  • I don't like relying on one knife to do it all since no one knife does everything great. I always take a machete, tactical folder, gerber multi-tool, fillet knife, and hollow handled survival knife as a backup (used to be my main knife and surprisingly has held up over the years). I only carry a hatchet when it snows or going to snow as another tool for wood processing.

  • I like the Ontario Camillus. Good for most work.

  • I would pick my KaBar Large Heavy Bowie. Even tough my previous one broke, out of the knives I have this is the one i would pick. If I had a choice I would get something bulletproof. It would be a big knife anyway. Something with a blade length of 9-11 inches.

I think the BK2 is a good choice down the lines of a bulletproof knife. Never had it tough...

  • if I can only pic 1 then Id go with 1 of them axes where the knife comes out the bottem, if there any good, or I have seen a kukri that has a lil knife that comes with it, i dont think theres 1 knife out there thats gona be big enough to hack wood and chop trees, yet be small enough to clean a fish or skin a rabit. Its like I was saying I realy have to have 3 knifes small med and 3xl lmao. Any 1 knife that trys to cover all 3 bases tends to fail, or basicly just do ok but never any good

  • cant pic just 1, I kinda gotta have 3 knifes, a big machete type like the ka bar kukri, for wood working or hacking up bears, mnt lions n such that might be kicking my ass. A normal size and style knif like a gerber prodigy, basicly for cuting rope, gutting hunted animals, close combat over the last beer thouse kinda things and a small sharp knife or maby lil swisarmy style knife for cuting cooked meat and other food, dont wana youse the same knife i was just cuting the asshole out of a boar with

  • I'm not Rambo....he he !:)

So Master Hunter from ColdSteel or F1 from Fällkniven would do.

Both do the work and are reliable knives!

  • my selfmade knive

  • Nice video! ESEE 6 would be my go-to knife. I was curious to why you chose bk2 over the BRKT Bravo 1?

  • @tyger1911 Bravo 1 is a great knife but I chose BK 2 first because it is a bigger knife, better for chopping and botaning as well as because it has flat grind which is easier to sharpen in the field versus convex grind of Bravo 1.

Of course convex grind is stronger and keeps the edge longer but I prefer being able to sharpen it in the field.

  • I like the collection, and good job on the English! Keep it up!

  • böker desert warrior

  • Bk2!!!! I like ur set up but I would slide a fire steel in there . I got my second bk2 on the way

  • gerber lmf2 or gerber big rock.. both really great but i prefer lmf2

  • gerber lmf2 is my knife for choice

  • a machete pointy enough to attach to a pole for speer. (hollow handle)

  • ESEE RC-6 ... and for the finer work the Izula

  • Considering you said within our collection mine would be my CRKT Ultima. The sheath has a pouch and paracordm and small straps on it where I could add clips to hold more stuff. In the pouch atm I have magnesium/fero rod, and sharpener

  • My lovly gerber drop point fixed blade knife

  • SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!

  • John Nowill Survival Knife used by the British Army.

  • @gomadzevik Condor rodan

  • Without a doubt Cold Steel Panga machete.

  • I'm no expert but I'd pick this:

COLTELLI "TREKKING" Art. 684 from Fox

    blade cm 22,5 - 8.9” overall cm 35,0 - 13.8” thickness mm 5 - 0.2” weight 600 gr - 21.2 oz - Stainless steel 430

it's a sturdy knife, keeps a nice edge and it's capable of performing both fine carving and heavy chopping.

It has some flaws: the edge is a bit too far from the handle in my opinion, but if I had to choose only one cutting tool to have with me, this would be it ^^"

  • @zioazalin I didn't know that such knife even exists. Great piece of cuttlery. Thanks for the tip and whatching my video.

  • I would take my RD-4 that has a old school leatherman and a firesteel in the pouch thats on the sheath.

  • Bk2 is an awesome knife but for carving and feather sticks its cumbersome, its meant for chopping and hacking. I would probably bring an Ontario Rat 1 folder, a Mora Carbon Steel Companion, and a Falkeniven A1, followed with a Laplander.

  • KABAR ZK Famine Tanto

  • I can't go out without my mora companion ...but for a longer stay in the wild i would take my old faithful...the sog nw ranger.

  • My kit has three knives, CS SRK carbon V, Esee 3 and a Mora 640mg. If I only took one, it would be the Esee 3.

  • Leatherman Mut

  • seriously -i would bring my kukri -i have a 8 inch blade model ( i do have larger ones ) made in Nepal -i can use as a axe or a knife and i can also dig with it -very powerful knife -my second choice is my F1

  • My choice will be my MORA Bushcraft Survival. Knife, Fire Steel and Diamond sharpening stone all in one sheath. The Becker is not a bad choice though.

  • thank you soo much for posting this, this video introduced me to the bk2 2 and i recieved 3 weeks ago and i love it! its awesome and definitly me choice of my knife! Thanks!

  • Out of my collection I would take my estwing hatchet and my mora#1 neck knife. if I could take anything it would be a wetterlings small forest axe and still my mora #1

  • Cold steel recon scout, or cs srk, or fallkniven a1 (y)

  • Fallkniven A2. If it would be my only piece of equipment the 370g of weight is nothing to carry.

with the long, thick blade it gives you an advantage when processing wood, building shelters, etc.. and still it's stainless and vg10 holds the edge fine.

  • hmmm...Fallkniven A1, or possibly the Scrapyard Regulator. Second on is 1/3 inch thick which would be good for ide hacking.

  • the pathfinder knif

  • i would bring my united culery bush master survival knife.

  • Fallkniven F1, it was made specifically for this scenario

  • @ByTheSPiRiTs so was the bk2

  • Looks like an extremely durable knife... I should get something similar for me... thanks for sharing!

  • From my current collection I would go with my bk-7, however if I could have any knife it would have to be an ESEE Junglas. Both are big knives and in the wilderness I would be doing big tasks with them.

  • Love the BK2...my pick is the BK7. I just love the extra length for chopping. I happened to get a brand new Camillus BK7 from Ebay recently and it is a great blade. The stock sheath isn't that great so I'll eventually get a custom kydex sheath for it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Ontario sp 52

  • the gerber 06 fast

  • From my current collection: a Gerber Gator Jr machete, or possibly a Mora 2000.

However, if I ever can afford it, I would take a Fallkniven A1!

  • I bought 2 mora 511 for 10$. :P I think are more than enought

  • dont laugh at me but Id take my mtech tactical fighting knife 520, you can google it or look at the video I made about it on my channel but its a great knife and perficit for camping survival type stuf

  • RTAK II FIXED BLADE PLAIN EDGE

  • The Gerber LMF 2 is the one for me

  • theres nothing better than a fallkniven a1!

  • gerber lmf2, ka-bar bowie, sog seal pup elite, or bear grylls survival

  • those knives suck

  • The Ka-Bar Large Heavy Bowie knife hands down!

  • the mora bushcraft survival or a j marttiini knife

  • I think I'll take the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate knife...

  • @MegaCrazyBoy1996 a pretty good knife but the lacerations ( or the teeth ) are easy to break, but still one of my favorite !

  • I'm going to cheat and choose two knives. I would take a Ka-Bar USMC , and my trusty Mora 2000.

  • Once you have done spliting wood by batoning the log with your knive, the knive might no longer be very good for processing game. Bring a small axe or hatchet with you, buddy.

  • can you give me the 3 knive as a x-mas present?

  • I'm with you, I have the BK2 as well and it would be a good choice for the scenario your presented. Thanks, wtr7

  • My Arthur right and son 701 Good video, really would be tempted to take my Charge TTI but you can fashion tools with a good knife! Great question, merry Christmas

  • My Recon scout :)

  • I don´t know if it´s really the best choice, but with my limited experience I would say Mora Bushcraft because I only use Mora´s since Im swedish and the brand is cheap and can ALWAYS be trusted

  • Think I would have to go with the Ka-bar Marine fighter. Proven history already so I would feel a little more comfortable taking it along.

  • Definitely an axe. In northern wilderness is much more useful then knife.

  • @saho1414 Not at all,It's much heavier to carry around, Witch means you will loose allot of energy using it.

  • TrailMaster (continued) ... In the Arctic Climes. fire and shelter are critical requisites. ... Trees are larger ... punching thru ice is a common need (fishing, climbing, fall-thrus, slides) ... I have watched Jordan skin a moose, with one. Chop thru large bones, joints and sinew. Next to warm clothing and a fire-steel, the TrailMaster is a "MUST HAVE", for Alpine and Arctic environments. I would even carry a big-ass DMT diamond rod, in that situation. Axes R better than saws, for sub-zero.

  • Just one knife ? ... Well ... For Arctic conditions ? ... I am from Texas and I do own/carry an Ontario SP-8, a Mora Force, and a Leatherman Surge ... I also own a BK-2 ... BUT ... The BK-2 does NOT have adequate *span* (length) for larger logs and shelter building. The clear winner would have to be a Cold Steel TrailMaster (as large and heavy as it is ... I do not own one) ... But the TrailMaster can split huge logs .. build a snow-cave ... dig an ice-fishing hole ... fight a bear ... yup.

  • CS trailmaster with whetstone on the sheat :)

  • my ray mears bushcraft knife=P

  • Then our choise is the same, thinking of my current collection, if this was back in my scout days i would bring my large 8" sami knife. This is a good question! shelter and fire will be your number one priority, water will be plesantly simple to get to (most probably), and food will be number two in terms of priority. Depending also on summer/winter also. But you will need a solid slab of steel either way as i see it, especially during winter as you need to get to the dry wood found inside thim

  • my choice would be the cold steel khurki (NOT the machete ofc =)

Because it's really an hatchet too, I can split most wood in a swift slash, and if not it has a 30 cm blade heheh so np there.

Not good for carving obviously but then again I don't think I would be making spoons or crap in that situation xD.

    I have the SK-5 version

  • Will be uploading, either later this evening or tomorrow, a video I recorded where I whittled a small piece of wood into a toothpick with a Becker BK-2.

Regarding your question, I've got a Mora Clipper, a BK-2, a hatchet, a SwissTool, SAK, etc. and I'm still learning what I can do with each of them, so I hope I don't find myself in your hypothetical scenario anytime soon. LOL

  • no love for the ka-bar 7" fighting/utility knife? i love mine!

  • @unclepaul57 Though I don't have ka-bar 7 from what I have seen and read it is a great knife. It is just that to me BK 2 is a better compromise between a long and medium survival knife.

  • my united cutlery technical knife

  • You could, though, strap a Mora to the sheath somehow and have two of the best together. :)

  • Thats a nice knife, and a good choice to. You can store some stuff in the bk2s handle also. I hawe plenty of knives but if I had to go with only one knife, it would be my RAT-7, find it best to hawe 6-8 inch blade for easy cary and to get moust utility out of it, so my RAT-3 would be left at home. Small enough for carwing tasks, big enough for chopping tasks. The Ontario knife company makes greate stuff at not a to high price.

  • I would bring my columbia military bowie knife... or the USA Saber knife... haha

  • Nice question. I had a BK-2 and didn't like it; too beefy for the size. That knife would be perfect with a 3/16" blade, not 1/4" like it is. In my case, I would take a Randall RAT-7 or an ESEE 6. For me those are medium knives. You can chop, slice, skin, baton, and do close work because both allow you to choke on the blade with the finger choil. Amazing and versatile knives.

  • Cool knife, I would suggest putting some sort of firestarter in the pouch as well

  • @jcoco525 It's there, I just forgot to mention that on the video. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • @jcoco525 It's there, I just forgot to mention that on the video. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • yep bk2 i would take, i have a question have you ever used that sharpener on bk2? because i have the gerber one and doesnt get in to ceramic

  • Leuku with stacked birch bark handle.

  • Nice vid and knives. I would choose the Schrade SCHF9... The Highest value survival type knife I know of. Check it out! Thanks for sharing.

  • @cyclist01222 I don't have it but I've seen it here on YT. I think it realy is a great survival knife: shape, size, material all great. I almost ordered one. But what I got a little doubtful about was the sheath: nylon and the plastic insert has no retention with the knife. I am very fussy about the sheath I think they are as important as the knife itself (explained in my Survival Knife Philosophy 2 ). To me it must be safe, durable and comfortable.

    Thanks for the comment

  • @myactionhobbies You should get it. The sheath is not as bad as some reviewers say and can easily be modified to meet your needs. Besides, the knife itself is worth a lot more than the 30 dollar sale price even without the sheath. If you like the BK2 you will love the SCHF9. Check out the reviews on amazon.

  • a rossili leuku

  • I would choose the fallkniven A1

  • I have a bk2 as well...I agree with all your points. Will cut better with a convex edge. Like your sheath mods!

  • @drumgodtim

    Thnx for the comment

  • I'd cheat. BK-2 with a SwissTool strapped to it. ;)

  • @CanItAlready

    :)))

  • you should pick one up!

  • rat-4 a good ole 1095 steel, enough blade big enough for anything small enough for most. though becker bk-11 isnt bad.

  • @mrsvinarich26

I wish I had one of those RATs in my living in my gear box :)

  • I'd have to pick my Enzo Trapper in O-1 steel. Its thicker then a mora, but has that same easy to sharpen scandi grind.

  • @SluggySlugworth

Good choice, I have been looking at that knife for a while. Excellent bushcrafter.

  • i'll choose versatility over power, so i'll go with my small self-made knife that i know and trust (you can see it in my videos). even if it's small, i can use it to work wood as thick as my wrist. if the wood is thicker, i can cut it by burning and split it with wedges made of hardwood. i know it will be enough for me (even if it would be easier to have a saw, too) because for a long period of time (over 10 years) i only carried a folding knife and i learned to get the job done with only that.

  • @bushcraftmyway

Yeah, I watched that video earlier today. Great knife, I agree that you could trust your life on that.

  • @bushcraftmyway ,I totally agree. The smaller blade does more than many people think.3.5 to 5 inch blade does very well. And you cut much more control than with a 10" blade. What size did you mean by the way?
