You're unsatisfied with this band because the band major is a female, and because there's too many movements and patterns, while the rest of the military bands just countered all over the field? I also can't believe that everyone is saying that Marines are homo! There's nothing "homo" about the USMC. Marines have to go through CRAP to earn their title.

@agibbs98 What are you talking about? There's only one group of people in the Marine Corps who don't go to boot camp. This is the Marine Corps Band at Wash., DC. All other musicians in the Corps go to recruit training. All band members are fully trained and combat ready....

Not ALL Military Bands have to do the same boring up and down the floor counter march wheel right wheel left etc type of show. Being a former CF Musician we were always delighted to se the US Bands come up and put on a "REAL SHOW" They always seemed to get the most response from the crowds. And the whole thing boils down to this ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!!! .

The US Marine Field Bands can be just as "Military" as you want when the time calls for it. Ive seen it first hand.

@Damnblastify "Serious fighting force" ... well than Royal Marines don't fall into that category. US Marines do. Also considering there is also less then 10,000 RM's, while my US Marines have almost 350,000 Marines. The only thing gay about any of this is the "Royal" Marines outfits.

This performance was a lot better than the HM Royal Marines. While the Royal Marines were fantastic I prefer this performance. Unlike other bands in military tattoos, these guys brought a performance which actually got people clapping and entertained. Everything from the music choice, especially "Stars and Stripes forever" at the end, which was a great choice for the ending song, and the steps and movements involved were very appealing. US Marines rocked this one. My opinion of course :D

This was more like some high school band performance . Definitely not representative of the United States Marines. The Royal Marines , however were superb....

I believe there is not a single high school band this size in the US that can sound this way in both individual and ensemble music. "Not representative of the United States Marines," maybe so, but it was much better, and different, than a high school.

The band in this video is not The Marine Corps Band, but rather one of the Fleet/Base bands. There are folks like @dctrtuba1 that should know better.

God bless you guys. I performed in the Marine Forces Pacific Band in Hawaii, in the late 90s. I wanted to audition for you guys, but unfortunately had a medical discharge. It sounds great :)

Just so everyone knows, this is not what the band does all the time. This show was put on specifically for this event. It was meant for entertainment. Typically the band does very traditional military marching and ceremonies. Quantico, 29 Palms, and Hawaii all do similar shows for occasions such as this. Its not about disrespecting tradition but rather entertaining an audience and puting on something different. Trust me, this group can do traditional just as well if not better.

The marine Band is always excellent, I have to say this is the first time I have ever seen them do a Drum Corps style show though. Usually they are pretty much straight military step and formation. The sound is amazing for a band that size.

I'm as big an admirer of the USMC as anyone, and I thought their band was technically superb, but what in God's name are they playing at here? They're a MILITARY BAND, not one of those bloody awful High School bands they have at the Super Bowl in silly uniforms. All that show-bizzy crap, daft marching and that bloody awful version of The Halls of Montezuma at the end! What on Earth have they come to???? And as for that tableau of Iwo Jima? Jesus wept! Have they no shame? It's not Disneyworld!!

@dspi2772 Further to my last post, if you look at the comments attached to "2009 Virginia International Tatoo" regarding the Marine Band there, there are a number of people making pretty much the same observations as me, obviously I'm not alone in my views. I guess some of us prefer a Military Band to perfom in that manner and leave all the Showbiz and Football Game flim-flam out of it?

This is an equally well produced video to the one I reviewed for the Royal Marine Band at the same tattoo.  Now I know it was RayVanEng congratulartions to you. The contrast between the Royal Marine and US Marine was very entertaining. Before seeing the US Mareine band I had never seen a military band march backwards or sideways! Both bands were very entertaining and the tattoo was good considering they had only one rehersal.
