Buakaw is a great fighter, but he's sloppy, exposing his head too much. Typical Thai, they clinch, knee and kick. Hardly any Thai fighter masters Western style boxing well, meaning handskills like Masato does.

They both wrote K-1 Max history and nobody will ever forgt either one of them. Masato retired? Good for him. Some people go on and on and end up bad in the end. Quit while you're still ahead and retire proudly as a champion instead of retiring as everyone's punching bag.

i don't watch much of this K1 thing but why did buakaw just stop kicking in the last round?...i mean he was kicking like shit for the 1st and 2nd till masato started to to more punchings...ive seen several of his fights...i dont think he can stop kicking, especially when someone starts punching him first.

For one, punches score higher in the judges' eyes and Buakaw knows this all too well. After the knockdown, he probably realized he wouldn't be able to win with just kicks and along with the risk of getting knocked down again, as Masato would've been willing to eat any kicks he threw if it meant being able to land another counter. His hands worked well for him the year before; he likely felt he'd be able to outbox him, but it was clearly Masato's world.

I remember. i watched the fight. Anyone can be beaten,,, it's a fact. However what I was trying to say I guess is that recently Buakaw has been judged unfairly. That's just my opinion. For example: last K1 in 2009 he was destroying Andy Souwer. Than they gave an extension round just so Souwer can come back. I think it was unfair judging so did the commenteries. I love Buakaw and I also love Masato I just don't like unfair judging.
