Check you local laws. In Ohio the BMV handbook says that ONE car may enter the intersection in anticipation of turning... (and only if the turn can be completed except for onciming cars - ie The road you are turning into is clear)

But yes, if you "stage" in anticipation of turning then you habe right-of way over side traffic even if the light turns red. A lot of side-traffic people don't know this and will honk at you while you clear out.

you should submit this to the police adn that driver should be retested. unsafe drivers need to be held accountable.

WTF! wow thats was very stupid! this is why I keep enough space to go around if I have too but not possible all the time! seriously who does that when there right in the middle! some people tell me I run the light when its legal to move up and then clear intersection when light is turning! I see this sometimes but yours seems to show they were way pulled out and especially for cars to go behind you! thats more than crazy!

Yeah, the only reason I crept up behind them like that was that I thought that they were going to turn. When you assume, that's what happens and that's why it happened to me (lol).

Yeah, by the time I was going to back up, cars from my right started turning. So I had to wait. This pissed me off very much, because it was so damn stupid.

I see this sometimes when people back up because they are to far under the light and cannot see that it has turned red or even other reasons like: it was blocked the other way, pedestrians, timid drivers, people who run red lights and don't allow the driver to clear the intersection! all of those things listed Drive me crazy. Thanks for posting :D

I had a friend who was going to back up like that. I told her since she'd committed to the turn, she had to finish. Cross traffic has to wait for you to clear the intersection anyway, since you've legally entered it.

Yes, because we both were in the middle of the intersection. He'd committed, so he needed to finish his turn.

intresting .. usually people here will lead through a intersection like that which is legal like you say .. but the driver behind will not tailgate the person .. when a light is yellow its ok to go through .. but if its red it is illegial to pass through it . usless you are in dire need of medical care , or a medical emergency .. in fact they moniter thousands of lights in texas and issue tickets for drivers doing the same you thought this guy was gonna do ?

Yeah, the video's zoomed in a bit, because I was another road video and was on the way home. I was far enough back where I could see through traffic and the color of the light. I moved up when a little, so we could complete the turn. But, of course, we didn't. >:-(

That's true for going straight, as to not block the intersection. But if you're turning left (and it's not a red left turn arrow), it's encouraged for you to enter the intersection to turn, to improve traffic flow.

When the lights turn red, make sure all through traffic's stopped before completing your turn.

Judging from the driving I've witnessed down there, I'm surprised he just didn't cut the traffic on Godby Rd. off and proceed to make his turn. Driving in Atlanta will definitely stress you out for sure. IMO the city streets are more nerve-racking than the interstates are when they're packed. Great video of a complete dumbass, Bryant! haha

When I honked my horn the first time, he was about to turn -- then he froze. I honked again when he started to back up, because I was like, "Really?!" Then at the end, I drove past him and laid on the horn a bit, because that made totally no sense at all.

Nah, It's good to see you have comments pending approval. The way I get around mean comments is I set it as "friends can comment automatically" and only allow people I trust to be my friends. You're on the friends list with auto comment. Also rexitone and a few others.

The audio's been muted, because I had Roberta Flack playing in the background. I'm honking at this SUV three times: twice in the first scene of the video and as I pass the SUV at the end. I normally don't get road rage, but this was ridiculous.
