What CUDA does is that it allows you to use the gpu for general-pupose-programming. Maybe in time this will have developed to a state where we can kiss the cpu's goodbye for good and instead welcome the gpgpu's...
You're very wrong about that, GPUs are excellent at 'simple' calculations, while CPUs perform much better doing more complex algorithmic calculations.
@Mamboi you don't do your research very well.. look for CUDA in Wikipedia and go to the "Current and future usages of CUDA architecture" section. Shame on people who thumbs up this person's comment without even researching.
I know CUDA is GPU system inside nvidia card. But the CUDA is programmable things, unlike CPU which restricted to specific instruction set (MMX, SSE, etc)
CUDA is an api allowing one to use the gpu (nvidia geforce 8x00 and better) for other things then graphics, gpu's are sweet floating point semi-supercomps in a box.... kinda.. :)
Cuda can be used to harness the processing power of gpu's for other things then graphics, physx enabled games can use it to accelerate physics.
It's also a possibly great development in the scientific field if you for example compare running an nbody gravity simulation on a cpu vs a gpu. Check the cuda section on the nvidia site. It has examples, Software Development Kit, links to stuff in development etc.
hey guys im new to this Nvidia cuda and im wanting some help i have just bought an BFG 9800GTX- OC - and i want my card to get to its full potential. It has 128 stream processors, 760MHz core (Standard), Memory Bus 1125 MHz (Standard)and i was just wandering can CUDA get my card to its full? help would be much appreciated.
awesome. Could this crack zip passwords?? Im stuck with a damn radeon HD series. ive had a zip file ive wanted to crack for 5 years, still not close to breaking it.
I have yet to figure out how to change the character set using this specific software.. That's why I prefer the command line "md5crack_gpu" by Elcomsoft.
Can you Cracking this hash? 0462bb88b58bb8cfaf084fdbdb2b1d92 <-- i think not xD
SapphireHD5850Xtreme 6 months ago
Thats garbage. Why does it say im getting like 4000+ Mhash/s?
CoDMoDzHD 10 months ago
The program may be speedy, but as an example it is very unimpressive...
Depending on how the character set is ordered internally, the right password is hit on as low as the 30M-th check.

I don't see the point of using a CPU then... it thought CPU was faster but GPU was faster at graphics because it was specifily desinged to be so.

how to generate dictionary file with gpu bruteforcer?
GevorA92 1 year ago
Sorry, but who is using 6 letter passwords this days? 8 is minimal standard.
movax20h 1 year ago
With Version 0.23 i get 300 Mhash/s. Very Nice^^ (With a 260GTX)
With Version 0.1 only 60 - 70 ^^

fantastic, 5 seconds ago i was thinking about using CUDA to crack passwords, and a simple google showed me this video, now to find the source code...

GPU is excellent to make many simple calculations, bug CPU is better for big calculations.
GPU : Many little stream processors (240 for the GTX275) -> Good for multi-threading
CPU : 1 - 6 powerful cores -> Good for big equations
That's why 240 stream processors @3.5Mhz are better than 6 big cores @ 2.5Ghz for physics simulations...

@Slymayer I think you're talking about parallel (GPU) vs sequential (CPU).

CUDA doesn'T do anything to your GPU unless the Software/Game you are using is specifically programmed to do so. Otherwise it just does NOTHING.

WoW, so much false information...it's ridiculous.
CUDA is not a programm nor an API nor anything remotely resembling software.
CUDA is an architecture inside the Nvidia's GPU's.
CUDA stands for Compute Unified Device Architecture.
CUDA is being implemented since as far as 8600 GT.

Well, you need to research more about CUDA =-=.

Is that a dictionary attack?
How many MD5 hashes can it compute per second?
NerdInHisShoe 3 years ago
With the new BarsWF can i crack about 550 Mio. hashes per second =)
Its Brute Force
