  • @andrewbradley130 Yes but that is straight line performance, no use if you live in Europe and the escort cosworth was aimed at the Europeon market, also that is not true, that cosworth engine is actually very tunable and the cosworths chassis can handle over twice its standard power with no tuning re inforcements. You can chip the cosworth engine, cam the engine and getting around 400bhp out of a cosworth is actually relatively easy, and they are pretty light even though it has AWD.

And it's a cosworth engine now they are amazing engines so reliable and forgiving unlike that dodge with it's crunchy gearbox and shit handling.

  • @Englandforever91 they are built totally different; the engine of a viper will still run after 250'000 miles without any problems while the escort must have it's 3rd engine-rebuild at least... i'd rather have a real torque-monster than a high reving performance-engine... i mean, most of the time you use it on the street so you don't use those high rpm all the time, do you?! plus it has a reason why they are always so good on the 24h-race on the NS - it's durability!

All American engineers are like children they think it's all about the engine size. They seem to forget a 5.0 v8 wont work in a car thats as heavy as a tank and that handles like a bag of shit. Interiors on American cars have alway been low budget n ugly too. When they do go lightweight they just fall apart like the Z06.

There may well be tons and tons of differences but it's still based on the originally British engineered race car. I'm not continuing arguing with you as I really am not fussed as to where a car is from, I'm just informing people of their mistakes and correct information. I have no favourite type of car.

Clearly you know nothing, because on a twisty circuit an American car is the last thing id choose. They have gotten better but they still arent up to the standard of what most other places are making when it comes to the bends, mostly because your roads are alot different being straight. All 300BHP in that viper wasted going to the back wheels! Wanker.

  • @Englandforever91 I'm a huge fan of the Cossie, but to be honest, if I wanted to go as fast as humanly possible around a road course, the fastest production car in the world around the Nurburgring is a Dodge Viper ACR. It's just a fast car. 345mm wide rear tires, it can put the power down just fine. This looked like an old early 90s viper, which even then was 400hp, not 300. But they took a ballsy driver to push them hard.

  • @silenthilesco well basically no... the escort was designed for quickness and razor sharp handling, being rally bred and all that. and it being a much lighter car yes it would go around bends a lot easier. not being from america i cant really back up my arguement but american cars arent known for their handling. in fact doesnt the new corvette have leafsprings on the back? which car would i prefer? i would have to say the viper, but with a few mods the escort could be a much better car on track

The USA doesn't have those restraints, and frankly, because of much more flat, wide open roads than Europe (which has more rolling hills and the roads move with the land instead of cut through it), combined with fuel prices 2-3x higher than the USA, the vehicles are just different. That's also not a stock 2.0 Turbo Escort, for what it's worth.

  • Engine size doesn't mean everything, you also have to take into consideration of power to weight, grip, age, and even track conditions.

    However considering that looks like a near stock cossie, it did pretty well since it did keep up with the viper off the line.
