Hmmmm,in 90's tennis surfaces didn't change a lot. Federer started with a fast grasscourts and if it stayed like that,he wold dominate on grass totaly. But he adopted very well on this slowing down of grass and hardcourts. Supouse that happened in 90's, I'm not sure if Sampras would have that kind of success. Then, that would aloud players like Agassi or Chang to have even more success than they had. That's why Nadal,Djoko and others are so god. Fed just has more variabillity then Sampras.
really interesting to see how Fed became so much better since this match (serve, backhand and consistency), before he slipped and became less (speed, serve) or at least until the new giants became ajusted...
@tiesthijsthejs oh and what about the crowd going mental from a n y point, whoever scores or fails. And the subtle mental differences between pete and roger, not much later roger would also acquire that same calmness. man, just crazy to watch this. Easy to say we all expected Fed to become t h e Federer, but that's bullcrap. Sure he played perfect, but hej everything's so relative. Anyone who beats Roger or Rafa now in a 3rd round at a Grandslam isn't becoming the next super dude either.
