@Cynderdragoness13 This 1970 clip is from Spearhead From Space, Jon Pertwee's (the 3rd Doctor) first adventure after being forced to regenerate by the Time Lords at the end of season six's final episode The War Games. Both of these are available on Netflix, as are a whole bunch of episodes of the original series. If you've only seen the new show, then there are 7 Doctors (8 if you count the american movie as part of the original series) that you haven't met yet! Check them out!
@Cynderdragoness13 Yup, that's him. One of the better classic doctors, not that any version of him could possibly be not awesome. Already as eager to "permanently borrow" things as in the new series.XD Doesn't have his epic reputation yet, but you can progressively see him earn it over the course of the classic series (which all takes place *before* the Time War, just so you won't be confused) There is some gradual character developement, but at times you think he hasn't changed at all. XD
And to think that people complained at the amount of nudity in the 11th doctor's first episode! Sheesh. Saw far more of Jon Pertwee here than of Matt Smith. And by the way, yum.
@Mommamacnz yea too much complaining "oh Amy Pond smooched up the doctor in her room before her wedding night, in kids show" & "ooh Matt Smith flashed his knackers" jeez people never seemed to be so touchy in the past, & Jon Pertwee was nearly nude & No one cried like today
Oooooooh... Pertwee was pretty smexy for his age... I do prefer shirtless Matt Smith, but honestly, this is christmas! I bet a lot of grandmothers all around the UK died of a nosebleed when this first aired XD
And of course, still stealing Clothes out of a hospital...3, 8 and 11 did it. It's almost a tradition now.

Beats the CRAP out of the new series! Seriously why do they drop the standard of writing?? I think the dumb people in society are out-breeding the smart people... Social Security is to blame most probably.
@paulejohnson1 Actually, I think they have it almost on par with the 11th Doctor series. Vincent and the Doctor was one of the best for sure so far. And as the comments above show, they paid homage to this scene. :D
LOL what a classic scene, Jon was a pretty cool doctor, he looks so young there! The old jallopy he takes off in kinda reminds me of his car Bessie he drives around in later on!
He was the third Doctor and played the part from 1970 to 1974. I'm pretty sure he was born in 1919 which would put him at 51 when he played the Doctor. I believe he died while doing a Convention circuit for Science Fiction, the same as the second Doctor did.
Yea, his medical doctor said that he shouldn't make is yearly trip to America for the sci-fi conventions but he went anyway. He ordered room service in the morning after a long event at The Magnum Opus Con II and died of a heart attack before it was delivered. that was in 1987. He was suppose to appear on stage with Sylvester McCoy that day.
Jon Pertwee DIED?! =(... WHEN? And how old was PETER DAVIDSON when he first played the DOCTOR?(He looked to B in HIS 30'S,Not in his 40's age) How come THIS DOCTOR didnt know how to drive that old model 1930's-FORD When BETSEY(His YELLOW SUPER CAR=)P....) Was about the same age,Or 10 years younger than that model shown?
@vasp99 I've seen this before but never really noticed the tatoo. You would think that they would have shot him from a different angle so it wouldn't be visible. Would have made more sense. Kind of difficult to explain how he would have it.
@vasp99 They showed it once later (quite close to the last Pertwee episode) where he was lying under his car fixing it. I didn't know they showed it here too! XD
JP was my first, & is still my favourite Doc. Nothing against the rest, fine fellows all of them. It's a bit like your first love isn't it. You never forge your first time
My 'personal canon' is that Three had the tattoo because the High Council marked him before sending him into exile. Of course, I *could* be overthinking things just a little.... :)
why did the doctor steal the car. it's a bit immorral isn't it. not at all like the doctor. (although one coukd blame is on post-regeneration sickness the Doctor always has)
Jon had the tattoo put on when he was in the navy. Pertwee was an officer in the Royal Navy, spending some time working in naval intelligence during the Second World War. He was a crew member of HMS Hood and was transferred off the ship shortly before it was sunk, losing all but three men.
I used to watch the series of the Third Doctor many time.. He was a very popular one before the forth one hit on the air. He was playing a very serious type one, even though his real profession was the famous stage comedian in London.. I miss him since he has passed away some years. One of this series has introduced a bunch of Siluian/Earth Reptilans.. they are best ones standing out among Dr Who dramatic Series
XD Sadly, we would have to wait untill 2010 to see our favourite alien in the shower againXD
Pertwee looked rather hot for his age.

I have an excuse for the tattoo - it's a mark that the Time Lords put on him since he is an exile.

yeah but the tat dissapeared when he regenerated thus explaining why no future regenerations also had the same 'mark' on their arm

I'm taking a guess here that he was about 35 maybe older and that's based on the fact that he is in his 80's now.
