I hadn't thought about this song in ages but I used to play the crap out it. Don't know what possessed me to look it up today but I'm glad I did. SING IT, ALVIN: OnedesedaysBoys.
It was 42 years ago, that I heard this band for the first time, at a little gathering downstate NY called the, "Woodstock Music and Arts Fair", at Bethel, NY, & I have been a Fan ever since. Wish we could take a time machine back to that weekend in August, 1969!! In '94, they tried, in vain, to duplicate Woodstock at Saugerties, NY, but I, along with 40,000 others, went to the Reunion Festival down at Yasgur's Farm. They said, "The almighty $1.00 is in Saugerties, but Almighty God is with us!"
@MsVictor1956 Agreed people tend to think of 70's as bad disco music.......but I remember listening to this and zeppelin and king crimson and all that.....no disco at all..
Oh, and this sone goes well those with hot babes playing with themselves u find on the net, if u know what I mean :-O (this is pretty much men's music, let's admit it..)
Listened to this song many times in the 70's. Always stoned. This is the first time Ive listened to it straight. I had forgotten all about this song. Thanks for posting. Lots of memories.
Mr Lee is truly ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING GUTAIR PLAYERS EVER!! OMG!! I I am a huge fan~ And yes.. I was born in the 50's.. I have had the honor of seeing the greatest gutair players ever~ and seen countless concerts.. Led Zepplin was my first 72~ and so started the addition of seeing the best!!
We're obviously dealing with a child who calls anything not played on ClearChannel "nostalgia." He doesn't understand. He needs time. Meanwhile, he'll want to try us with such trifling spitballs. These youngbloods get up on enough true blues and all in time they'll hear how timeless it all is. He wouldn't have commented if he hadn't signed on the hear the song.
@jazzbluesshaman oh i remember being woke up(always went to sleep with the radio on) by a pink floyd song which only has one line in the song..... remember? it's on the first side of the 'meddle' album. "one of these daze i'm going to cut you into little pieces"! yes, they actually used to play music like that on the radio 1970! another one that woke me up was the stones 'sympathy for the devil" yes! same radio station! hell i don't remember which station, it was a new F.M. station in Denver
Emotion! Can't find this on FM today. These guys were down in the dirt. Sure, "TIMES" change. But people still look for something that moves them. Alvin Lee --still playin' today.
thanks for this post. Takes me back to the good ol days when you could hitch hike wherever across the country, share some doobie with 'em and get to where you were going alive. enjoyed cool music, cool people, and less gov't control.
@jmoney747 you little douche, you represent everything fucked up in this world today. it's not nostalgia, to we that lived it, it's a way of life. Fuckers like you will never understand or could understand. The concept of everyone getting along is obviously lost on you, and well over your pinhead. Go play on face book with the other kids.
@belizedream well i'm glad i didn't have to see that comment that some dido made, sounds like you guys set him straight. man, this was the only concert i missed 'cause i went to everyone that came to town! and i havent heard them since 1971, and i have to say that they're just like i remembered them. damn! how can this kinda rock ever die? humans are still humans and rock and roll will never die, niel young said so. and now, how about 'kentucky' woman by deep purple? yah come on!
@belizedream you're right about being able to HH all over the place, but that changed in the 70's when a lot of egotistical, testosterone challenged males began to pick up vulnerable young girls and kill them at their leisure. It'll never be the same, ever again. I feel sorry for all the young women out there who think they're safe going to their local clubs with friends. I live in a college town and we still have one unsolved abduction from over 20 years ago.
