell! The air from each sub is gonna cancel each other out unless there is something in between the middle of that slot separating the shared slot
My friend surprised me a few months ago when he said he used a jig saw to cut the holes out on the MDF 18mm that I paid for the diy JBL 4645 box. He takes his time and he’s a perfectionist. Thou I do think he’s kidding because the cuts for the port holes are too damn perfect a cut including the hole for 18” sub.
Routers don’t cost that much starting at low price models working up to expensive models.
Better to use Router it takes less time to cut the hole!
@lcmtvbreath4 noted, that my comment is not in reference to the maker of the video... it's to the guy who was panicking he wasn't padded up like some idiot
@graffmang503 No, but here's why I said what I said.
I was helping a friend cut some MDF with a circular saw a while back. I was moving around behind him to keep the power chord from getting in his way then heard BAM and the saw stopped. I turned back to him and saw a big chunk of the MDF missing. The piece was laying by his car and a dent was in his car door. As best as we can figure, he hit a void in the MDF and it broke off and went flying. If it hit someone that would've been bad!
@MrMonster68 124 because there is very few people on youtube who know what they are talking about, and lots of people who want porn, drugs and pyrotechnics while a guy cuts a box while being humped by an elephant on fire, being suspended from a 200 foot building...
Bottom line, do you think your now a youtube superstar because you got 124 likes? I still got almost 300 subsribers, that must mean I know what im doing, if you insist on comparing numbers to experience ;-)
@MrMonster68 :3 Provin to ya, you thought you were a legend because you got 124 likes, thinking is meant something. Never said I thought I was a superstar, just sayin I know what i'm doing. W/e, man, this fight is pointless, idk if your even into car audio, you seem pretty young, and don't have any vids on it. Truce.
@masterwolf1212 Ok Truce and im not into car audio but custom boxes arent just for cars and i dont have to have a vid on the subject to be into it and i dont think im a legend because i have 124 likes on a comment
@MrMonster68 You'r the one who started complaining about something thats ON TOPIC about the video you watched. So what right do you have that you can complain? In fact, your 12 years old, so what gives you the right to claim who has rights? You called me a faggot too? I do have the right, in fact this is the internet, and we are in america. I have all the right I need. Your a troll, you have plenty of comments on your page complying with my statement. Therefore use the internet when you mature
@MrMonster68 Not "pretty young" since in a few months I'll be driving. And plus, at least I have some form of maturity, I don't go around putting peoples videos down for ridiculous reasons which do not portray the theme, or genre of the video. Therefore, in this case, maturity based on age is a small fragment of the idea, its just you seem around 11 years old, I was only beginning this hobby at your age, not watching people building enclosures, therefore I assume you would carry a similar trait.
@MrMonster68 Its called a freaking hobby smartass. Realize that in 11 months I will be old enough to drive. Plus, when im old enough to drive, I'll have to spend my money on other things, like car insurance, therefore if I am to get 2,000 dollars, I'll have maybe 900 to spend on an audio system/car modifications after my necessary insurance/other payments, apposed to now if I have 2,000 dollars, I have 2,000 dollars for an audio system. Plus, it is of course a hobby. Why are you watching this?
No dust mask? You're definitely asking for trouble cutting MDF without wearing proper protection. Please ensure your well-being and safety when dealing with MDF, because it has a chemical known to cause cancer. Take care
how do I calculate how big and whas shae to make my speaker box ? i'm planning to build it acording in size to a professionaly built speaker wich has same wats. is that ok ?
@mazilusanel Looks to be MDF fiberboard to me. You can get it at Home Depot or pretty much any lumber yard. It's wonderful to work with, but soooo heavy!

It's cheap too, which is a pleasant surprise these days. Anyway, cheers bro. Still laughing at our descriptions... middle medum density fiberboard fiberboard. LOL! Ok nice, but dont forget to put some whool in that box for an optimal deep pure bass quality. Only the backside of i is enough for an ported box. sealed box you can fil it to 75%. I know this information from Pioneer Suport..

@VideoUploaderr The optimum interior of a speaker volume is calculated using measured electrical characteristics of a driver (these electrical characteristics are commonly called the "Thiele-Small Parameters"). Once this optimum volume is calculated (according to the intended application of the finished "speaker), it often results in an enclosure that is too big for the intended location. We can use a smaller enclosure by using damping material such as wool or foam. Continues,...
@VideoUploaderr The damping material will cause the driver to behave as if it is in a larger enclosure containing a greater air volume (air being the damping 'material' of choice). It does so at a cost though. the 'artificial' damping material will cause the driver to react slower than if it was only 'suspended' by air and the it will also react differently in it's frequency response. As long as you have the choice to build to the optimal volume (as determined by the T-S params) do so. Continues
@VideoUploaderr Use any 'artificial' damping material is a compromise meant to overcome another compromise, in essence a kludge, and not the best way to do things.
looks like its coming along good. but who wants to watch a video of the guy cutting the port holes out? should've made the video have clips from beginning to end...
the hole in a box is called a PORT that is tuned to a specific Frequency dumbas*s , you wont reach high DB's without it for those saying you dont need a port, i dont believe in closed enclosures it just dont give the subs enough air to breathe
A jigsaw works fine...but I agree, a router with a circle cutting jig is by far the best, easiest, and most accurate method of cutting out the holes for the driver and round ports.
@MagicalMrSkylar Your the Moron,,He's using what he has smart ass..God I HATE Like you ..Why don't you find a bus and run in front of it..Only thing your good for is nothing what so ever............
@MagicalMrSkylar your a fucking moron your suppose to your MDF when building subwoofer enclosures for less possibility for it flaking or falling a part fuck head
@MagicalMrSkylar Plywood is so similar to MDF it doesn't matter. And everyone uses MDF. I don't use a router either yet I still make near to perfect circles. It doesn't matter if they arent perfect as long as the sub fits and no air leaks. Your a fucking moron, as you say, because you try to express your strong emotions by swearing, which makes you look dumb, and nobody wants to be around you which is why you post these rude comments on youtube!

@7356205 its not a router dumb ass its a jig saw

A jigsaw works fine...but I agree, a router with a circle cutting jig is by far the best, easiest, and most accurate method of cutting out the holes for the driver and round ports.
