  • Dr. Gussow, you alway's make playing the blues fun. I alway's go back to this video, it's the best version of Key to the Highway i ever heard. Beautiful harp my Friend... Thanks Rusty bergandine

  • I can sure use your "police intuitions" when I have my parties... They are always getting raided. Free drinks man!

  • That was great. I certainly would not have left the room till you guys were done playin. People have made fun of me playing this old music from way back, but they are fools.

  • Damn ... I was living just a hop, skip and a jump from Portsmouth, at the time. Wish I would have known ...

Adam has such a distinctive, inimitable voice on the harmonica. Simply beautiful!

I definitely have to learn how to overblow ...

  • Hello again Adam. You've got a nice voice regardless you say you're not a singer... I totally see you singing leading vocals in a blues band. Inspiring blues as always man... God bless you both

  • Doooh, Adam some how I missed seeing this Gem before. Amazing blowing and pickin' by you both as usual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • people are walking past and not paying much attention when people pay good money to he this.

  • Man this is beautiful. What key of harmonica are you using? Is it D (so the song's in A) ?

  • Shit Adam you make sound so easy , The blues runs through your veins , love it keep on harp,in all the way from Ireland

  • Those street people are very very rude ! If I were there, I would stop and listen, and buy you two with best coffee and sandwiches. Very good cooling music !!

  • These men are kings in their craft. I seriously wonder why no one in the video spares them at least one minute, just to listen to such great music.

  • If I'd have heard that stuff being played while walking by I would have been standing right there listning! Best art at that silly fair I'm sure.. thanks adam and mr Hilbert..

  • bull donkey ur not a country blues guy...ur extremley versatile in a way i some day hope to be. keep harpin brother.

  • Orrsum 1st pos playing on 'key to highway'. u use the overblows in a way i not seen before in 1st pos.. I'll go back to my 'wood shed' to figure it out..

  • You've got good ears! You're right: overblows let you play all the blues pitches in the middle octave, in first pos.

  • Hi Adam-

Sorry I missed you in Portsmouth. I live just down the road in Exeter, but didn't happen upon your Youtube lessons until yesterday. :(

Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing. More people than you know will benefit from your generosity, and quality bars around the world will be the better for it.

    Aloha,

    wl

  • is this something out of a Ray Bradbury novel?? why do the people not react to the music ??? have their minds been taken over by the Martians ??? wierd ..

  • KEY TO THE HIGHWAY! I LOVE THAT SONG! THE BAND iis my favorite group that ive ever heard.

  • Thanks so much for all this stuff I was always told that the only thing you can do with music is teach it, Great stuff, well done

  • I just really like acoustic harp. It has so much more personality. Nothing is covered up. You actually have to be good to do it. And of course you do it really well.

    The same applies to guitar.

Thanks so much for the acoustic videos. More acoustic, maybe piedmont blues, would be interesting to see and hear.

Don't take me wrong...it's ALL interesting and great! You're a great player and teacher. Some of us just like to play...no aspirations to entertain.

    Thanks!

  • I'm making a note and will try to discuss that style. It's not my main thing--I"m more of an amped guy, and not a country blues guy--but I'll see what I can do.

  • All the other videos work. But not this one. For BigFishBlueFish: Key to the Highway is in A (at least our version is, Little Walter did it in G), and the slow blues is in G. Rock on. - CH

  • This one is playing just fine for me this evening. Not sure why there's an occasional problem.

  • thanks....very inspirational....score big for you guys...i am off to the woodshed!

    g

  • a and c,

this could be the best woodshed rockin stuff you have provided me....way fun...thank you...i need a guitar playing partner, quick!

    Gman

  • adam and charlie...very nice music in a book store...for the harmonica challenged: adam, give us a hand signal what harp you are using:)

really like your slow blues song after Key to the Highway...gotta learn that!

    thanks

  • I can't get this one to play either. No problem with any of the others.

  • Hi Adam, Charlie, and all! Can anybody helpt meto get this video to play. (A couple from others won't play either but most do play) I tried the utube instructions to un/reinstall the player but this still won't play/

  • Works fine for me. Great playing Adam!!!

  • does anyone have a suggestion on how i might be able to get this vide to work

  • if you're not using an amp out on the street do you blow the harp louder or just keep it at a regular volume?

  • I adapt what i'm going to the space I'm actually in. I prefer playing a cranked up amp, but the truth is, this particular indoor space sounded great with unamped harp. I tried not to drown out charlie

  • I just want to say thanks to you tube for making this all possible.

  • Adam, so close yet so far.. My best intentions couldn't get me to either Boston or N.H. in time for your gigs. Thanks for bringing them to me. My Boston trip was not all for naught however. I did manage to score some Toots Thielemans tickets for the June 22nd. So, you'll be in my thoughts that night as the jazzman plays since I never would have made it to Boston/Cambridge if it hadn't been for you're trip here to New England. Sorry I didn't make it in time... Peace

  • Man, you taught me the Tongue Blocking!!! I'll never forget this!!! Thank you! When do you come to Brazil???

  • As soon as a promoter offers me a deal.

  • Nice playing. I`d strongly advice to add Finland to your tour schedules as well ;)

  • That's why they call it the blues!

  • Thanks for more great stuff Adam, Love the road show tours almost as much as I appreciate and learn frome the harp lessons themselves. You are to Harmonica as Rachael Ray is to food -- accept better. By the way any comments on Blues Master harps?

  • I'm flattered by the comparison. RR started her career working food-table floor shows at Williams Sonoma and the like. Then she hit it big. Who should I talk to about a show? Oh, wait: this IS my show! And blues harp would lose its soul if you gave me a show on DIY. Big Walter would shoot me in the head, from the grave.

  • damint i cant get the vido to work

  • Don't feel bad, I'm in the damn thing and I can't get it to work. - CH

  • Well done! Very nice playing. Shut down on the street huh? Sounds familiar - Bluesmen never get any respect cept from other bluesmen. And, you prolly didn't have the proper permit eh? "The Man" always wants his cut... ;-)

As always thanks for sharing and...

    Jam On!

    -BB

  • drop by once in amsterdam! we'd love to have you over here, doing the thing you do.

  • One of my goals in life is to visit Amsterdam. My friends, The Skyla Burrell Blues Band, were there and had a great time. In fact many of my musician friends have been there. - CH

  • Nice playing Adam and Charlie, I can't believe all of those people walked by you guys without at least stopping for a minute to listen! Thanks for keeping the blues alive.
