hey man, like your video. i think at the present time there are alot of people thinking the exact same thing. I'm in my late twenties but for a long time i've thought that there is so much hatred and abuse in our society now, if you can even call it society. Especially here in Britain, we are now a country obsessed with cheap celebrity and personal mocking from influential comedians. it seems almost acceptable now to go down the easy route of personal attack, the crudest the better. sad times.
I remember i got lost when i was with my class, my mom and dad called the police and they found me, when i came back to school the other morning people laughed. how the F*ck can people laugh at someone who got lost and was scared??

I'm still a teenager, and I don't understand why my most people in my age group are so heartless and cruel either. It's like they're only helping perpetuate the idea that teenagers are incapable of self-control with how they act on the internet. I know some of these people would never say those things in real life, but I guess anonymity has that effect.
Its true, and it seems some people get on youtube and celebrate being cruel in all their comments. When I first got on youtube and someone said something cruel to me I was shocked and devistated. I had to allmost harden myself to the cruelty . I can't imagine what that girl goes through on a daily basis. terrible.
When you are not making vlogs I can come and visit some of your classics and important message videos. This one was more at the core of the problem than you could speak to. How does one get others to understand that there is a darkness about man that should be curtailed or shown to our youth so that they can over come it while in those wonder lust years.
Have you heard anything about Brooke yet? I hope she feels better & knows that not all people are that way. I've watched YouTube clips for awhile now. I've posted only one other comment & that comment was thanking the person for posting the video & making me smile. I'm thanking you now but for another reason. The other clip made me laugh this clip made me think. I raised my daughter to be kind to others & she is passing that quality on to her own children. Thank you again.
I agree with everything you said. I am disabled and live vicarously through the internet. Sometimes I watch YouTube for laughs (cute kittens, blooper reels anything that looks intriguing). It irritates the heck out of me to read some (alot) of the profanity and abuse these individuals dish out. The anonimity of YouTube is the only thing allowing this abuse. These people could NEVER stand in your face & say these things! What goes around comes around! And time will show true greatness!
I agree... I think our society as a whole, also extending beyond youtube, needs a dramatic overhaul in having good manners..Remember "good manners"? "Respect your elders; or one another?" "Love thy neighbor?" I have seen even such cruelty within my own family that has caused a family break up. It is sad! We need to show more kindness to one another..that is what makes us human.

Everyone (well most everyone) likes a good roast a good joke a good parody but there is a line I would not cross. I love to find humor in almost every situation but I would not make or poke fun at someones disability. I'll make fun of almost anyone (including myself) but I feel it's taboo to make fun of a persons suffering. I do believe laughter is good medicine and will always try to smile and laugh and make others smile&laugh. It's sad when someone leaves because of haters. Nobody's perfect.
It's ignorant to think that only young people are cruel or even the majority of cruel people are young. To say that "older" are not as cruel or unfeeling as younger people is just out there. Most of today's atrocities are done by "older" people. You know what the "older" people were doing when your father was being graced with the ability to walk? Shooting down anti-lynching laws in congress so they could keep their right to hang blacks. That's cruel. Stereotyping youths is unfair.
I understand your frustration on the situation you are dealing with and, perhaps, you were emotional, but to burden younger people with the brunt of the responsibility for actions possible from people from all walks of life is cruel all on it's own. I hope that even if you don't agree, you at least give this a read through as something to think about.
I think you owe RICK ASTLEY an appologly for making fun of him and "Rickrolling" people at his expense. Albeit he is not deformed like Brook, he does have feelings just like she does.Rick may never come on youtube because of your cruel and krass jokes on him.
I found this video through several links back through video response.I dont know the full story but hearing from your point of view, yes it is sad that most of the younger generation can be very cruel, but when it becomes down to the views of the world today,I quote a poet "The world is beautiful,it's just the ugly souls that push the buttons".
People just don't learn the meaning of humility or being humble these days. There should be special classes about it. One day you can be on top, the next in the gutter. Peoople often realize that too late - AFTER they have done damage to others.
Btw I unsubbed to you before because I was busy, I did it to all my subscribers, but im good now so im trying to find some old people I unsubbed to. =/
Thank you for saying what needs to be said- and for reminding me to s-l-o-w down my talking and thinking, a little william shattner in this video- but it works. The internet is new, you, me and everyone needs to help it balance in favor of sanity and decency. written commu. is an art.
I couldn't sleep tonite and got on line to accidently find your video.I am sad too about that which you speak. I feel your disappointment and yes I agree with you-God have mercy on us. All this hate keeps driving me to the same conclusion-the only thing that makes any sense is love...me striving to love others.I have stopped expecting it from others-i give up. Now i just focus on how i can love more everyday in any way i can. Thanks for this vid.
This is a beautiful video Rodney. I didn't know about this case till seeing kenrg's vid. It is very hard, as you say, to communicate with people who are wilfully cruel. I have worked with children who have 'behaviour' issues and most of them are very cruel to one another (and me!), mostly I could get through to them at least once or twice, a couple, I have to admit, were too hard. I know that cruel people are damaged people, not physically but mentally of course. And they want to damage others.
It is a sad light on society that there are so many "haters" out there. People who don't care that they are making the life of someone who has enough challenges get that much rougher.
A true community takes care of ALL its memebers. I hope she has the strength to come back - and I hope we rally around her when she does!
It's awful how people are, I swear it goes back to how they were raised everytime. These kids just do as they choose without regard to others. I'm sure the hate she was getting must have been horrible for her and I'm sorry she left. You are right it is sad. Sadly I don't see it changing either.
Very good video. Compassion is the highest virtue. It's based on the ability to empathise, and the recognition of our own capacity for cruelty (if you've never been cruel, you can't really know what it means. Recognise it & you can try to do something about it). There does seem to be more cruelty & less empathy around these days. Don't know what can be done but awareness of the problem and speaking out about it are first steps.
This video makes me very sad, because you sound sad. I don't know who Brooke is, but from what you said, it seems like she was happy making videos on YouTube, and now she is gone because someone gave her a hard time. It's just not right...
We have all seen examples of kids picking on the weak, in real life. It is something that occurs in the immature human. Some never attain the maturity and are cruel as adults.
It must be some leftover animal response that maybe can't be eliminated. Certainly online anonymous people will exhibit this stupid cruelty. Not sure what urge it satisfies but better on line than in real life?
I think it is a minority but tht minority is dedicated and prolific.
I don't think "children are cruel". I think children do cruel things in response to abuses that they themselves have received in the past. The belief that "children are cruel" is problematic because it perpetuates what Alice Miller has termed "Poison Pedagogy" where the adult tries to beat, humiliate, or otherwise verbally shame the "innate" cruelty out of the child. Which teaches the child by example that its necessary and right to verbally abuse those that are less powerful than oneself.
We've lost a lot of good folks because of the trolls & haters. They can be horrible & hurtful, & remain faceless. That's what gives these cowards their balls.
*sigh*
I guess we can just delete, block, & forget, and try to get on with our real lives.
This is what we know, Rodney: cruelty and love live side-by-side in the human heart. We are all capable of both. Civilization has developed, partly, as a means of protecting the less fortunate from the cruelty of predators. Seeing how easily civilization's morals and mores dissolve under conditions of anonymity reminds us of its fragility. May those who are routinely cruel, and their children, experience behavior like their own for all their days. That, I'm afraid, is the Sicilian in me.
The problem is too many people don't do anything and let them get away with their cruelty. We should abuse the abusers, bully the bullies because they deserve to have their own medicine returned tenfold until they comprehend the consequences of their words and actions.
Can you please make a "Come Back Brooke Video" I I have no way to make a video @ this time....I am currently learning how to make videos and I have a sucky camera..
I'm sure this is something you could do for Brooke, myself and the other Nice You Tuber's
i was actually afraid to put videos on here at first because of how shallow most people are they dont look at who people are but what they look like.looks fade who u are is forever
i totally agree with u it makes me sick to see how cruel people are i dont have near the disabilities she has but i was born with cataracts and have deep emotional scars from kids in school
It's amazing peoples capacity for unkindness, not just in an anonymous setting like youtube, but in real life as well. Good video about a sad but sadly unsurprising situation.
I know the video you are talking about. Paul Fetch posted it.....My son's aunt had was born with no cervical bones in her neck. Sandy died a few years back @ age 50 from alcohol abuse. Sandy never got over how people reacted to her deformity. Brooke if your out there come back to YouTube.......
I agree Rodney. So many kids are growing up these days with no guidence and no family. They are unaware of what their words will do to others or how their actions will be taken. If you look back over time, you can see how the world has advanced in many areas, but in doing so we as a society have left our children behind in values, and social skills.
I believe the bible says something about spare the rod and spoil the child. Well...I guess we proved that one?
I think spare the rod doesn't mean hit your kids. A shepherd uses his rod to guide the sheep not hit them. I think a lot of kids don't have enough guidance from adults. I think too many parents use the TV and internet as babysitters.
I'm 17, so I guess I'm one of the 'young people'. I watch most of your video's and I like them. It's the way you make your videos and the fact that you take your time to say things.
I agree young people can be very cruel, but there are some really kind young people out there too and that's very important to me, because I see lots of young people around me who are pure selfish and arrogant. That doesn't give much hope to me, but let's just forget about them and thing about the kind ones.
im happy you watch my videos,,,,perhaps forgetting about them is part of why they are the way they are,,,maybe they need an example so they can see the peace that comes from kindness and love for others, perhaps that example is you.
Yeah, indeed... My classmates find me weird because I like to write poems and like to philosophize about things. I must say that I've always been different from people my age. It can be hard sometimes, but I'm glad I'm different.
Hey buddy. I have no words of wisdom. It IS painful to see cruelty. Sometimes I wonder if life is worth it...maybe we all should be tossed under a bus. When I look at my granddaughter Keira I wonder how she will handle what sometimes seems to be a hopeless world. But there is hope. I work with handicapped people...some of whom are wheelchair bound. I watch them smile. I watch them continue despite great pain. It is enough.
Yes, we live in a cruel world, but, at the very same time, we also live in a loving world. See both sides, Rodney, see both sides. Life is good/life is terrible. I think, I hope there is a balance.
for me its very hard to see the positive when i see someone so frail being treated so unjustly,,,,i just know what i saw and heard in that video,,,but you see it all the time on yt,,,but you are right,,,ill try to remember,,,thanks

You should never feel less of a person because of other people`s actions. You should be so proud of yourself to care,God Bless. :0)

We've lost a lot of good folks because of the trolls & haters. They can be horrible & hurtful, & remain faceless. That's what gives these cowards their balls.
*sigh*
I guess we can just delete, block, & forget, and try to get on with our real lives.
You're a good King, HelloRodney. *hugs*

I have to wonder how much encyclopediadramatica has to do with all the hate on Youtube.
sleestack 4 years ago
The problem is too many people don't do anything and let them get away with their cruelty. We should abuse the abusers, bully the bullies because they deserve to have their own medicine returned tenfold until they comprehend the consequences of their words and actions.

It's amazing peoples capacity for unkindness, not just in an anonymous setting like youtube, but in real life as well. Good video about a sad but sadly unsurprising situation.

MGB1000 4 years ago
unfortunately
hellorodney 4 years ago
I think spare the rod doesn't mean hit your kids. A shepherd uses his rod to guide the sheep not hit them. I think a lot of kids don't have enough guidance from adults. I think too many parents use the TV and internet as babysitters.
erra404 4 years ago
Its been proven many times down through history as to what the words mean. No debate here. Thx

MGSGeneral 4 years ago
im happy you watch my videos,,,,perhaps forgetting about them is part of why they are the way they are,,,maybe they need an example so they can see the peace that comes from kindness and love for others, perhaps that example is you.
hellorodney 4 years ago
wow, a 17 year that like that he takes his time. That is a rarity!

Yeah, indeed... My classmates find me weird because I like to write poems and like to philosophize about things. I must say that I've always been different from people my age. It can be hard sometimes, but I'm glad I'm different.

Good video Rodney! 5 stars for you.
The sad part of what you speak is that these "people" are the future of the race. Pretty scary, pretty sad.

As one of my favorite fictional characters Conan put it.
"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing."
take from it what u will.

Is this the first time youve witnessed this? Every time a black guy or girl make a video its showerd in ni**** comments. Youtube is hate central bro.
blazedup06 4 years ago
hate is everywhere, this is true, but when someone is set upon that is totally helpless, its a different kind of hate
hellorodney 4 years ago
Yes, we live in a cruel world, but, at the very same time, we also live in a loving world. See both sides, Rodney, see both sides. Life is good/life is terrible. I think, I hope there is a balance.
