@bbradly111 the treasurey ? and he was talkin about the ink, the ink contains iron, if ur dad worked in the money department, u should kno these thing, but from the way u worded ur sentence , brought to my conclusion that u sir, are a moron......
counterfitters wash the ink off say a dollar bill or five dollar bill then they use that ink to make fake 100's or 50's ...so if u put a magnet to a counterfeit bill that has been "washed" it will still be magnetized..good way to detect some counterfeit money but not ALL
another way to detect it is by using a light touch with your finger. US dollar bills are printed with a special ink, made only by the US government. What is so special about the ink? It rests on top of the bill, not in it. so, if you want to know if your bill is real or not, use an iron to flatten the bill. Lightly run your finger across it to feel for any tiny "bumps" in the paper. if your bill is completely smooth, its fake. if it has texture, its real.
@realn3ss the special ink has nothing to do with the "feel" that it has texture. but you made a good point with the ink as with a normal scanner cannot read the colors of a us bill so its pretty simple to pick away bad fakes. but who cares if its a one dollar bill lol.
or you can look at it in the light and look for the water mark or code duhh thats what i do !

Who would waste their time making counterfeit ones?

The ink contains iron compounds, not lead. Lead actually repels magnets, because it is diamagnetic.
