Hardcore used to be wicked when it had breaks and fat basslines - looks like Hardcore producers are starting to incorporate it again. I've been listening to a few recent Hardcore tracks like this recently (some others by Dougal & Gammer) and I'm really liking them: less cheese more bass; even heard some with breaks over 4x4 kickdrums. I normally listen to DnB but this stuff is good.
Was into hardcore years ago til it got shit. First tune i've heard in a while and can safely say its still shit if not worse. Apparently this is the best tune of 2011. hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
I love this song but I love the new sound of hardcore more! Of course hardcore is going to head in the direction of money, and prominence. Hardcore has always been quite an underground genre, but we are seeing albums like clubland and clubland x-treme being released to gain attention in the shops and attract more people! Music has to move with the times, and as it does so does the technology, pushing boundaries even further! I love how hardcore has adopted that electro-choppy feel. Nice fat bass
@Ccrabbin hardcore has always been happy and euphoric. even when it was doing this breakbeat stuff back in the early 90s. the sound changing into more of a drum and bass/ dubstep sound. Just because these 2 genres are massively big doesn't mean they have to copy the sound. i just think this sound should be kept as a style of hardcore.dont get me wrong i like this sound but i stil think they should keep the original sound :)
@MusicUploadsion I said the same thing to a mate of mine and u are right the sound is deffo leaning towards dubstep/d n b. Theres still a lot of euphoric tracks around but it deffo does have that electro/breakbeat sound to it. Every year when HTID brings out a new album, you can really hear the change in sound as it does change with time, but this year that change was massive but I'm still feeling it. The new hardcore underground album still has the old hardcore sound to it tho.
@Ccrabbin the worst thing about it tho is ther tryin to make hardcore appeall to a wider audience but if they change the sound into this completely the people hu hav bin into the old euphoric sound since day 1 will stop listening to the hardcore scene and the stylewill be no more. besides ever since darren styles release skydivin i rekon his sound has got shitter and shitter. no 1 can beat his true original anthems (come running, skydivin. cutting deep etc)
fucking horseshit...starts off good but the climax is shit. fuck u gammer and ur new shit. i used to worship you, now ur shit sucks. who the hell am i meant to listen to now. uk hardcore is fucked with all this nu-skool bullshit. ur experimental shit is a fail.
@thestash16 Going from your comment I doubt you listened to the whole album, I hate to think where music would be in general right now if assholes like you complained every time someone experimented...
@thestash16 WOW that was rude. First off, who are you to tell him how to make his beats? Can YOU make hardcore as well as Gammer? People change, styles change. If you don't appreciate his newer work then don't insult him by saying crap like that.
@thestash16 I can name tons of songs that dont have a climax like this. This is one song thats different for once, and you call the genre fucked. Well, screw you. If you really want to judge Gammer for one song you dislike and say that everything he makes it shit, your just as bad as the mainstream pop teenage girls.
@thestash16 100% agreed, I personally don't like this new sound to hardcore, not that I don't like some electro or some dubstep but when those get mixed into hardcore you find that sound gets rinsed by every half chancer in the scene until it's old and every track is the same shit and the old timers who were with hardcore since the beginning don't want to see HC turn into just another style sped up..
Maybe the big names should make HC something of it's own rather than rinsing the next big genre
@infraction2008 especially darren styles, and gammer, are such large contributers to the whole clubland kinda sound anyway, so its just their thing.
i love newer hardcore that will sound like mid/late 90s hhc but with much much better production quality. however, hardcore has always pulled from a lot of everything else to make its own thing, ya know? think of all the old 80's and early 90's tracks that were ripped off that are so many anthems to us? ^_^ time after time, forever young, etc ^_^
@okidam I'm not against people experimenting with other styles, but the problem is when say a big name makes a genre inspired track and all the up and coming copy them until all you get to hear at events is the same electro/dubstep hardcore stuff rinsed to death.
Music should have variety and be unique, something to set it apart from other genres, I'd say before 2004 hardcore had it's own sound, no it's just playing what's popular to the masses.
@theotherone50 i agree with you. however, nothing much you can do about the whole electro minimal stuff just kinda being big right now. it'll pass. it'll just be one more well used tool in the producers box for where hardcore goes. its gone almost every where else, so why not? ^_^ with how big dubstep is now, with all the electro-stutter-distorted stuff it pulls on, its natural the masses go "ooooh aaaah!" hahahaha
Sick tune!
